Wild Frontier – Bite the bullet 2007 (Prime Entertainment/ Point Music)
Hardrockers Wild Frontier have earned a growing reputation and recognition since their 1994 debut “One Way To Heaven” and the following albums. The melodic rock quartet perfectly combines skill and commitment and their hard work is bearing fruits more and more. Having played about 250 gigs during the last years, the four piece is hailed as an excellent live band, and their unique combination of dynamic hard rock with both melody and soul made them a household name to a steadily increasing number of followers.
“We're doing exactly the music we like to – nobody tells us what do” quotes singer and guitar player Jens Walkenhorst. Still playing the classic hardrock they did since the very beginning, the main man and his three comrades-in-arms, bass player Mario Erdmann, keyboarder Thomas Ellenberger and drummer Sebastian Gröning, tried to avoid drastic musical changes. The past showed that classic hard rock bands had their problems after jumping on a bandwagon.
“Our role models were and still are Gary Moore and Bon Jovi when they became famous. You definitely shouldn't close your eyes and ears to new music but keep true to what you are best in!”
Fans know what to get when purchasing a Wild Frontier record. February 2007 offer the next example with their newest effort entering the shops. Many promotional activities will follow the release. “Bite The Bullet” is the band's most various CD to date, containing ranges from the uptempo rocker to the compulsory ballad. The first edition will not only feature a re-recorded version of “I Can't Believe” (taken from the long out of print debut CD) but a cover of Russ Ballard's “I Know There's Something Going On”. This tune was a chart success for Frida back in the 80's. Ballard himself gave his okay to the Wild Frontier version by telling the guys that their effort sounds closer to his original demo than the one which was released by Frida.
“We can only succeed at full throttle”. This was the statement of Jens Walkenhorst to his band mates at the beginning of production work. Some 18 months later, the result speaks for itself. This album can be recommended to every hard rock lover, because it was done by fans especially for their fans!
