Re: Kent Hilli - I can't wait'

I can't agree with either of you. I don't think he's lacking passion, soul, warmth, or is simply just able to "hit the notes."
I'm not saying he's as good as Jamison or that I like him as much as Jamison. But he is a d@mn good singer and he's not lacking anything (IMHO, of course). He's singing at a time in MHR music when it's awfully hard to be considered original. And to boot, I honestly believe that a lot of folks just look at the past with rose-colored glasses and that they've smashed those glasses into pieces or lost them in their purses (oops, I mean satchels) when it comes to how they view modern MHR.
Of course the Perrys, Gramms, and Jamisons are AOR legends, and they deserve every bit of their legendary status. Not far below them, we have the Renos, Wettons, DeYoungs, Shaws, etc., all of whom rank way up there near the top. But there are modern-day AOR singers out there who wouldn't be out of place in that upper echelon as well. Robbie Lablanc and Dennis Ward come immediately to mind, and I'd say that this Kent Hilli is carving out a place for himself alongside these modern legends.
