She had a phenomenal, ethereal voice, and was at the forefront of a truly unique band that were mystical and Celtic as well as being more than capable of some rousing trad Irish music. Another one gone too soon.
Been on Geoff Tate's Operation: Mindcrime the final chapter concert - must see (8 replies)

Geoff Tate's Operation: Mindcrime - the final chapter tour had it's stop yesterday in packed Boogaloo club in Zagreb, Croatia.

Supporting artists were Keops (Croatia), Inner Vitriol (Italy) and Masterplan (Germany). Keops and Inner Vitriol were ok, Masterplan did a really good job to satisfy part of attendees wearing Helloween shirts and jacket patches, but - stars of the evening were Geoff Tate and his young and skilled backing band.

This was one of the best concerts I ever attended. Band was hungry and very precise - after years of wandering, this was Geoff Tate back in action, in full power.

Geoff Tate's backing band is:
guitarist Dario Parente (Italy)
guitarist James Brown (Ireland)
guitarist Amaury Altmayer (France)
bassist Jimmy Wynen (Australia)
drummer Michele Panepinto (Italy)
keyboardist & vocalist Clodagh McCarthy (Ireland)

Only a few people showed any interest in paying for meet and greet with Geoff and band, but Clodagh's husband Tomas McCarthy was carrying the banner very enthusiastically. I hope he earned for his paycheck. Maybe next time Geoff will give him a spot as supporting act, because Tomas is interesting artist in his own right.

Setlist:

complete Operation: Mindcrime album:
I Remember Now - prerecorded
Anarchy-X - instrumental
Revolution Calling
Operation: Mindcrime
Speak
Spreading the Disease
The Mission
Suite Sister Mary - duet with Clodagh McCarthy as Sister Mary, very energetic and theatric performance of Clodagh, never seen anything like it in my life, after seeing this, you might forget Pamela Moore
The Needle Lies
Electric Requiem
Breaking the Silence
I Don't Believe in Love
Waiting for 22 - instrumental
My Empty Room
Eyes of a Stranger

Empire (from Empire)
Walk in the Shadows (from Rage for Order)
Jet City Woman (from Empire)
Take Hold of the Flame (from The Warning)

Encore:
Silent Lucidity (from Empire)
Queen of the Reich (from Queensryche EP)

He was a cancer at Frontiers as far I am concerned.

These new singles are terrible. Why the hell are Hardline playing Euro rock/metal over the more American hard rock sound of the debut and what they started out as.

I realize that ADV is probably writing all the songs and Johnny just comes in and records when he needs to, but why aren't you writing stuff like Love's A Bitch and Takin' Me Down. Basically with Schon's involvement - Hardline was a heavier Journey/Bad English mixed in with American hair metal. So why this Euro metal garbage?

Am I alone here on this?

IRON MAIDEN Can I Play With Madness... (26 replies)

Bombarded with Seventh Son anniversary posts on FB LOL, being a favourite of mine (favourite album art too), I do listen to this album a lot but I got to thinking about Can I Play With Madness...

Generally not liked by Maiden fans or at least not nowdays, I wonder had they not released CIPWM as lead single could it have fared better? Because while it chartered very high it doesn't seem to have survived the criticism and can appreciate it would've been a bit polarising for fans, even after the synth heavy Somewhere In Time.

So while I do like the song a lot, I do feel The Evil That Men Do would've been better choice for the lead single, that or The Clairvoyant. And if that were the case how might CIPWM had fared if relegated to one of the album's deep cuts?

Anyway yeah, what are folks thoughts, on Can I Play With Madness these days, and the album in general?

I didn’t know they were working on one tbh, seems quite soon after The Bitter Truth which I loved, about as much as Fallen.

This? To me it’s fine but strikes me as Evanescence by numbers. On this basis I’m prepared to be a bit disappointed with the album, apart from several songs. That was the case with the albums in between Fallen and TBT but I may be more pleasantly surprised of course!

Amy Lee still has a great voice!

We are very proud to announce the follow-up release to “Eric Martin Band – Sucker For A Pretty Face” with the release of “Looks Can Be Deceiving”. Available on both CD and vinyl. FIRST 100 ORDERS WILL SHIP THIS UPCOMING WEEK, SO DON’T DELAY!!!

https://metallicbluerecords.com/search?q=Eric+Martin+Band&options%5Bprefix%5D=last

Only problem for me is the shipping costs are far too much to the UK (has been discussed on this forum before regarding the 415, pre-Eric Martin Band releases).
