MelodicRock.com would like to extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to all those that have lost family or friends in this tragedy. Nothing can be done to make up for this most wretched event, but the prayers and thoughts of all melodicrock readers are with the families affected.

The following people would like to say:

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was either in or affected by this. This is such a tragedy but it looks like the former manager of Great White is going to jail for it and the club owners.

i see a lot of people slamin the night club owners. is it not true that if any ones two blame its all that were involved ?. i think great white was as negligent as the owners.any one that would expect two lite up a ten foot spray of sparks at an eight foot tall celing coverd in foam rubber would you not think this guy or thease guys are not just as responcible ? or even more so shure it was an accident.. but if you let your friend drive drunk are you not just as guilty when he gets into an accedent?.... of corse you are you cant just walk in to a place burn it down and say he said i could .dont get me wrong i love the band but befour evry one slams the owners of the club let the courts decide its a terible lesson and my heart goes out two all the survivers and the victoms familys who will live so much emptier lives because of some irrisponcible act that should have been stoped befour it started . life is precious....god bless all even the bar owners and band members

A terrible tragedy that I haven't yet forgotten. Even though I didn't know anyone affected I still feel sorrow and shock. I pray that everyone is coming to peace over this.

14/02/05: Jude - BMETS1@aol.com
As the 2nd anniversary of the tragic events of The Station fire approaches, I want to express my deepest sympathy to all that lost friends and loved ones that night. It has taken me 2 years to express my feelings to you, as the event was so overwhelming to me, a fan of rock music for many years. No words could express my feelings and sympathy for all of you. I am reminded each time I think of that tragic night of how I myself spent many nights in clubs out to enjoy a night filled with music without reflecting on a possiblity of a tragedy occuring, as I am sure the victims and survivors did not think of such a thing as well that night. You are all still in my thoughts and prayers to this day, even 2 years after the event and I will continue to think of you all. Donations, support, friendship and love to the victims family and to the survivors are extended from me and I may be contacted at BMETS1@aol.com In continued sympathy...Jude

We RI'ders have been scorched for life excuse the pun! For such a small state we are now an American News item. It's the families and the victims who have got lost in all of this. I use to live up the street from there. What a tragedy to see the rubble left, yet beautiful memorials by all. What a testimony to true RI spirit!
May we all learn to recover and yet not lose sight of this tragedy....ever!!! It must never never happen again!!!
My thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims and their families!

09/12/03: DENNIS - AUDIOPHILAHOLIC1@AOL.COM
AS A TRUE FAN OF ALL TYPES OF ROCK MUSIC, THE BAND THAT SUMS UP TRUE ROCK AND ROLL IS GREAT WHITE. I HAVE COLLECTED ALL THERE CD'S AND OUT OF PRINT AND IMPORT ALBUMS. I WAS STUNNED TO HEAR ABOUT THE FIRE AND ALL THE LIVES THAT HAD TRAGICALLY BEEN CUT SHORT. I FEEL FOR THERE FAMILIES AND THERE LOVED ONES.BEING THAT I HAVE MET JACK RUSSEL IN ST LOUIS WHILE TOURING WITH TRIXTER AND KISS, I FOUND THEM TO BE A HUMBLE BAND THAT WAS HAPPY TO MAKE MUSIC TO THE PEOPLE THAT WANTED TO HEAR THEM. IT IS THE BIGGEST SHAME THAT THE BEAUTIFUL GIFT THAT GOD GAVE US, THE GIFT OF MUSIC, HAD TURN SO PAINFUL FOR THE ONES THAT LOVE THAT GIFT. I,FOR ONE, WILL CONSTANTLY LOVE THAT GIFT.
I READ SOME OF THE MESSAGES HERE AND THE ONE SONG THAT CAME TO ME IS FLY TO THE ANGELS (THEN I SAW THAT SOME ONE WAS THINKING THE SAME). LIVES WILL END EVERY DAY. THERE IS NO STOPPING THAT. BUT A SONG WILL LIVE ON FOR EVER. THERE WILL BE NO STOPPING MUSIC. UNFORTUNATLY, THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME FOR CONCERT GOERS. IT HAS HAPPENED TO THE BEST. THE WHO AND THE ROLLING STONES HAVE HAD TRAGEDIES AND THEY ALSO EXPRESSED THERE SARROW. IN THE YEARS, THEY HAVE CAME THROUGH AND BEEN STRONG AND ARE STILL ROCKING TO THAT BEAUTIFUL GIFT OF MUSIC.
MOST OF THE FANS THAT HAVE DIED ARE MISSED. THERE IS NO DENYING THAT. IF THOSE VICTIMS COULD TALK, CHANCES ARE THEY WOULD STILL HAVE THAT THRIVE TO LET THE MUSIC PLAY AND DANCE AND SING. THAT IS A PART OF LIFE THAT WILL GO ON WHEN YOU AND I ARE GONE
TO GREAT WHITE, WELL THE WHO DID IT, THE STONES DID IT, INXS DID IT, KISS DID IT ECT. STAY STRONG. WITH GOD ON YOUR SIDE AND STRENTH IN YOUR HEART AND A WILL FOR LIFE, YOU WILL EMERGE FROM THIS DARK MOMENT AND WILL SOON BRING BACK THAT GIFT THAT WE JUST LOVE TO HEAR FROM THE BAND "great white"
TO THE CLUB OWNERS, IF YA DID NOT ALLOW PYROS IN THE CLUB, WHY DID YOUR STAFF LET THE ROADIES CARRY THEM THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR? I THINK YOU WOULD HAVE LET THEM BRING A HARRIER JET INSIDE KNOWING THE AFTER BURNER WOULD BE BONE CRUSHING!!!!!!!!! FACE UP TO THE MUSIC THAT SET LIVES TO EARLY GRAVES!!!!!!!!! I HAVE BEEN TO MANY SMALL CLUBS BY MANY 80'S AND 90'S BANDS AND ALL THEM CLUBS WERE TOO PACKED FOR A DAMN SPARKLER!!!!!!!!!!
SINCERLY WITH LOVE FOR MUSIC
DENNIS / AUDIO

18/07/03: Annie Olivo - TinasBestFriend@yahoo.com
Hi All,
My name is Annie and I am from Providence,RI and I just
got the link to this site today. I would like to thank you from
the bottom of mt heart for all of the kind words that I have read
here.
I lost two dear friends to that fire. One being Mike "Dr. Metal"
Gonsalves. I worked with him years ago at 94 HJY and throughout
all of my years there, he became like family to me and pulled me
through a lot of heartaches and hard times and me laugh as well.
The other is Tina Ayer who I not only call mt best friend in the
whole world but also my soul twin. We've been friends for close
to 18 years. She taught me many things including that I could go
out and have a good time without drinking. I was with her everday and saw her kids grow. We have been to hell and back and still loved each other.
She was not only my best friend but she was also the dancer and backup singer for both of our bands, first the Alice Cooper Tribute Show, School's Out, who played at The Station many times and recently the band REAL LIVES an original band and show that is going to be ob tour soon. What a loss to the band!
Not only that, she was going to be my maid of honor and now that she is gone, there is not going to be a wedding. If I can't have Tina by my side, what is the point?
By the way, Tina is the girl who met Jack Russell and the band where she worked at the Fairfeild Inn as a maid.
I will NEVER get over the loss. I ask myself day after day, WHY?
Why was I and my boyfriend spared?
We were on the way to the show that night but had to turn back and go home because of the fuel pump on our van started to go.
I miss them!
-Annie

I was horrified to learn of this terrible event. I have seen Great White in concert three times, and think it's so sad that this had to happen at their show. They always do such a great performance. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Words....there are no right words to describe this tragedy. Words can't make it right again. All we can do is let the people involved know that we think of them and wish them all the strength they need.

07/03/03: Kerry - kerrycarr@blueyonder.co.uk
My feelings go out to all the people who lost family members, friends and loved ones, along with the members of Great White who've lost a friend and a great musician.
Just remember all the good times you've had together, never the bad....They will always be with you.
God bless

06/03/03: David R. Walls - drwalls@earthlink.net
I was horrified to see the recent tapes of that night. I have always loved Great White's music and will stand by them. I feel for the families that lost loved ones, but believe me they are in a much much better place. God had a plan for all of them that night, and as much as that hurts, just know there is a much grander picture for all of us. I have to applaud Jack, in the fact that he got on camera and let everyone know what he was feeling. I think there is more to this story, and the club owners, from what I have seen are lying, saying they didn't give approval. I think it is pretty sad that when anyone dies people have to resort to lying to cover their asses. I know there will be hard times but put your problems in God's hands and he will show you the way. God Bless to the families and to the band for all the pain and suffering you are encountering.

Sincerely,
David R. Walls

Great White was the first concert i ever saw.... Opening for Whitesnake. So the band has always been held dear to me, and have been a fan ever since.. and has influenced my musicianship in many ways.... i was shocked and horrified as i watched the morning news... i belive rock-n-rollers are like a huge family... its a must for us to all pull together in this saddened time and send our prayers and thoughts out to the familes of the lives lost, the loved ones lost, the injured and the survivors.

01/03/03: Shawn Key - skey@cghtech.com
Great White was the first band I ever saw in concert, opening up for Whitesnake back around 1987-1988. They, and others, inspired me to take playing seriously and really molded the way I approached music. Audie Desbrow helped shape the way I would play drums for decades. The point I wish to make is that I was inspired. I pray for the victims and families of this tragedy and hope their memories are honored and not forgotten and shadowed behind legal proceedings and finger pointing. The deceased and injured were probably inspired, one way or another, by the band, the club or their friends that they attended the show with. Loss of life is always tragic, but let's not forget that to inspire is one of the greatest gifts we can give on earth. Let's hope that inspiration can be found by someone, somehow through this horrible event.

Sincerely,
Shawn

I am sooo sad by this tragic event.Young lives just starting and ending so quickly and from the pictures i have seen of the deceased they were either handsome or very pretty. My hat is off to the rescuerers and heros though 300 people or more in a building that is going up totally in 3 minutes you got alot out in that time.To get two hundred out in that time is an awesome job.
I don't know any of the ones that perished but my heart bleeds for them all. May the good lord be with all the victims and the injured and the survivors that got out unharmed.

I was saddened when I heard about this tradgedy. I know that everyone who is a family member, or a personal friend of one or more of the victims is very down and depressed right now. They say that God works in mysterious ways; and the only positive, that I can see coming from this bad situation, is to take the lessons learned about doing pyrotechnics in a small wooden club like this (or any enviroment actually), and make very certain that all club or arena owners, bands, and sellers of pyrotechnic devices are made very aware of the associated dangers of using pyrotechnics so a dreadful accident like this is not allowed to happen again. Maybe there should be somekind of government enforced Pyrotechnic's Certification Certificate Test that venue owners, bands, and sellers of pyrotechnics should have to pass before being allowed to deal in them. May the Lord Jesus be with all of you in your time of mourning. You will be in my prayers.

It is always hard to say goodbye to those who have touched our lives, no matter how breif. Our hearts go out to all the familys who lost loved one's in this tragady. Though it is importaint to remember in this time of greif that life is short and precious and sometimes it is hard to endure the bad So we must embrace all the good that we can. As time goes on we must not let this tragady turn to anger run our lives as this was an accident and terrible tragady and nothing more. May peace and love be with all the family and friends.

26/02/03: MEBB - webmaster@metal-exiles.com
We would like to give our condolences to all who were touched by this tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and their lost ones. We are also saddened by the loss of Ty Longley and wish to send our condolences and prayers to his family, girlfriend Hedi, and unborn child. This was a horrific tragedy among the rock community.

26/02/03: Mark Curran - chaos@curranmm.fsnet.co.uk
I was so shocked when I began reading the reports on the web, the story went from bad to worse. I had been so excited by the prospect of having Great White come to the UK (as per their web site recently). Now it's probably never going to happen.

My friends and I are organizing a benefit gig here in Bristol UK.

Pass on our thoughts to all the families who have lost or have been hurt.

Let us learn and not be bitter

Mark Curran, Bristol, UK.

Despite being thousands of miles away I´d like to express my deepest feelings for all those, who were killed in this horrific and senseless accident, and also their families. I hope that the injured people will get well. I´m still shocked. I did also visit concerts of Great White, when they played over here in Europe. I can not even imagine if something like this would happen to my friends, when we are out on a concert and want to have fun. Nobody is to blame, but unjust fate. Hopefully such an tragedy will never happen again!!

26/02/03: JENNIFER - JenJohansen@comcast.net
We all have our tests in life and we are all pushed right up to the edge, but I don't believe we are given more than we can truly handle. I just like the rest of the world pray for those who parished, as well as their families and loved ones. I choose to remember that they were all gathered to celebrate...and that's what music allows us to do. Celebrate moments in time, ties that bind with friends that shared those moments while standing beside us. Something good will come, they have not died in vain.

25/02/03: CMaree - anonymous@anonymous.com
My heart is broken for all of those who suffered so terribly and senselessly in my home state 5 nights ago. There are no words, but I do hope that hate and anger and blame will not be allowed to overcome the important things: remembering forever those who died, coming together to support and comfort the survivors and families, and making sure each one of us appreciates the beauty of life. There are many lessons that can and must be taken from this horrible tragedy, but there can be no place for hate when we are mourning such wonderful people.

On a separate note, to George Dionne, Todd King, and all the others who so bravely came to tell your stories: you are heroes. Please don't second guess yourselves. You did all you could. Take care of yourselves and know an entire community is here for you.

My deepest sympathy to the victims, their families, their friends and the band (whom we know meant no harm to anyone). This is such a tragic situation and it is not over either since the legal wrangling has only begun. Every time I see the video my gut just wrenches and I wish someone could have done something... anything! I can only shake my head over and over in disbelief and frustration. If you are weary, please stay strong, because so many, like me, are praying for you all.

25/02/03: Ron Higgins - Johnnybravo9898@yahoo.com
My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone touched by this horrible tragedy. It really hits home for me because I've seen countless bands (including GW) in small clubs, many of which used pyro. It's such a shame to lose so many people who just wanted to go to work or see some good, live music. I live in Cincinnati, OH and remember the impact on our city and the world when 11 lives were tragically lost at The Who concert in the late '70s. This time, nearly 10 times that many were lost. Truly awful. Fortunately, some good came out of The Who tragedy with enactment of new laws, etc. Hopefully the same will occur this time so the lives lost won't be in vain. Those who are gone will never be forgotten. I, like many others, will never be able to go into a small club again without thinking about them. God Bless.

My heart and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this horrible tragedy. To those who are mourning the loss of a loved one, and to the fortunate few survivors...I pray that you are able to find strength in the memories of those who were lost...and that you are able to find comfort in knowing that they will live eternally with Christ. God bless all of you.

25/02/03: Greg - gregrosati@comcast.net
My deepest sympathies to the families and everyone involved. While this should have never happened and things should be put in place so it never happens again, I do believe it was all just a huge accident/mistake....when you organize an event like a concert there is always a chance things can go awry....putting that many people in a small place always has a risk, normally it is very slim, but the risk is still there. I have been to over 230 concerts over 15 years and never once has the thought of something like this entered my mind.....it is truely a sad sad thing. Changes need to be made to concert venues as well as the band's procedures involved with throwing a concert so that it never happens again.

This could have happened to any of us who enjoy going to small clubs and watching and listening to the music we love. This tragedy hits home in a big way. I was due to see Great White the following night in Springfield, VA. Who's to say the tragedy couldn't have happened there? Anyway, may the souls of those who have departed us rest in God's hands. Let us never forget this! If ANY good comes from this, its that it will make each and every one of us aware that life IS fragile and we must always be aware of our surroundings and be conscious of what steps must be taking in an emergency.
God bless those 97+ people who perished. Rock on in heaven!

My deepest condolences to all the family members of the
fans and to the band Great White.
Sometimes we can't understand how and why a tragedy like this would ever happen. It's hard to keep faith but at it's times like these we must pray for one another.

I was horrified to see what unfolded that morning. We watched people literally at the end of their lives on TV, truly sickening.
My heart goes out to all the families and to the members of the band.
Let's hope provisions are made to guarantee that this never happens again.

25/02/03: Steve Newman (Newman) - closer2newman@ic24.net
On behalf of the guys in the band we would like to say that we're, firstly, shocked, at the tragic events which occured at the Station. too many lives lost enjoying, and performing the music that we believe in.

But secondly, touched, by the amount of support and coming together of so many people from around the world to give strength to those families that have been affected by this tagedy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Steve.

I believe bars are no place for a pyro rock show. They should have used better judgement. These people that were at the show we my brothers and sisters. They were family. If I lived there I would have been there with them. I see Great White everytime they come to town and the fire could have happened in my town.I've mourned every day since the tragedy. I feel like I've lost part of my family. This will effect me the rest of my life.

My condolences to all involved. May God keep you strong and get you through this entire tragic ordeal. It's amazing
how so many of us can see ourselves in that same situation. I go to numerous shows in bars that are so similar to the
Station, there's no way everyone would ever have gotten out of any of those places. Let's never forget those who
perished and continue to support all the bands who work so hard to entertain all of us. Time will heal. We fortunately
didn't lose a life, but myself, my wife and two baby girls lost everything we owned last May to a tornado. We have
overcome, the community and our church came through for us and we are stronger than ever before. Keep the faith and
God Bless.

25/02/03: Ray Mcgettrick - raymac63@yahoo.com
What an absolute tragedy. My condolences go out to the friends and family of those who lost their lives and also to the injured - who's lives will never be the same again. I lived in Dublin, Ireland when a nightclub fire claimed 48 lives in 1981. Those people are still remembered today as will be those who perished at The Station Club after 22 years - and far beyond.

25/02/03: Spec - Spectrumhagar@aol.com
I pray that all the families who lost loved ones are seeking the help they need to understand this tragedy and I pray that God will help all of them through this terrible time. I continue to pray with my children for the families and hope that God will comfort them and keep them under His gentle hand as they heal.
I can't imagine what you're going through, and I pray that none of us ever have to live it.

24/02/03: JULIE - JULI68
NOTHING CAN BRING BACK WHAT YOU LOST. BUT MAYBE KNOWING THAT IT WON'T BE IN VAIN WILL HELP A LITTLE BIT. I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT WILL MAKE SURE I KNOW WHERE THE EXIT DOORS ARE NEXT TIME I GO TO A CONCERT. THERE WILL HOPEFULLY BE MORE SMALL VENUES THAT CHANGE HOW THEY TREAT PYROTECHNIC USE. AND MAYBE MORE PEOPLE WILL TAKE THE TIME TO SHOW HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT THOSE THEY LOVE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN. THE LOST LIVES OF THOSE 97 WILL HELP TO SAVE MANY MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW. I'M SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, BUT WE ARE BETTER FOR MEETING THEM NOW. JULIE

This is trully a very distrubing moment for all involved. How quick our lives can change in a matter of seconds. I have been to numerous club shows with pyro, where there was a lot more of it used that what I saw on video, and this could have happened when I was present at anyone of those shows with any of those other bands. It is just very sad. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families, friends and the band. For all involved be strong and May God Bless. RIP

Life is short, and every time I hear about this tragedy that become so very clear.
These people lost there lives doing what millions of us do each and every day enjoying the music, it is truly unbelivable that this could happen anywhere and the pathetic pointing of fingers is enough to make anyone sick, nobody wanted anyone to lose there life at this concert.
Concerts are about life not death and those pointing fingers should be truly ashamed of themselves.
Has for Great White my heart goes out to them all it is tragic that this band has been put through such an ordeal, the death of their fans.
I took a look back through the songs of Great White and have placed some of the lyrics here for everyone to read, I believe that these are words that have great meaning at this time and hope that music will help comfort those who have lost love ones in this terrible tragedy.

"The Angel Song"

Fly lonely angel high above these streets of fire
Fly lonely angel far away from mad desire...

"Sail Away"

Adrift out on an open sea A life raft seekin' company sailing on a sea insane rolling with the waves of pain...

"In the tradition"

I've noticed today I have one less friend to call and no one to tell me it's all right as my world starts to fall i'm doing the best that I can and I've had all the help I can stand I'm ready to crash, yes I am but i'll hide it the best that I can...

As a firefighter/paramedic and Great White fan I can easily see both sides of the issue concerning the use of pyro in a small club. The media isn't presenting a fair and clear picture of the situation at all. On one side is a veteran rock band that has probably used pyro many, many times without incident. On the other side you have club owners who have been operating a business and have had lots of bands pass through. Some use pyro and some don't. In the end, all any of us can do is learn from the mistakes made that night and let time move us forward. God Bless the fallen and the injured from that terrible night.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting all the guys from Great White when they played in Orlando. They were all exhausted
but nontheless stayed until every fan had a handshake, hug, autograph or picture. They were all amazing, Ty just struck me
as an amazingly happy person and wanted to be everyones friend. It is a terrible loss to the music community to lose not
only an amazing talent but a wonderful person. My prayers are with all of Tys family and friends as well as the familys of
all the other victims.

I have been praying and praying over this senseless tragedy since the 21st. No one deserves to die in such a horrendous manner while performing such a peaceful act as playing and attending a concert by a great band. I guess it is all part of Gods plan for us all, something we won't understand until we meet our Maker ourselves. To the members of Great White-you've had the horror of losing a very special, gifted member of your family, please do not guilt yourselves over the what if's and should have's of the situation. This is not your fault. You should all besticking together and not be guilting yourselves over this tragedy. I wish the best for you all, and you are all in my prayers. To Ty's family and friends and all the other victims families and friends-please believe that God will take care of your loved ones, He has brought them Home for His own reasons, as hard as that is to accept for those left here. They are in a better place, and are safe and loved for eternity. Having lost loved ones myself in tragedies such as this, I sympathize and empathize with what you are feeling. The lovely people that lost their lives at the Station are being prayed for and loved by so many that never knew them personally. My heart grieves for them and for you. Please, as hard as it is, be strong and remember them with love and gratitude for having known them. I will be praying for them for the rest of my life, and will never forget them. If anyone would like to write, please feel free to do so. You and your loved ones are loved at all times By thousands of us and by God.

Like everyone, I was stunned and glued to my TV for hours on end, just like space shuttle and 911 horrors. It's obvious to me that we need to do a great thing to prevent this from ever happening again anywhere else, like making doors 4x as wide and dedicating the new doors to the Warwick Victims, so they will not have died in vain. Worldwide, wherever there are a large gathering of people, the 'Warwick Doors' will be. These doors will save lives and then people will remember.

This is an event that i think touched a lot of people all over the country and probably even the world. Being a concert goer myself, its definately tough to hear about this and then head to a show myself. I pray for the victims and all of their family and friends. And i also pray that we don't look around for whome to place the blame on, but just to realize that it happened, and that we have to live on witha new awareness in our minds. It was a mistake, a great one at that, but a mistake none the less, and all we should do is give our support instead of pointing fingers. Much love to all of those who've helped out through all this. Peace, Love, and teddy grahams. l8r.

My God.
Words cannot express how hurt and lost I feel knowing that somthing like this happened to people from "my crowd".
I always treasure that feeling of "family" when I attend a rock event. Everyone there for the same reason in the name of rock n roll. A bonding with others that is hard to find in our everyday lives. So it really feels like part of my family has been lost. I will always remember my brothers and sisters lost on this tragic day - and I hope they have truly found a better place.
I know if there is a rock n roll heaven - that they are there, fists in the air.

My deepest sorrows and prayers go out to the families and friends of those lost in the tragedy. Hopefully, if any good can come from this, is that venues take a serious look at club safety. As a former bouncer, management and security need to be better trained to handle situations more than just simple bar fights. Instead of finger-pointing, they should be working together to prevent this from ever happening again.

I can't even put into words how deeply saddened I am by this tragedy. My fiancee' and I were watching the news on Thursday evening when they broke in with a news bulletin, announcing the fire. This is a sad time for all. I have seen GW several times through out there career. Being a musician and growing up with GW as my idol makes this hard to take. Because of GW and other bands I dream of touring and performing for anyone willing to listen. This has to be very tuff for the band to come to town as a hero and leave knowing you lost so many friends. I am very sad for everyone involved, we lost friends in the music loving family.

What makes it hard for me still to take is the media rage; I watched the event over and over on the news. Every time the media only stated someone needs to be blamed. I think everyone is still devastated from the fire. But the media continues to try to point the finger and play one party against the other. That will not take the pain away or place justice only misplace our feelings, accidents happen and as we have seen no one gained from this event, everyone lost.

I wish everyone involved best and to know you are in my prayers.

24/02/03: tim - timstar@btconnect.com
The day it all happened it started with "one person killed", then 5, 10, 50, 65, 86, and now its 97, I just couldn't believe it as the figure crept up and up. So many faceless people in the crowd and then it included Ty, who obviously is the same as all the others, A HUMAN BEING, but when you can put a face to this tragedy it just seems to hit home a bit harder. Many souls were lost in those few tragic minutes, all each as important as the other. I sat and cried at my computer (and they say big boys don't cry). I'm many miles away across the water in the UK but being a rock fan, a Great White fan, a gig fan, it just hits me hard. No one really seems to understand but when you are part of a "clan" a “club” which I think the rock fraternity is, you feel like you have lost a brother or sister, father or mother, lover or soulmate. Being a singer in a (small) band myself I know what some of these places are like to play (they are the same over here), but can we please not jump to conclusions and go about blaming everyone right, left and centre. We live in a world where everything that goes wrong must have someone to blame and some people will go out of their way to take financial advantage of that, that makes me very sick. I feel that the band are not to blame here, it was an accident, maybe there was some miscommunication, but still an accident. Like Bill Hicks said "what rock star wants his audience dead?” (sorry sometimes you have to laugh in the face of adversity). No one went out that night meaning for this to happen. Jack and co. will never ever forget this night, the night they lost a band mate, many fans and always remember fans are friends, whether you ever actually meet them or not. There were many lives effected that night, the lost ones, the families, even the helpers, paramedics and doctors, lets not destroy more peoples lives by starting a “witch hunt” and taking certain people for every penny they have, remember those concerned are in a state of shock too. ALL WILL BE MADE CLEAR IN TIME. This goes out to the lost and the grieving, the band, and everyone who is effected by this. tim.

Firstly, may I send heartfelt condolences and thoughts on behalf of 'DRESSED TO KILL' to the friends and families of Ty Longley and all our fellow rock fans who tragically lost their lives at 'The Station'. This is indeed a profoundly distressing time for all in our rock community.

I would, however, like to address the issue of pyrotechnic use from my personal point of view as a member of a band that uses them on a regular basis and have done so for 12 years.
We always include a contract clause regarding our use of pyro and encourage venues to invite a local fire officer to attend a demonstration. We provide venues & local authorites with 'risk assessments', have a certified pyrotechnician in the band, carry a fire extinguisher and take all possible measures to ensure that the opeartion area is as safe as possible at all times. The safety of the band, crew, audience and venue staff is the paramount concern at ALL times.

Pyro effects are available in different sizes and we tailor our display to the size of the venue concerned. From what I've seen of the TV footage from 'The Station', the pyro Great White was using appears to have been of standard 'small' size and with careful use should have been perfectly suitable and safe. Though we don't know what care was taken with their use by the crew I can only presume that they used them as per the recognised operating instructions.

HOWEVER, as much care and attention as we take with the effects, we as bands are somewhat at the mercy of the venues we play in. Small clubs and the like often have poor wiring, loose stage floorboards, exposed areas of poor insulation or sound proofing, a lack of ventilation etc. We cannot police the safety of clubs, check for sprinklers, test the paint to see if it's fire retardent, clear the air filters etc.....! We can but get venue permission for pyro use and encourage venue cooperation through education on it's safe use. I pray that out of this horrific event there can be the positive effect of forcing venues to adhere to a strong but fair fire safety policy. Professional indoor pyrotechnics ARE safe to use in the correct environment but the venues must not use flammable materials, have poor security or a lack of fire exits/sprinklers!! This needs to be a wake up call to venues, promoters and local authorities!

My band will continue using indoor pyro in as safe a manner as possible but this tragedy will be in my mind every time we set it up on the stage. Unfortunatley, accidents do happen, but they can often be avoided with common sense. This is one that sadly could have so easily been avoided....

Rest in peace friends.....

The Long Road By Pearl Jam

And I wished for so long cannot stay
All the precious moments cannot stay
It's not like wings have fallen cannot stay
But still something's missing I cannot say yea
Holding hands are daughters and sons
And their faiths are falling down down down down
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today

Will I walk the long road the long road
Cannot stay the long road
There's no need to say goodbye say goodbye
All the friends and family
All the memories going round round round
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today

And the wind keeps roarin'
And the sky keeps turning grey
And the sun is setting
The sun won't rise another day

I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today
Will I walk the long road
We all walk the long road
Will I walk the long road
We all walk the long road
Will I walk the long road
Will I walk the long road
We all walk the long road
Will I walk the long road

Words can not properly express the saddness that we are all going through. We are all brothers and sisters of Rock 'n' Roll, and our fallen brothers and sisters are going to be remembered every time we listen to the music we all love. We all want to have fun at rock concerts and forget about our problems. But it now looks like we'll have to think about our safety more than we did before though. I feel very heartbroken by the recent tragedy of the Warwick, Rhode Island fire. I saw the news broadcasts filled with sites of injured people, desparate parents of the missing, and the atrocity of seeing victims being hauled out in body bags. I cried! My band Medallion played a show last night and did a tribute to them. How could we not? My sincere sympathy and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victims. And, no matter who prefers to blame Great White for this, we all know that the band would NEVER have wanted something like this to happen, so I sympathize for them as well.

although the band made a dumb mistake and choice to do what they did a lawsuit is not neccessary as they will pay for the rest of thier lives for the choice and mistake they made. unfortunately people will want some payment in return and people to suffer more. its a shame people went to have fun only to be caught up in a tragic mistake. I pray for all the families, band mambers and all involved. but let it rest as it should. death is enough to pay and deal with the rest of your life.

What happened that Thursday night can not be explained in a news flash, a sound bite or a front page story. What happened was truly a tragedy, whether the amount of people who truly suffered was a lot or just a few. Everyone wants to point figures at who exactly was to blame just as long as the attention is off of them. This could've happened in any city, at any venue (big or small) and with any band. And this could've happened to you and me.
Let the memory of those who were lost shine on in your hearts. As everyone moves forward from this tragedy (but never over looking the pain or the loss) don't forget to tell one another what they mean to each of you. Enjoy the time you have. Tell people you miss them. Tell people you love them. Get in touch with a friend you haven't spoke to in a long time. What's the worst that could happen? Nothing is more expensive than regret. You and I both know that line is from a rock video.
I don't recall ever knowing anyone in Rhode Island, but those people who were injured and killed seem like people I've always known from the time I was 14 at my first concert. Friends who have a passion for their favorite band; for rock'n'roll; for music that lightens up their senses. Friends who yell and sing along to their favorite song. Friends who just want a band member to notice them, just for 1 second. Friends who take pictures at shows for their scrapbooks. Friends who still have every stub from every show they ever went to. Friends who travel to another (sometimes far away) city to see the same band, over and over. Friends who would get all nervous and toungue-tied if they ever met that particular rock'n'roller. I've been to concerts with these friends, I've waited on line (sometimes for hours) with these friends, I've traded war (band)stories with these friends, I've struggled for position all-the-way-in-the-front with these friends, and I've looked for something in common over a cold beer or 2, before the shows, during the shows, and after the shows, with the people I enjoy calling my friends.
Don't ever take any of it for granted. This was written with much love and respect in our heart for everyone who suffered.
Regards, Rob and Jen

My brother and I decided a few days before not to go to the show. My new daughter was born just last week (2 weeks early) and that was the deciding factor in not going to the show. I have a hard time thinking that it could have been me there. It is a hard pill to swallow. My thoughts are with everyone who is suffering this painful loss.

Though the voice is quiet, the spirit echoes still. From the Tree of Life, each leaf must fall -- The green, the gold, the great, the small… Each one in God's own time, He'll call -- With perfect love, He gathers all.

I attended the Great White show in Allentown, PA just seven days before the tragedy at the Station Club. As Jack Russell himself said during the show I attended, "People come to rock shows to forget their problems and everyday stresses of life. The just want to have a good time."

Obviously, there are no words I can say that will truly bring comfort to those who lost loved one. My deepest condolences and most sincere prayers are with all of the families negatively affected by this terrible event.

May God bless you all.

One of the saddest things I have ever seen and I extend my condolences to everybody affected by such a terrible tradegy. God willing it will be viewed as a horrific accident but being America I guess people will have to take the blame and be persecuted forever. God bless you Jack and everyone else who will now be hounded by the media and those seeking retribution. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I hope that one day you can put things behind you and move forward with love and peace in your hearts.

I was going to go to the concert in Allentown, but never made it. I was called by my dad Friday morning to tell me about a fire at a concert in RI, but he didn't catch the name of the band. Later that evening, while checking MelodicRock, I saw the news and was speechless. My prayers and thoughts go out to all those hurt and lost in the tragedy and their families. Let's not go pointing fingers so fast, let's help those who need our help first.

Peace, Love and Rock 'N Roll to All!

There are no words that could express the deep sorrow that I feel for all affected by this tragedy. I recently visited the club a few months ago to see a show and had a great time. There is no doubt in my mind that there are multiple parties responsible for negligence and that there will undoubtedly be some accountability. There is a distinct commoroderie between our genre of musics fans, and I am hopeful that we can all pull together and support the families and friends of those afflicted.

I was at home in Iowa about the same time this tragedy occured(Thursday night).I had a crappy day at work.so I put in a random home video of me and some friends on our way to enjoy life and hang out on a nice sandbar on the Des Moines river.and the song by Great White "Rolling Stoned" happened to be on the radio in the car in that video.it took me back to a day I remember as being so peaceful and safe. That song was just released around that time.old Friends talking about the "good old days".the hardships that life can deal us all.But upon my arrival to work Friday morning...I happened to turn on the A.M. radio in my old Dodge...and
It was right at the start of the top of the hour national ABC news update. You know the Nightline music they play.

What I had to envision was at first troubling. The news was not good.many people have been hurt, many lost.and as the day progressed...the numbers grew higher.

I have been to many small clubs in the Des Moines area.I have been to a gathering no different in scale. You hear about the show...you find some friends to go get some tickets...and you go have a good time.Rock-n-Roll baby....that's what it's all about right???

Fellow humans who just want to be surrounded by like-minded earthly folks.a small part of my heart has darkened.I have met many people at shows just like the one that ended in an unbelievable...no words...can explain.

I wish I was there to help...I am crying as I type this.I have so much love to give to the people who are suffering now.may you all find a way to find some kind of understanding in all this.I am so saddened and overwhelmed.Yet I was never there.you are not alone in your grief.

You tell me then that I must perish
Like the flowers that I cherish.
Nothing remaining of my name,
Nothing remembered of my fame?
But the gardens I planted still are young
The songs I sang will still be sung!

More than 10 years ago a man was killed at a Queensryche gig in Belgium and I was there. I know how sad it is when something bad happens during an event.
I am very sorry for the one's that lost their lives. What a shame that it happened during a Great White concert, a band that I love since their very first album.
I don't want to preach, but shouldn't this be a lesson for the future. Don't do anything foolish in a small club. Fireworks and other gimmicks are meant for big venues.
Most hardrock fans are very nice people and we all are there to keep our music alive. Keep on rockin! Dunya
