Synthwave or Just AOR?

Seems like there are more and more "retrowave" or "synthwave" acts incorporating guitars and a straight up 80s AOR style into their latest releases. I guess that's the natural evolution for these bands now.
A few examples below. Definitely not for all and I'll admit it all continues to be very pop. Still, there are elements of mid-80s AOR to some of this stuff now. Maybe more than ever before.
