If you get the chance to see them live once normality returns, do so! Their current guitarist, Gareth Moulton, is superb and they put on a great show! They have an album coming out with old songs recorded with an orchestra. Normally this turns me right off, but what I've heard so far is bloody good! Here's I Just Died In Your Arms from the new album... I Just Died In Your Arms (New Version)

Yeah, that is a good one as well. I just didn't connect with the rest of the album. I thought it was very ordinary compared to other similar acts like Saraya's debut, Witness, Darby Mills, etc. I appreciate that my opinion might not be shared by others, as a lot of albums from that era that get raved about, I just find dull.

I'm not sure whether or not this is a legit request for this board, so apologies if it isn't and in which case please ignore me. I'm creating a 'my favourite female-fronted AOR/melodic Rock songs' playlist on iTunes and the one tune I'm missing is Waiting for the Big One by Femme Fatale. I had the album, but in all honesty thought it was crap apart from that one song, so I shifted it on prior

I'm sure you are, but equally I'm sure that ain't easy! I'm just imagining myself trying to review a prog-metal album without prejudice (I hate prog metal) as I wouldn't know a good one from a weak one! Good luck! :-)

It's not simply 'crap' though. Obviously if you dislike modern country, (esp pop-country) you'd not wanna listen to it and you'd absolutely want to 'bin it.' Many of the magazine's readers may be of very similar view, but some may well like a bit of country-esque stuff to vary their diet. It's a pretty decent example of a British modern country-influenced pop album...

Why did they give it to you if it's known that you dislike country-influenced music? Seems a bit odd to me, as if that kinda thing ain't your bag, how can you give it a proper review - you'll have little to compare it to to know if it's a good example of the genre or not for starters. I'm really surprised Fireworks are even reviewing it as I'd label it 'country influenced modern pop' (and I ado

The 2010 show was superb, but the guitars were pretty much all re-recorded in the production process. If you look at the DVD, the audio solos don't match the ones you're seeing. Look, I love Tommy D's playing usually. He's an excellent player, despite the fact that there was obviously a mass falling out with the MR community a few years back. That doesn't alter the fact that he can play guitar

Watched this on YouTube tonight after getting a link on Facebook. This was the second of Jimi's two Firefest shows. Watching this back, there are more than a few slightly dodgy vocal moments, which given the key of some of these tracks and the vocal range required to sing them is hardly surprising, but my goodness, what a show it was regardless of that (and I don't remember noticing them 'in

Oh dear! For the record, the church I attend here in UK is currently putting a lot of time and money into providing food for the poverty-stricken and facilitating online fellowship so that the lonely and frightened have something to give them comfort through the current crisis. The focus is squarely on being there for the people. In other words doing what the church should be doing... So the v

They did one on the Bad Animals tour that I remember being mightily impressed with at the time when Ann matched Howard Leese's guitar licks note for note no matter how far up the fretboard he went... But I was young and impressionable back then, so it's possibly a 'rose-tinted specs' view I'm sharing here...

Heart had some great songs back in the 70s - Crazy on You is a cracker, as is Barracuda - but it was inconsistent and by 1982, they'd lost the plot. Their mid-80s stuff is consistently very good if you like glossy, formularised pop-rock/AOR/Hard-rock-lite - which of course I do!! I actually really like Passionworks as an album too - I know most think it's dire but I like it... I think Anne and

I went to Tesco for the weekly shop at 3:00pm yesterday afternoon (I should have been enjoying the C2C country music festival festival, but that had been postponed at 24hrs notice on Thursday afternoon so I was at a loose end and figured it better to go then than on Saturday) and there was no paperware of any kind bar 5 packs of kitchen roll, there was hardly any tinned soup (bar the really expen

R.I.P. Keith. Legendary talent. I always loved his production. Where people like Ron Nevison sucked the bottom end out, he always seemed to have a more rounded sound to his recordings and I personally thought that the guitar sounds in particular were always bang on. Sometimes I think we forget just how important people like Keith Olsen were to the sound and feel of our beloved genre...

I thought it was a good record. Not really Giant, but a good record of its time nonetheless. Put it up next to Revolution Saints or a lot of the stuff raved about on this board over the past few years and it more than holds its head up in my opinion...

Songs are great - very well-written but I'm struggling with the production on many of the tracks. Liked his first 3 albums very much and saw him twice on the Repeat Offender tour back in the day. He was superb live back then...

Rush don't make bad albums, but they make plenty of albums that I don't enjoy! I only own two - Power Windows and Hold Your Fire. There are tracks on Permanent Waves, Signals, Farewell to Kings and 2112 that I really like but overall, they are a bit too proggy for me - I can't listen to very much prog rock... Talented beyond belief though and I can appreciate that their music is high quality even
