Forgive me if they've already been discussed here, but I like this song. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7ea0w152ns Not the greatest live lead vocal ever, but as with most country rock bands, niceharmonies. Is the album any good?

From guitarplayer.com Interesting http://www.guitarplayer.com/artists/1013/guns-n-roses-welcome-to-the-jungle-isolated-tracks-izzy--slash/47993 EVH has his guitar panned hard to one side on most VH albums, so possibly less unfamiliar stuff audible on this one http://www.guitarplayer.com/artists/1013/awesome-isolated-eddie-van-halen-guitar-track-for-panama/31078

Didn't think about it at the time, but seeing this, didn't he take most of his moves from Robert Plant! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eExhhN7dxEM Here too, on the Tube, with the Cage lineup ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6pmOsDojYU Finally my fav, again on live TV, this time Channel 4's ECT. He's Jon Deville, a successful actor now; http://www.castingcallpro.com/uk/view.php?uid=524280 Great to see how well he has done, following his stint in Tygers of Pan Tang in the ’80s. Love 'The Cage'

I'm not so sure - have a listen to California Jam or Made In Europe! Just amazing that it's 40 years this year since he first sang Burn. There's barely anyone else, from a band of that magnitude, who has still got the voice they had then. Daltrey perhaps?

Absolutely. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but staggers me how he still hits the notes that he did back in the 70's. As some one in the comments section if the video said, he could handle early Rush material!

From the celebration of Jon Lord show at The Royal Albert Hall, London in April. You may get travel sickness from the footage, but they do sound good! http://youtu.be/Kg2XkiXp2X4

Kotzen is incredibly unusual. There are very, very few musicians in our genre with his ability on guitar, coupled with such a strong voice. Especially live. Plenty of others with one, and a bit of the other, but so few that do what he does. Dave Meniketti is another who is a strong vocalist and great lead player, but I think you're struggling after that to find anyone else at such a high

Wasn't great. But to elaborate, there were snippets of Tesla, Twisted Sister, Rival Sons, The Wildhearts and The Answer, amongst the usual fare. One to Sky+ and zap through.

Really enjoyable thread, with mutual appreciation for great music that in, many cases, passes the general public by.

Absolutely. Why would a young, energetic band with catchy songs like H.E.A.T not win over some news fans at Glastonbury ? Same goes for the likes of Heavens Basement. Can't see it would kill them to give a bit of space to a rock band or two next year, alongside the ceaseless wad of indie popsters etc.

Agree with you. I am a huge Cov fan, but not of his metal screaming. His voice isn't up to that. Really time for him to work in a lower register, and get back to the bluesier style that he came from.

I think you're spot on. I raised this on the board last year. Of course I appreciate it's not a metal festival, but to have pretty much ignored the genre, across all stages of the festival, is just nonsense. Particularly poor when the BBC decides to give over hours and hours of coverage to the event, across all platforms. The tide has perhaps been turning though - Springsteen headlining two y

Yes, lovely to see those BBC presenters having to pretend they've always been rock fans. The penny may have dropped to that brigade that the likes of Kasabian, Elbow etc can't hold a candle to of the likes of Metallica and Maiden when it comes to totally owning huge crowds.

About time too. Fantastic to see a metal band headline. There's been nothing like that there since 1970.

Agreed, great player. It's Malcolm's nephew, Stevies who'll be involved in his place. Hopefully Malcolm is on the mend though.

Hey Bob, I am on hols with my mob in Florida in October too. Don't know when you're there, but we will be catching Night Ranger at Disney Epcot (how the mighty fall eh! Very Tap-esque.). Saw Survivor there a couple of years back. Here's this years schedule. Almost an AOR fest! Sept. 30-Oct. 2 – Air Supply Oct. 3-5 – STARSHIP starring Mickey Thomas Oct. 6-8 – Sugar Ray Oct. 9-10

Wildlife released two albums. This, the s/t second is the best. The band featured Steve and his brother Chris, both who both went on to form FM. Simon Kirke from Bad Co was in the line up for this release, which was why it was on Swansong. Here's the opening track - my first encounter with that brilliant voice ; http://youtu.be/Xic7WQ3VEcw

Been a long term issue, the licensing of that album, hence no proper reissue as yet You're quite right about Stiv's singing throughout too. A really good set of songs on that album.
