As for the album's production goes, I think this is the best Tony has done behind the desk. Play it loud and everything locks clearly into place. It also sounds great at lower volumes, unlike many previous TC productions. Apparently he thinks there's only one way to listen to or play music, and that is at 11!
And there's zero to no chance of them using an outside producer in the future, because a) they don't want to, and b) money.
It's no secret that Tony hated the Wings Of Heaven recording process, and he doesn't really think much of that album as a whole. So for someone like me who places WOH at the top or close to it of the entire pile, well we just have to take what we are given and kiss the ring hoping for more :D The dense, heavy production that Tony favors coupled with the slower overall speed of the songs these days does make the albums a little tougher to connect with, but they are all still very much worth the effort IMO. Even Princess Alice, which sounds like it was recorded inside a muddy cave, has some wonderful moments. But OASTN sounds like it was recorded inside a muddy cave as well, so that's probably what Tony was trying to match!
