Sir Roger Moore - R.I.P

Very sad to hear about Sir Roger passing away. 89 years old - a long life well lived. In truth, he couldn't have been further away from Fleming's depiction of James Bond, yet he was the one who effectively ensured the films became the franchise that exists today. Lazenby made a great movie in On Her Majesty's Secret Service but it didn't do well and he remains by far the worst Bond. So after Connery's semi-committed / pay cheque grabbing return in Diamonds Are Forever the series was in trouble. But it was Rog to the rescue. Not immediately as his first two films didn't perform well, but then The Spy Who Loved Me changed all of that.

True, he'd probably have lost a fight with a wet paper bag, but he had charm and charisma to burn. And no one could deliver a knowing one-liner like him. So R.I.P Rog and thanks for the memories. We'll keep the British end up for you....
