Local customs and taxes on cd's

I'm a big King King fan. So in order to complete my (physical) cd-catalogue of the band, I wanted to buy 2 copies (for me and a friend of mine) of both their latest effort "The Maverick" (which is brilliant to these ears) and the extra live & acoustic bonus cd.
I've searched through the internet multiple times only to find it on the bands official website and Townsend Records (nothing on e-bay, discogs, etc...) This is also someting I find very odd, but if the band wants to distribute it only by themselves, it's their choice. I contacted them on this matter, but no answer.
Eventually, I ordered 2 copies for about 39€ including shipment (but telling me that VAT was deducted from my total and that I would be responsable for any VAT payment on import - I'm located in Belgium)
So far, so good...
Last week, I received a letter from the mail company telling me that charges for my delivery amounts another 37€ !!! (and in general: from july on, all orders from outside the EU will be bound to extra local customs and taxes). I was expecting to pay some extras on local customs and VAT, but never thought this amount would raise that high! Oh well, I just became a bit wiser again ????
They were expecting my payment withing 3 days, if not the item would be returned to sender. And I've checked it (they are legal)
Anyone experienced/experiencing the same thing? (I knew the brexit was never a good idea anyway)
I have a few favourite artists from outside the EU which I would like to support, but paying these extras in the future? I don't think so....
