I bet for those that don't like it (but love Whitesnake) - they would have loved it if it was a Coverdale solo album or even the new Whitesnake album with some random guitarist because the songs are there with some of Coverdale's best songwriting ever. Especially after the very cheesy Slip Of The Tongue album.
I think the issues many have is that it is Jimmy Page and they viewed him working with Coverdale as some sort of sell out step down for him and so Led Snake just leaves a bad taste in their mouths.
