But it’s not about whether they were melodic rock bands, it’s about their influence on the groups that became melodic rock bands...and it’s hard to argue against it, to be honest.
I know you’re not a fan but that doesn’t change the facts. I mean look at Eddie Cochrane, his stuff was massively influential. Little Richard, Bill Haley, Jerry Lee Lewis. Add the Beatles and Stones, The Animals etc, etc. That’s where melodic rock came from.
