We have also bought Best Of albums, or Rarities Compilations only to finds labels and artists that have left off vital tracks or obvious hits.

First off, I have no clue rather or not Autograph released any best of compilations. I made this because I couldn't find one.

Basically, I took five tracks from each of Autograph's four albums and made a best of compilation. Unfortunately, my CD burner doesn't recognize any CD-R bigger than 74 minutes (or it only uses 74 minutes on a 80 or 90 minute disk). So, of course, several tracks had to be axed off the list. Here are the victims:
Take No Prisoners (Ok song, but not good enuf)
Blondes In Black Cars (My friends like it, but why?)
Loud and Clear (Very average title track)
When I'm Gone (Good song, actually. Just no room for it on the CD-R).
Love Comes Easy (One too many tracks I'm afraid)

So the list drops from 20 to 15 tracks. The other 5 will just have to pray I make a cassette version of the compilation.

This compilation of ballads was initially titled Precious Metal, but it kept getting more diverse as I compiled it so I changed the title to a more generic Rock orientation even though the all over feel is definitely of a Metal texture.

To keep the project from growing uncontrollably I decided that, just as in any good compilation, each group/band could appear only once. I didn't mind if the same vocalist was in several times but tried to keep those songs on separate albums (Ozzy, for instance, is on three albums). Also, I have a problem with songs that attract rodents. Not that the compilation is completely without cheese, but I've tried to keep it to a minimum. At least the ones left feels genuine.

And, yes I know Bonnie Tyler and Michael Jackson is in there, artists considered not to be even rock. But to my ears "Total eclipse" and "Give in to me" are rock ballads. Go dig up something better to put in if you can't stand 'em. My concern was the overall feel of that one song, not what the rest of every artists catalog sounds like.

Strangely enough Treat is in my top 5 bands, probably 2nd favourite of all time and I was hoping to put ‘Get you on the run’ on all of them, but it never happened. Danger Danger are also up there in my top 5 and ‘Don’t break my heart again’ would have been on the 1st one had I had it then, and I’m not sure if ‘I do’ is my favourite track of theirs - there are just some unbeatably spine chilling moments in that song -‘We’re dead to the world but you’re still my girl’. Haunting. Anyway, my point is that although these are the songs I felt most at the time I know there are better songs and these are not necessarily all my favourite bands - just some of the most sincere songs I have in my collection. There is no way in the world ‘The dream is over’ is Jaded Heart’s 2nd best song. Most the debut is better than that, but my dream was over at the time and that’s why it’s there, plus it is a brilliant song.
