You’re wasting your time, Preacher. Because really, the dumb asses, hate group mongers, thugs and terrorist scum that showed up at the capital (disgusting that anyone would call these people “patriots”) are just a symptom of a bigger problem. Which is the other Trump supporters- the ones that aren’t spineless sycophants, and have the intellectual capacity to know better- the so-called “members of polite society” who in the name of supporting political positions that served their personal self-interests were willing to look the other way and sell their souls into moral bankruptcy. They’ve been complicit in 4 years of intellectual hackery including disingenuous rationalizations, peddling of disinformation and outright lies, dog whistles to oppose Joe Biden (“Socialist!” yeah, right)- and some will still swear up and down that Hillary Clinton would have been worse (denying a pandemic that has cost half a million American lives? Inducing supporters not to wear lifesaving masks? Embracing white nationalists? Staffing the White House with a cohort of other felons and incompetents? Giving Vladimir Putin a free pass on targeting U.S. troops and attacking U.S. cyber security? Inciting his lemmings to commit an act of sedition?)

I have lots of friends and associates who bought into the “Trump as businessman” myth/ hype 4 years ago. They held their noses and voted for him- but came to regret it pretty quickly, as anyone with sense could see where this shit show was heading. In the wake of yesterday’s events, anyone who 2 months ago still voted for enabling this cancer on American democracy for another 4 years is getting exactly what they asked for.
