Another tribute album...but more importantly, another tribute album from producer Bob Kulick - he that was responsible for two of the best tribute album's to date - Aerosmith's and Van Halen's.
This is another top notch production with a similar crowd of guest artists to the last two tributes from the Kulick studios.
Mr. Crowley features a killer screaming vocal from Tim Owens and some shredding guitar from Yngwie Malmsteen.
Mark Slaughter does his best Ozzy vocal on Over The Mountain, also featuring Brad Gillis and gary Moon, Eric singer and Paul Taylor.
Desire is a major disappointment. Tell me when will people stop giving Lemmy the lead vocal duties on these tributes?!! He passes the grade on Motorhead records, but seriously...Richie Kotzen at least puts in a solid guitar performance.
Crazy Train is another disappointment for me. To me, Dee Snider is just above Lemmy in the vocal department. OK send your hate mail now...Doug Aldrich is on guitar.
Goodbye To Romance is certainly different. Lisa Loeb on vocals with Dweezil Zappa featured on some tasteful acoustic guitar. OK track..
Hellraiser sees Joe Lynn 'Tribute' Turner on vocals and a return to some heavy hitting rock n roll. Steve Lukather's on guitar and shredding big time with Paul Taylor, Billy Sherwood and Jay Schellen on drums.
Shot In The Dark sees another familiar name on vocals. Jeff Scott Soto does a fine job as always and the rest of the band sounds impressive - Ricky Phillips, Bruce Kulick, Pat Torpey & Derek Sherinian.
Children Of The Grave is basically the reformed line up of Racer X performing. Great rocker.
Motley Crue's Vince Neil does on OK job of Paranoid, joined by George Lynch, Gregg Bissonette and Stu Hamm.
Suicide Solution features Adam Paskowitz on vocals in the most Ozzy like performance of the album.
I Don't Know has one of the punchiest sounds of the whole album. Not surprisingly, Jack Blades does a killer job on vocals and does a great Ozzy, which did surprise me a little. He really sings his ass off! Reb Beach, Jeff Pilson, Bobby Blotzer and Paul Taylor round out the band.
BOTTOM LINE: Another solid tribute album, as always directed at the fans of Ozzy and the die hard fans of those contributing to the album.
Enjoyable, but a few tracks that, for me, missed the cut.
I would rank this tribute album behind the Aerosmith and Van Halen albums so far.
ESSENTIAL FOR: Die-hard Ozzy fans and collectors of the performers included on this record.
