In no order; Mutt Lange, Bob Rock, Ted Templeman, Roy Thomas Baker, Keith Forsey, Punch, Bill Ham, Prince, Bruce Fairbain, Beau Hill. Those are the top 10. Period. Forget George Martin. Talk amongst yourselves.

Producer's #1 job - getting the artist played on the radio.
Some great ones:
Mutt Lange (obviously); Ron Nevison (got Heart popular again after a lull, got Chicago popular again after Cetera left, has a great "sound"; Bruce Fairbairn (Aerosmith's comeback and, in my view, their best all-around album, "Pump"; George Martin (The Beatles and Cheap Trick's most underrated album, "All Shook Up"; Jimmy Miller (those great late '60s/early '70s Stones albums.

I have to agree with Pete Savin. George Martin, along with The Beatles, is responsible for so many innovative studio techniques, it's ridiculous! They broke every convention and were absolutely fearless in their experimentation. The music world owes them an unpayable debt! Eddie Kramer is another for his work with Hendrix. I'd also have to throw in the following:
Mutt Lange - Can't deny his talent.
Alan Parsons - Beatles, Floyd, AP Project (all groundbreaking stuff)
Jeff Lynne - Who did Paul, George and Ringo ask to produce "new" songs for The Anthology? There's no better endorsement than that! A true genius.
Ron Nevison - Just listen to the stuff he did with Zep or UFO. He brings an artist's true potential to the surface.
Jeff Glixman - Kansas producer. It can't be easy to produce a band with two singers, two guitars, two keyboards and violin! Not to mention the great Phil Ehart, who sounds like two drummers!
Jimmy Page - Can you say "Bonzo's Drum Sound"?
Roy Z. - He's not just a phenomenal guitarist!
Tommy Newton - Like a modern day Nevison, he seems to work with the really great artists.
Martin Birch, Tony Platt, Kit Woolven, Keith Olson, Bruce Fairbairn, Max Norman, Michael Wagener, Dieter Dierks, Beau Hill, Desmond Child, Peter Collins, Jack Douglas, Roy Thomas Baker - all of whom were at the helm for many a classic!

I was PLEASED to come across this site! I wrote down EVERY producer mentioned, looked them up & wrote who I could re: www.HarryBrett.NET. I was impressed with most listed & thrilled, Peter Collins & Michael Wagener live nearby! Impressive backgrounds & must compliment the reviewers on this forum! Mutt Lange, Ron Nevison, Roy Baker, Tom Werman, Patrick Meehan, Rodger Bain, Dieter Dierks, Tony Platt, Jason Bieler, Ric Browde, Jeff Glixman, Kevin Shirley, Neil Kernon, Bob Clearmountain, Duane Baron, Tom & Chris Lord Alge, Eddie Kramer, Bruce Fairbairn, Roger Glover, Martin Birch, David Prater, Ted Templeman, Tom Shulz, Daniel Lanois, Max Norman, Bob marlette, Chris Tsangarides, Doug Aldrich, Robin Black, James Guthrie, Carl Canedy, ...These people combined have worked with: Zeppelin, Hendrix, Ozzy, Juiest Priest, Metallica, Kansas, Boston, Queensryche, AC/DC, U2, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Dokken, Queen, Scorpoins, Nugent, Guns 'N Roses, Skid Row, Firehouse, Black Sabbath, Bad Company, Pink Floyd, Foreigner, Cinderella, Krokus, Malmsteen, Heart, Robin Trower, Whitesnake Def Leppard, RUSH, Dream Theater, Journey,...cream of the crop!
Harry - instrumental rock guitarist - has an 11 song, ORIGINAL CD, done in LESS than 2 days, almost every song in just 1 take, with NOT 1 rehearsal! The CD is NOT mastered, BUT ROCKS with melodies! The drummer was CHARLIE DANIEL'S drummer, Pat McDonald & LARRY CARLTON'S bass player, Chris Kent inbetween their touring. Harry auditioned Nationwide to fill their shoes & passport ready to get going SOON! Thumb's up from the band, FIREHOUSE - Bill Leverty, guitarist (Hello, David Prater!)& RICK DERRINGER. 6 FULL songs, "BBQ IT", "Come Soul Fly" & "First Flight" are favorites - "Wind Jammer" gets going after the intro. I can only imagine him with more time in the studio, with the best studio compressor, time with his band members (where he is right now, as I write this!) & A PRODUCER...hopefully 1 of these guys!!!!!
Harry's direct email is: harrybrett@comcast.net
*Thanks to ALL who posted below my review.
