I'm currently staying in Manhattan (til Tuesday) and was wondering if there's any cool cd shops left that you guys could recommend. No specialized stores really but rather the kind of shop like Amoeba in San Francisco which has a huge selection of bargain bin stuff. Cheers, Ralfster

Wow, seems like a definite must buy to me! Wasn't Play to win on the Fast Forward album as well? By the way, are these your average demos sound wise or fully produced tracks?

Strange! Maybe the original poster removed it when he realised he posted a hoax. Anyway, I assume he's alive and well then (apart from that terrible Parkinson disease).

I'm sure I read a Pat Torpey related posting one or two days back. Can't find it anymore though... I really hope it was a bad hoax and Andrew removed it therefore!!

Tim, Pretty sure this is the song you're looking for: http://youtu.be/0e08TWflUAo Stylewise LIVING IN A BOX were very similar to GO WEST. And it's not just Richard Darbyshire's vocals! Pretty cool video too and even features a great guitar solo. BRIAN MAY is listed as guest guitarist in the credit notes but not sure if he's actually playing the solo... Ralf

Agreed, "Truth In A Structured Form" is an awesome piece of AOR injected Southern Rock - absolutely on par with any late 80's 38 SPECIAL album if ya ask me. There's not one weak track on there but here's three of my faves: http://youtu.be/u0WYZknv-fY http://youtu.be/s97EMiKxtm4 http://youtu.be/Jr1WBnb5e3Q

HOME OF THE BRAVE!!!! Killer tune and probably my fave of theirs. When I last saw them back in 2010 with J.W. this was the closing track of their set list... and boy did they nail it!!

Maybe just coincidence but the spotlights could be a reference to their 2008 Live CD "Rockin'Shibuya 2007" while it could be argued the red lights (lower right) stand for "Live In Japan" (1990) :-) Would be interesting to hear what the guy who did the artwork (someone in the band?) says...

Thanks Andrew! Unfortunately it seems there's just the D/L version available on his site Www.bjarnelanghoff.com I thought there was an extra site for the CD maybe as the news items says "CDs can be purchased from www.langhoff.us". Strange, that nobody else seems to be interested... no comments whatsoever.

Have been looking forward to finally hearing his CD for quite some time now. And I have to say I'm really impressed. Great mix of vintage Westcoast and Pop Rock all wrapped up in a fresh production. Even reminds me of Mr Mister a bit. Unfortunately the purchase link for the physical CD doesn't work. Typo? Andrew, could you please check this? Cheers Ralfster

I'm also sure pretty I've heard that voice before but can't pinpoint it. Judging by the accent I would bet my left arm (well even my right) that it's a Swedish guy. Song has a bit of a Tommy Denander production vibe... and I mean that in a very positive way :-)) Great AOR!

Great stuff indeed! Could it be this is only available as download or is there there a physical CD available elsewhere to buy?

Hi guys, Need your recommendations on CD shops in London. I'll be there for a short business trip over the weekend. Especially would like to know if there's still any shops around specializing in AOR / Melodic Rock. Also 2nd hand shops with a good selection are of interest of course. Cheers Ralfster

These have always struck me. Can't be coincidence. Just not sure who ripped off whom as both were released in 1990... Both cool CDs in their own right, although I personally prefer the NUMBER NINE. What a shame they went the cover band route later on!

Thanks Granicus, I'm actually staying at a hotel in Notting Hill so that Record & Tape Exchange shop will be definitely on my list :-) I'm also pretty sure you left some stuff for me as I'm not solely interested in rock but also Pop, Prog, Westcoast...you name it. Is it at Notting Hill Gate? If so I just drove by one hour ago. It had a yellow sign but was seeling books and other stuff as well

Hi guys, I'm off to London for a business trip tomorrow morning and if time allows in between appointments I'd like to look around for CDs. I'm sure you guys on here could recommend some cool (2nd hand) CD shops in the greater London area. Preferably those with a real good assortment. I read somewhere recently that it might even be worth stepping into HMV as they have a good bargain bin se

Scott, which version of "Freedom Rock" does sound "a little better"? I'm assuming it isn't the European version, right? I know that the Asian version does have two bonus track but heard that the European version sounds better? Is there yet another version available? Cheers Ralf

No, you're perfectly right! Guess they were a French band (with English names printed on the cover though). Mixed by Armand Volker (FREIHEIT producer) in Munich back in 1986. I wonder if more as of yet unreleased songs were produced back then... I mean, this sounds really good! Maybe one of the specialist Re-issue labels would like to investigate futher. Cheers Ralfster

I'm pretty sure that's not their real names printed on the cover. Most probably it's a French band you thought their full blown AOR image would only be complete with English names... Just a guess of course. The only name I'm familiar with is mixing engineer Armand Volker, a german producer who did all the popular (M√úNCHNER) FREIHEIT albums in the 80's. Producer J.M. Hauser must be Jean-Mar
