This is not acceptable.
These guys have sold enough records over the years to be able to afford to record a decent album.
Surely they haven't sniffed the entire proceeds of their platinum selling albums up their noses?
Even with the lack of a label backing them, 1999 offer bands unparalleled choices in recording albums. Recording an album today is cheaper than ever.
Why then does this sound like it was recorded on a four track in a shed out the back?
Gilby Clarke needs to have a look at his operation and LA Guns should check for a refund policy.
But not only does the production really suck, the songs are terrible, the packaging is lame and worst of all you wouldn't even know Dizzy was on vocals unless you read it in the liner notes. His awesome sleeze drawling vocals from Love/Hate are just a distant memory here as the singing on Shrinking Violet fades into blandness.
I loved these guys, but after the recent legacy of indie solo releases and that last shitty EP - I officially give up on the band.
Just checkout the track I'll Be There. Some tracks have a little potential like the opening number, but the songs just get lost in the production and mix.
Call it quits guys, or fork out some money for a decent studio, producer and if there is any left over, hire Jack Blades as a songwriter too.
