This album was considered a return to form for the band after they had their last few albums produced by big time name producers and those albums all flopped. Jack Douglas is listed as the producer of this one. The band has stated that he really was not involved being his mental health was not in a good place after his friend John Lennon's death. This album also flopped. Probably the best 80's era Cheap Trick album that has Jon Brandt on bass. Not a bad song on it. Since Arnel joined, I've had a love/hate relationship with the output. There are some songs that are undeniably really good. But there are some that just either fall flat or are outright cringy to me.

But, the recent thread about 'Eclipse' has brought me around to giving this era another shot.

I dialed up 'Freedom' and the opening track "Together We Run" is pretty strong.

We'll see what happens.

Just released today. Recorded in Nashville with a host of top-tier studio musicians, it is refreshingly "real" sounding. Your mileage might vary on how much you like country-western music but it is a real strong group of songs IMO. Though sometimes a bit clunky and on-the-nose, Brandon's lyrics are often filled with strong imagery that lend themselves well to the broad spundscape.

Vivian was in remission last year after 12 years of treatment but he's recently said the cancer (Hodgkin's lymphoma) has come back again. poor bugger. wishing him all the best for the next round of treatment.

He's been with the band for 34 years now. Have seen the band everytime they tour down under since then and they never disappoint irrespective of same old setlist.

Keep seeing your favourite rock stars while you can.

I've kinda ignored Bryan Adams' output since '11'. No real reason. I kinda liked '11'. I've just been all over the place musically since then.

I was jamming WUTN on the way to work and I got interested enough to go down the Wikipedia rabbit hole on his discography and saw that 'Get Up' was produced by Jeff Lynne. Interest: Piqued.

I dig ELO. I dig Traveling Wilburys. I wanted to hear how this collab would play out so I dialed it up on YT.

I love the blending of Beatles-esque psychedelia and vintage rock and roll at play here. I'll be picking this up AND I'll be revisiting BA's later catalog along the way.

I see zero talk about this album but it’s bloody great fun if you ask me. Doesn’t even really sound like Ghost anymore either - well a bit but not as blatant as before. They remind me of Nestor more now. The choruses are super addictive after a while and will book themselves in your brain hotel for a permanent vacation. Fave tracks Elephant in the Room, Victoria and Dead & Breakfast.

This second album that they had Arnel on lead vox was considered a flop and a big disappointment. I do not understand why? Neil has said that this album was a more rocking album that ignored ballads. And yet it had a few big ballads on it that rivaled their biggest ballads that everyone knows of. I agree that this one has some really great rocking, prog type of songs on it, but so did "Escape" and "Frontiers". This was still not as heavy as say Iron Maiden. Not one bad track on this IMHO. These tracks would never cross over to mainstream media in 2011. Come on, mainstream media would never play "Don't stop believing" if it would have been released in 2011. This is just a massive album that I cannot find fault with regardless of what some board members have said in the past. A very high energy album. I never considered this band to be something that I would love when MTV was pushing them back in the early 90's and they were breaking big in the Alt/Grunge category. Then they put out their album "Dosage" in 1999, and I discovered that the band had morphed and matured into a Bonafide AOR/ serious Mel-rock type of band. They lost those phony flannel shirts wearing fans that were appalled when the band went "commercial". But come on, every member of this board should be singing the praises of this band being that they have put out non-stop albums that feature nothing but Mel-rock hooks and riffs and production that make us happy. This album from 2000 Is a start to finish masterpiece. It even features Elton John on one track. I feel that if Bon Jovi and especially Def Lep would have taken this type of songwriting and production to heart, they would have put out some seriously good albums that would have fit into modern times.
