Shade just a question. Do Sabaton draw more than Nightwish in Europe ? It's a genuine question because I thought Nightwish were a far bigger draw. I stand to be corrected mate.

Terry I love your enthusiasm for our music and your contributions to this board. It's just that you post so often and sometimes come across as authoritative on whatever you post. So when I learned you hadn't actually listened to the full album, I'll be honest it got my back up. Now if your name is Paul Jerome Smith, then that's another matter. In fact he gets to know albums so well that he can na

Mmmmm just thought that to give a measured opinion of an album you really had to listen to it in full first. I honestly thought given the amount of debate and opinion you had on XIV, that you had actually heard it in full. Oh and yes you can certainly get a feel for a cd from sound bites and samples so please don't be so condacending. You are certainly entitled to an opinion on whatever you h

You have got to be joking Terry !!!! With the amount of posts you have made on here about XIV, I was sure you had secured a copy and listened to it on numerous occasions. Wow !!!!!

WTF !!!! What is it with you and the "horrible production" The production on this cd is exceptional and sounds huge and the majority of people who have listened to it feel the same. In the words of John McEnroe ..... You cannot be serious !!!!!

Wow Tim that's a cool post. I have to say I have not heard all of the RS cd, so it would be wrong of me to comment. Your description of the new Toto however is spot on and it's what sets them apart from every other band on the planet. Their style cannot be tied down to anything in particular and repeated listens continue to throw new highlights at you. Throughout their career and probably upto an

Couple of comments. Yes I know it had been mentioned before but there wasn't really much discussion. I think that's whats great about their music, so much variety, with everyone having their favourites. Don't agree with you Joe. Oceanborn your favourite ? Wow. The band were finding their feet back then and have certainly made much stronger albums since. There is also tons of bombast on this ne

Not much comment so far on this much anticipated release. I've lived with it for a week now and initially found it hard to fully appreciate it as there is so much going on throughout a very long cd. I am now firmly of the opinion that it is the best album they have made and it blasts Imaginaerum firmly into touch. It combines all that is good about the band , particularly the best bits from Da

Totally disagree but it's only my opinion. What comes out loud and clear guys, particularly you Terry, is that you just do not rate Joseph Williams. I think his voice on the new album and on the live DVD, is exceptional. Re Bobby Kimball, to use one of my earlier terms, he was a part of the sum of all the parts. I always preferred it when Paich and Lukather took over lead vocals. Not saying BK wa

Fahrenheit is a pop album ???? Unbelievable comment. It's not their rockiest release but it is full of total AOR bliss with some absolutely outstanding songs. Do you honestly think "We can make it tonight" and "Can't stand it any longer" are pop songs ? Behave yourself. I loved this album when it was released and think it still sounds fresh today.

Nope I would not but there are very very few I would give 100 to. My fave Toto releases are the first cd and The Seventh One which I would rate as 96. XIV I would give 90.

That's the thing, apart from the obvious multi selling singles, Toto albums were always about the sum of all the parts. For the record, Mindfields is my least favourite Toto album apart from the covers release and I feel XIV really does stamp all over it.

Yes Terry for me their classic stuff needed to grow. I always liked the older releases initially but only grew to love them after several plays and that is exactly what has happened with XIV. It takes time for the intricacies to register much like earlier material. My god I am loving the closing song, Great Expectations for that very reason.

Good but too varied ? Wow !!! That's what sets Toto apart from bands like dare I say it WOA, their variety. They have been like this since their first release way back and sorry I think there is plenty of energy on XIV. As I said earlier I've been a huge fan since the first album and this new release is up there with best of them. Looking forward to hearing some of the new songs live when I see

Terry you really should listen to the full album before chipping in. Burn is a stunning song and it's position on the cd is just perfect. Along with the last song, Great Expectations, they are the most progressive songs on the album and given your love for the new Neal Morse release, I feel you should love this song. Oh and by the way, I have purchased and listened to the new Neal Morse cd in

Agree Ralfster and David you should check out their most underrated album Turn Back from 1981. Critics at the time felt it was too "heavy".

I am so looking forward to this one and thanks to your post Dave I am convinced I will love it. I enjoyed Imaginaerum but much preferred their two previous releases. Also good to hear that Floor is more restrained as I really don't think she needs to scream and growl to demonstrate how good she is. I will wait till it's official release date as I think I am going to be very busy listening to

Much discussion recently about live albums but if you are a fan of the band or hard edged melodic rock then this release will be a welcome addition to your collection. Some live albums are great to have but are played once then just gather dust in your collection. This one will be getting repeat plays. It is a superb double cd and really captures the band in top form, so well done to the guys.

Jeez !!! Youngsters !!! Listen to the cd or vinyl copy when it is released on a decent sound system then give us your informed opinions. That's what I've always done and will continue to do. So to the original poster come back on here after you have given it a decent listen from a physical copy. If you still don't like the mix, then hey you are entitled to your opinion but give the album the cha

G3 sorry dude you are missing the point. Mr Martin is criticising another popular band in the same genre. A bit like the time on here when a certain Mr Denander had a pop at Work of Art. It's just wrong and will always sound like sour grapes.

Fair comment Mark but in response I think H.E.A.T are a far superior band both in the studio and live. Vega leave me cold. Before anyone accuses me of being a fanboy I actually think the new Eclipse cd is better than anything either band have recorded. As I said earlier concentrate on your own band.
