Look up his popularity numbers over the past four years. They never got higher than 45-48%. I know several people who voted for Trump four years ago, some successful entrepreneurs, others in the middle class who got squeezed dry by taxes and stagnating wages. I totally got why they voted for Trump. He promised them tax cuts, which he did, and to bring back blue collar jobs in the Midwest. He clearly broke that promise. None of them voted for him again. And that's why he got the boot. And because he totally mismanaged Covid. Had he actually cared and made an effort so save lives (and jobs!) instead of telling people not to wear masks, he might have won a second term.
