I know there are always two sides to every story. In saying that Andy Powell has been the constant factor in Wishbone and having seen both bands over the years his is by far the best.

Fair comment Figge. I wasn't overly impressed either and to be honest Biffy Clyro are not my cup of tea.

I know I've posted before about this band but I saw them again last night at The Ferry in Glasgow and they were sensational, probably best I have seen them since their heyday. They played the whole of Live Dates which was released in 1973 and were on stage for two and a half hours. The twin lead guitar playing was stunning but yet again I've got to pay homage to Andy Powell, one of the best guita

There was some very poor guitar playing during that performance. Oh and Figge Simon Neil is no clown, that was a ridiculous statement. I thought he was out of place however but was asked to participate given that he is a local lad and Biffy Clyro are very popular in Scotland.

Not sure about this mate it's certainly a hard listen and will need repeated listens. I wouldn't call myself an out and out prog fan though as I really struggle with self indulgence and meandering arrangements. I'll certainly give it another listen though. Thanks for posting.

Wonderful band. I never get sick of Echoes from the Meddle album and have enjoyed everything since them with the exception of The Final Cut. Wish You Were Here would be in my all time top 20 albums. The last official DVD release, Pulse is exceptional and although without RW it is a magnificent concert.

I meant to ask you Paul, if you went to see Anathema on their UK tour. I saw them in Glasgow and thought they were awesome.

Thing about this one Paul is that it seems to please all different tastes. The acting, direction and story lines just suck you in and if you only watch one series this year, make it this one.

I was a wee bit late to come to the party with this and have just finished watching the 5 seasons on DVD. I just had to post that this is the best television series I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Absolutely compelling from start to finish and a stunning piece of work. Anyone else blown away by this ?

I love this band but surely this is major overkill. Not on my Xmas list that's for sure.

I've got to say I really can't see the appeal of this band. I saw them live supporting FM and was totally unimpressed. I also purchased their previous CDs and again just cannot understand the praise heaped on them on this board. I will not be buying this new release. Again that's the beauty of music, everyone has different tastes and if you are into this band, brilliant.

Damn I just love this band. Certainly not heavy rock and may be a little lightweight for some people but they write some fantastic tunes. Not a filler in sight and very much continuing where they left off with California 37. Every song is memorable and in summary makes for an outstanding cd. Quality !!!!

Dave this is utterly feckin magnificent and in my opinion blows everything released this year completely out of the water. I sometimes feel our genre is becoming tired and predictable and it takes something like this to rekindle my enthusiasm. I would say that it's not for the pink and fluffy brigade and maybe doesn't have enough " Hooks" for some of us but I just love this cd. On top o

Just back from the small but sold out ABC2 in Glasgow. Anathema were absolutely stunning and they received a wonderful reception from the Glasgow crowd. Why this band are not bigger is a mystery to me. I love their cd,s but live the band have so much energy and the songs take on a new life. If you get the chance to see them on their tour make sure you take it. Magnificent !!!!

Showing my age here but I agree with Van Halen blowing Black Sabbath off the stage at Glasgow Apollo in 1978. Even earlier than that back in 1973 at the same venue, Queen completely outclassed main act Mott the Hoople. I wonder what ever happened to Queen after that. LOL !!!

In response to the last 3 posts, your points sum it up for me. It is very subjective but that's the beauty of music. One mans poison etc. I've noticed some of other posters contenders and although frankly surprised by some of them, it's their opinion. As I said Survivor have never been my favourite band but I just feel that every song on this album is an AOR classic and there are very few albums

I'm still really sad after last week tragic news and probably like many on here I revisited my Survivor albums throughout the last few days. Do you know something, we are all looking for the next best thing, that new sound that you can turn your mates onto and sometimes we take for granted the greats of the past. Now although I love Survivor, they were never in my top 5 bands but I am willing to

In response to Allied Forces and Oz, which list would you put Toto on ? I take it that you don't like the band but whether you agree or not, most people would class Toto as an AOR band. My list in order of preference. Toto Styx Foreigner Survivor Journey Kansas Boston Night Ranger Triumph Reo Speedwagon

Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Wishbone Ash, Toto, Foreigner, AC/DC, Styx and Nightwish. In fact I probably listen to these bands more often than more recent outfits.
