Re: Rob Lamothe - Strongest Man In The World/Loss...

I was fortunate enough to grow up in a neighborhood full of friends. Strangely, within a span of five years, we went from all having both of our parents to pretty much every one of us having lost at least one parent. It seems kind of surreal, but two of my friends had lost both parents within that five year span.
I miss my parents dearly - particularly my dad, who I lost 13 years before losing my mom. He was so healthy right up till the time the cancer hit (blindsided) him that I think we all somehow expected that he had a lot of years left. By the time my mom died (almost two years ago - seems hard to believe!), she was not really the same person she had been for most of her life. Between losing my dad and developing dementia, she was just a shell of her former self. She longed to be with my dad in heaven, and I couldn't wish otherwise.
My advice (for what it's worth): if you have parents left, tell them how much they mean to you and how much you appreciate all they've done for you.
And Troy, I hope you can find the strength that you'll need to take care of your father's affairs and also look after your own health needs. You have a group of amazing folks around here who are rooting for you.
