There were rumors at the time that John Norum might join them. I think that would have been a good match. I like Vinnie as an instrumental player, but I don't think he's really added his own flair to the band like Schenker and Chapman did. The albums he's done aren't bad by any stretch, but there just aren't many memorable tunes for me. I could probably take the best tracks and make two good

Covenant had it's moments, but after that I agree. Sharks was ok, but has nothing memorable, and the Vinnie Moore albums are pretty boring. I thought he was the wrong choice for the band.

Couldn't get into High Stakes at all. Borderline was a good tune, but overall the songwriting was uninspired.

Knee Deep in the Hoopla was the definition of 80's cheese. I always had a soft spot for We Built This City though.

That's one of the things that made those early albums so great, short and to the point. All killer, no filler (most of the time).

I remember seeing the video for Women on MTV and thinking "where the fuck are the guitars" lol. The album has grown on me some over the years, but I tend to like the non-hit tracks like Gods of War, Run Riot and Don't Shoot Shotgun over shit like Pour Some Sugar on Me.

I didn't care for 7 Wishes at first, but it's grown on me over the years to the point where it's my 3rd favorite after DP and MM. I think the choice of singles are what put me off in the beginning.

I was never a big fan of the albums with Sammy (except 5150), but I could tolerate OU812 and F.U.C.K. because they each had a handful of good songs, but nothing on Balance really stuck with me.

It was kind of a lazy album for him (6 new songs, 2 instrumentals, an acoustic version of Fred Bear and Cat Scratch Fever re-written with new lyrics) but it's a fun record to listen to, and I like the hunting/nature theme that runs throughout it.

That's an excellent description RN. Worst album from the Roth years, but I would still take it over VH3 and Balance. As for Cherone, I really thought they were going to come up with something much better than what they did. Extreme were great on the first few albums and had somewhat of a Van Halen vibe to them. It should have been a match made in heaven.

Van Halen-Diver Down...complete garbage after the first four Van Halen albums. Bon Jovi-SWW...loved the almost heavy metal feel of 7800, then came the highly commercial, hit-chasing SWW. Not a bad album, but not exactly what I was hoping to hear from them. Def Leppard-Hysteria...same as BJ, a great hard rock/metal album followed by a highly commercial, corporate album aimed at generating hi

Not for me. I hear very little "metal" in this. It's really just heavier hard rock.

Agree 100% Peter. I fail to understand why so many people feel they are owed something by a band just because they are fan. These guys had a great career and a lot of their music has stood the test of time. It's good that they haven't gone the same route as bands like KISS and Foreigner with endless greatest hits/live/acoustic/re-recordings packages, and multiple "farewell" tours.

I like the digipacks better than jewel cases. Never had any problems with them except a couple of times when the spindles that hold the cd in were broken. Sucks when that happens, but it's very rare. They last just fine if you take care of them. Can't stand those stupid plastic cases. They're cracked or broken about 50% of the time when I order through the mail. Sure they can be replaced, but
