Artist Bio
John West is one of the most talented vocalist of the whole international Hard Rock scene. He began his musical career appearing as a drummer / singer in local bands in Cortland, N.Y. at the age of 14. He then became frontman at the age of 18. In 1992 John moved to Los Angeles to join Badlands, replacing vocalist Ray Gillen.

He toured with them until the band eventually broke-up. He also worked with guitarist Michael Lee Firkins, Marc Ferrari, James Murphy, Lynch Mob and the late Cozy Powell. Between 1997 and 1998 he released two solo albums entitled: “Mind Journey” (1997) and “Permanent Mark” (1998) and started his collaboration with the progressive Metal band Artension with whom he has released so far seven studio albums.

In the summer of 1999 he was approached by Royal Hunt to fly to Copenhagen, Denmark and meet with the band regarding the open lead singer position in the band. After a couple of days in the studio, both parties felt comfortable with each other.
A few weeks later, the decision was made. John West was on his way to start the recording of his first album with Royal Hunt - "Fear". The release of "Fear" was soon followed by a World Tour and in the summer 2001 by the release of the concept album “The Mission” plus a full-length bonus album, "The Watchers" six months later.
He later released in 2002 the 'Earth Maker' album project, a concept piece based on the journeys of the Native American mythical spirit Shenandoah.

West went then back to his Royal Hunt singer position and released with them the "Eyewitness" and the most recent and successful "Paper Blood" albums. The band toured Europe in September 2005 and upon his return in the US he completed his brand new solo album entitled "Long Time No Sing", written and recorded together with long-time collaborators and friends Lonnie Park on keyboards, Chris Caffery (Savatage) on keyboards and guitars, Jeff Plate (Savatage) on drums and Kevin Hampton on guitars.

This time John opted for a more melodic and song oriented approach and the resulting record is a mixture of the several Hard Rock influences. A musically intense and passionate work with a very satisfying production which makes the record very accessible and listenable thanks to the great performances by the musicians and artists involved.
