“Afterlife” by PAUL SHORTINO and J.K. NORTHRUP is the new signing of MTM MUSIC, both highly recommended and acclaimed musicians.
JK NORTHRUP has had much success as a guitarist, songwriter and producer through the years. In 1982 JK NORTHRUP begun his career as lead guitarist for Billy Thorpe (CHILDREN OF THE SUN), touring the United States and Australia which included band members Frankie Banelli (QUIET RIOT) and Bruce Turgon (FOREIGNER), opening for such bands as CHEAP TRICK and TED NUGENT as well as headlining many shows. He formed the band NORTHRUP with singer Johnny Edwards (MONTROSE, FOREIGNER, ROYAL JELLY). One song they wrote together “Ready For The Rain” was later recorded on the FOREIGNER “Unusual Heat” in 1991. They also recorded and performed on the KING KOBRA “III”.
1991-1994: Recorded, wrote, played guitars and produced the PAUL SHORTINO “Back On Track” CD featuring Jeff Northrup. The CD featured many other great recording artists including, Carmine Appice, James Kottak (SCORPIONS, KINGDOM COME), Jeff Pilson (DOKKEN), Sean McNabb (HOUSE OF LORDS, GREAT WHITE), Matt Bissonette (DAVID LEE ROTH) and TOTO singer Bobby Kimball.
In 1995-1997 he recorded, co-wrote, played guitars and produced the self titled CD CAGE with singer Terry Ilous (XYZ). This CD also featured a who's who of artists including musicians from DIO, BLACK SABBATH, OZZY, MOTLEY CRUE, THE FIRM, BLUE MURDER, BILLY IDOL.
1998: Co-worte, played guitars and co-produced the CD “Flynn, The Day I Spoke To Dog” with singer Terry Ilous. This CD also featured another legendary drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (STING among others)
The JK NORTHRUP "Play it on 11" Best Of CD was released July 8 2002 on MTM MUSIC.
His last release was on MTM's XYZ "Letter to God". He played guitars, engineered co-wrote and co-produced the CD with Terry Ilous.
Paul Shortino is an outstanding vocalist known from his professional work for a numerous number of bands such as QUIET RIOT, ROUGH CUTT, BAD BOYZ, MITCH PERRY, etc. Paul was touring all around the world and performed on a lot of tribute albums. In 1987, his peers acknowledged Paul for his outstanding contribution in helping to build a shelter for homeless and runaway children. The recognition is for his efforts in the rock musician organization known as “Children of the Night”.
One song of “Afterlife” was already featured on the latest MTM MUSIC COMPILATION Vol. 9.
The songs “Crazy Mind”, “Gypsy Sould” and “Slave To The Feeling” are featuring Johnny Edwards (MONTROSE, KING KOBRA, FOREIGNER, ROYAL JELLY) and “Feel Again” features a guest guitar appearance of AOR guru Tommy Denander.
