Rich Davenport's Rock Show - MICHAEL SCHENKER and STEVE HUNTER

GUITAR LEGENDS MICHAEL SCHENKER AND STEVE HUNTER INTERVIEWED ON RICH DAVENPORT'S ROCK SHOW

Rich Davenport's Rock Show this week features in-depth interviews with legendary guitar heroes  Michael Schenker (UFO, Scorpions, MSG) and Steve Hunter (Alice Cooper, Lour Reed, Peter Gabriel), and is available now for streaming at this link
http://www.mixcloud.com/richdav1/rich-davenports-rock-show-michael-schenker-steve-hunter-alice-cooper-lou-reed-interviews/

First up, Michael Schenker talks about what fans can expect from the set list as his 'Bridge The Gap' tour hits the UK this week. Michael discusses working with former Scorpions compadres Francis Bucholz (bass) and Herman Rarebell (drums) in his Temple of Rock band, and also outlines the way in which both the band, and his songwriting partnerships with vocalist Doogie White (ex Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen) and rhythm guitarist / keyboard player Wayne Findlay, have developed on forthcoming new album 'Spirit on a Mission'. Michael chooses a song from 'Bridge the Gap', and you'll also hear a Scorpions classic from the 'Temple of Rock Live In Europe' album.

The show also features tracks from both support bands for Michael's UK tour, Western Sand, a promising UK rock outfit, and State Villains (playing the London date), who feature Michael's son, Tyson Schenker, on guitar.

Steve Hunter, whose sublime guitar playing has graced albums and tours from the likes of Alice Cooper, Lou Reed and Peter Gabriel, also drops in to discuss his two most recent releases, studio album 'The Manhattan Blues Project'(featuring guests including  Joe Satriani, Joe Perry and Johnny Depp), and live CD/DVD 'Tone Poems Live'. In the words of guitar hero Joe Satriani, "Steve Hunter is a great guitarist; and his influence on the American rock guitar style is huge,' and you'll hear exactly what Satch means on tracks from both 'Tone Poems Live' and 'The Manhattan Blues Project.

The show's regular Phil Lynott tribute feature this week puts the spotlight on late Small Faces/Faces keyboard player Ian McLagan, who passed away this week, with a track from Thin Lizzy's 'Fighting' album featuring McLagan on piano.

You can also listen on Thursday 11th December 07:00-09:00 on www.totalrock.com, and on hot new Texas rock and metal station KXZR Radio at www.kxzr.fm

R.I.P. DICK WAGNER, Former Alice Cooper Guitarist

Artist:
R.I.P Dick Wagner. Another big loss to the rock world.

'Dick Wagner was the consummate gentleman axeman,' Kiss' Gene Simmons says.

Dick Wagner, the guitarist, songwriter and bandleader who worked with Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, Kiss and Aerosmith, among others, died Wednesday (July 30) at the age of 71 in Phoenix.

Wagner, who was also part of the groups The Frost and Ursa Major, had been hospitalized after contracting a lung infection following heart surgery in early July. Though he had posted a Facebook message on July 21 saying "I can't wait to play for you all again one day soon" -- signed "Dick'N THE ICU" -- Wagner was in a medically induced coma at the time of his death from respiratory failure.

"Dick Wagner was the consummate gentleman axeman. (He) will be missed," Kiss' Gene Simmons said in a statement on Wednesday, noting that Wagner played the "blistering" guitar solo on the Destroyer track "Sweet Pain." Kiss frontman Paul Stanley had this to say: "Dick was a stellar player and his work with Steve Hunter on Lou Reed's Rock&Roll Animal is legendary. He also did great work with Alice Cooper and uncredited ghosting on Destroyer and albums by some of our contemporaries. A huge talent with a huge tone and huge heart. A great unsung hero."

ALICE COOPER All-American Boy Exposed InTheStudio

Artist:
Alice Cooper, All-American Boy Exposed InTheStudio

Dallas, TX - July 15, 2014.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio with Redbeard: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands presents a tutorial on why little boys shouldn't play with meat cleavers, nooses, high voltage, snakes, and Mommy's make-up and fishnet stockings'unless you plan on going into show business as the King of Shock Rock, Alice Cooper!

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper is on the road and on the big screen this summer, touring with his rock progeny Motley Crue (just one of the hundreds which Cooper inspired), and featured in a new documentary film/dvd titled Super Duper Alice Cooper, so the time seems right for Alice's brand of wrong for InTheStudio.

The band Alice Cooper made notorious headlines but few fans when they first appeared on the radio in 1971 with Love It to Death. Alice's stage act then was confrontational, even horrifying, and without the campy humor that would inform the act just two years later on Billion Dollar Babies

But what made Alice Cooper a household name was the savvy string of hits, indelibly changing the rock concert world while revolutionizing American Top 40 radio at the same time with 'I'm Eighteen', 'Under My Wheels', 'Be My Lover', 'School's Out', 'Elected', 'No More Mister Nice Guy', 'Welcome to My Nightmare' and 'Only Women Bleed' from five Top 10-selling albums.

The career ride for Alice Cooper careened from the whole band sleeping in one motel room to the covers of Time and Newsweek magazines; from fairways to national airwaves; from rehab to Rock Hall in 2011.  Alice reflects with InTheStudio host Redbeard on why Alice Cooper connected then, and lives on today.

' I think it was because we were such a shock to the nation, image-wise. We were the band that drove the stake through the heart of the Love Generation. Everything that the hippies didn't believe in. For the first time in a long time music was not political, it was fun! Alice Cooper was like the biggest juvenile delinquent Rock and Roll horror show of all time. But not only the image was there, the most important thing in our mind was the fact that the music has to stand up years from now. It has to stand up even after they forgot what we did on stage.'

ALICE COOPER INDUCTED INTO WHITE CASTLE HALL OF FAME

Artist:
ALICE COOPER INDUCTED INTO WHITE CASTLE HALL OF FAME

Photo ID left to right: VP Jamie Richardson, CEO Bill Ingram, Marci Ingram, Sheryl Cooper, Alice Cooper, White Castle President Lisa Ingram, Corporate Relations Manager Erin Shannon

New York, NY (July 8, 2014)- Dreams can come true, as rock icon Alice Cooper can attest, following his induction into the White Castle Cravers Hall of Fame at White Castle headquarters in Columbus, Ohio on July 7th, 2014. As a child of Detroit, Alice learned to love White Castle's iconic sliders at an early age, and has never lost his taste for them over the years.   He also learned to love rock and roll, and pursue his career in a band, and achieved induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.

Little did he know that another Hall of Fame, also in Ohio, was in his destiny.

Following a tour of White Castle headquarters led by Bill, Marci and Lisa Ingram (the company is a fourth-generation family-owned business), company VP Jamie Richardson conducted a brief  chat with Alice in a room full of White Castle employees, including a band that performed some of Alice's songs (he actually JOINED them for "No More Mr Nice Guy," much to their surprise), and then Alice was presented with a plaque commemorating his induction into their White Castle Cravers Hall of Fame.

Said Alice, "a lot of my fellow rockers are going to be envious of this honor."  Asked how it compared to being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Alice responded "there's no comparison," carefully ducking the question.

The stop at White Castle headquarters took place on a day off during Alice's summer tour as Very Special Guests to Motley Crue on their "All Bad Things Must Come to An End" tour, which plays the Schottenstein Center in Columbus tonight as part of the 72 show run.  The summer tour continues through August 31, and then resumes in autumn, October 10 through November 22.

Alice has often talked about his love of White Castle in interviews and on his syndicated "Nights With Alice Cooper" radio program, and served White Castle at the party following the premiere of the "Super Duper Alice Cooper" documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival in April in New York City.  The documentary, produced by Banger Films (same team that produced the award-winning Iron Maiden and Rush documentaries), has recently been released in both DVD and Blu-Ray by Eagle Rock Entertainment.
