Marty, in the instances of taped keyboards you have to have your drummer play to a click, so his playing is synched with the tracks. And everyone has to follow him closely. Many drummers can't or won't do it, so a live keyboard player is brought along. Yayy me. LOL It's a specialized skill set, and honestly some drummers get offended at being asked to do play to a click. In Journey, Dean Castrov

Journey has been doing it for years, even with the extra keyboard player on stage. These days it's more rare to find an act that "doesn't" do it.

I can run off a very long list for you someday...it's regrettable, but an economic reality I guess. I like to joke that it is the revenge that drummers get on us keyboardists for replacing them with drum machines during the 80's. :(

Hey man, thanks for sharing! We still play a lot of Playa Del Rock in our live sets, as you can tell in this new EPK. I hadn't heard the album before I joined the band-and man it rocks! It's too bad that shows like Headbangers Ball would only play those music videos after midnight, Eh? Lol So we're bringing back some great music that folks might've missed out on the first time around, and wor

Ironically, London has never played the UK. Europe has been an untapped market. We'd love to change that in 2017. Working on a new record with the band London for 2017, and booking some cool events! This is such a great group of guys, BIG rock and no drama. This new EPK is a great introduction to the band that at various times has featured members of GnR, WASP, Cinderella and of course, Nikki Sixx. Any fans from back in the day? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGSEETrE27I

“Asia is honored to be asked to share the stage with Journey,” enthused Asia frontman John Wetton in a press release. Referencing his own cancer battle, which he’s been waging during Asia’s downtime following the tour in support of their 2014 Gravitas LP, he added, “On a personal note, this couldn’t have come at a better time for me; I remain determined and my road to a full recovery

When I was coming up, I heard several stories from local Jersey bands who tried to get tapes to Bon Jovi in hopes of getting a record deal. Legend has it that they would play the tapes on the bus, and the band would look for ideas to poach. Quite a few bands still claim that they would have been huge if JBJ hadn't stolen their ideas. So, who knows?

I saw them for the first time two weeks ago. I didn't realize David Pack wasn't with the band anymore, but they were totally amazing. A LOT of the set was culled from their prog material - still featuring lots of melody and harmony, but it was a bit long for me. The hits were AMAZING, and the new songs were also quite good (less prog/more adult contemporary. Great show!

I remember this song. Pete Newdeck had me demo some keys on it for Steve Grimmett at one point. I LOVE the original version, I thought Steve sounded amazing on the demo and wish it would've seen the light of day. Ironically, I had also played keys on the "first" First Signal record, which I really loved. It's always nice to hear a different approach.

Keith was a really cool guy. He was the first rock star I ever met at a NAMM show, and was always very good to me. An integral part of our Hammond family, which is really tight. And did I mention he was a legendary keyboard player that inspired scores of kids to try new things with synthesizers? A sad loss for us all.

Considering that Mark was probably caught unawares by a TMZ microphone, I'm sure there wasn't a lot of thought put into his quote. But it's not like this was the first time he got on stage with "Jack's solo band" or whatever he wants to call it. To be fair, Mark didn't book the tour, choose that firetrap of a club or purchase that stupid sparkler. But this wasn't the first gig where t

I can't possibly say enough great things about Kevin Gilbert. His studio was very close to my house. I struck up a loose friendship with him at the tail end of the Toy Matinee promotion, and he was a very cool dude.
