Its an awful album & concept, maybe one redeemable track If you want to hear a good country/rock female vocal cross over, have a look at Bon Jovi / Sugarland playing "Who Says You can't Go Home" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFI0lxsjTjo

In most cases with melodic rock, the singer's voice makes or breaks a song - and band - for me. I can't listen to the vocals of bands like Ratt & Crue and many from the 80s, the Swedish thing often leaves me cold too. Saying that, Guns & Roses big songs were so much better than Axl's voice deserved. I also prefer cover versions of Beatles & Stones songs over the originals if the si

Hey Warrior, keep OD out of my shopping jokes !! On the subject of OD, it is said that men only change their hair styles 3 times in a lifetime. By that theory, One Direction should die tomorrow

I still think Domino Effect is as good as Lip Service, but Need To Believe dropped a long way below that standard. I have a couple of tracks from each of the post-Steve albums on iPod playlists but can't listen to either album in its entirety.

The Romeo's Daughter gig at Derby Guildhall last year is due out as a live DVD on 10th November - superb gig, very very good live sound too.

Really enjoying the Mike Ryan album - not really a country/AOR cross-over, some country songs, but his AOR is AOR and bloody good - in a Cutting Crew and Van Stephenson vein

It was Grand Prix's album I bought after they supported Iron Maiden on the Piece of Mind tour, not Maiden's for another 3-4 months. Agree with Foreigner on the Journey bill, Styx were awesome too. Def Lep stunk after an hour of Whitesnake a few years back too.

I'm so glad my parents didn't have such dumb ideas. My Dad was a Jellyroll Morton fan and Mom liked Pat Boone. Not sure which sounds worse Jellyroll-Boone or Boone-Jellyroll A former member of the Staffordshire Regiment band changed his own surname from Trumper (not good) to Beethoven (hardly better)

iPod and iTunes all the way for me, haven't handled a CD for 4 years iPod in the car, who cares if the bite rate/size thingy is different when there's road noise, etc. Sounds damn good to me and the i-Tunes (people who bought this album also bought) recommendations probably account for 80% of my purchases. Excellent service and system. Cheaper to buy songs via iTunes and the band gets more

Awful news. Even my dad said he had a really good voice - and he hated pop & rock music !! I grew up listening to his voice some very good songs even higher, Survivor were on US music show Solid Gold almost weekly back in 1984-86 when I watched it in Hong Kong. We were really looking forward to seeing him with Survivor in Notts this October too. Sing it loud Jimi, RIP

Sounds like someone beat Jack to starting the thread !! We once integrated Whitesnake's "Give Me All Your Love Tonight" into an acoustic version of "Love Shy". You can see faces in the crowd thinking "I know that, but the setting is slowing my thought patterns.

The Calling had some really good songs but Alex Song is another of those singers who falls off too many note endings, does my head in Matchbox Twenty, Sister Hazel, Dishwalla/JR Richards are some of my faves and I also like some of the religious alternatives too like Natalie Grant & Francesca Battistelli
