Fantastic weekend up in Glasgow (my fave British city), great time meeting up with lots of people who I first knew through this site and some through Firefest. Thought the comment about FM having to finish as they hit their stride was bang on but the audience hadn't really woken up. I absolutely loved Europe - only seen them once before on the Start From The Dark tour and I wasn't into that a

I think James did a little too much "we are going to play as many songs as possible" and not enough working the audience but he was prob trying not to steal Robin's thunder as headliner. Still really enjoyed the set though!

I've got a 20th anniversary edition of this album out on Gypsy Rock Records in 2004, and it has three bonus tracks (two live and one recorded specifically for this release by the original members). Line up is listed as: L A Greene (lead vocals, guitar); Mick Fortune (drums); Bobby Birch (bass, vocals, sax); Roger Scott Craig (keys, vocals); Richard Fortune (guitars, vocals). As has been s

Sorry it was in no way a criticism of the crew and the speed of admission. That bit was poorly worded on my part. "We saw a huge queue right up the street and went back to the pub for another while it died down" would have been more accurate! No offence intended :-)

I will try and do Sat and Sun over the weekend. FRIDAY The Magnificent Because of queuing issues (and it was fab there was such a huge queue) I only got in there for the last three songs. They sounded excellent and the place was ridiculously packed. Holding Onto Your Love was an amazing ending. Eden's Curse Let's get the downside out of the way. The sound wasn't perfect for them, p

I feel exhausted even thinking about that performance. I've seldom seen such energy on stage anywhere never mind just at Firefest. There were several better bands for me over the weekend in terms of songs, entertainment and musicianship but in terms of sheer energy, drive and hunger, H.E.A.T. had no equal. It was the first time I'd seen them having contrived to miss previous FFs when they played

Shrewsbury is where I live, Telford is where I work! Telford's honestly not as bad as its reputation but Shrews is definitely the better place to live!

Two brilliant albums. I slightly favour Long Hard Look, just an album I have a huge amount of affection for a host of reasons/happy memories. I never understood why Shadow King divided people so much - what's not to love? The whole album is a stunning vocal performance by Lou, especially Russia. My favourite songs though are Once Upon A Time and the immense Danger In The Dance Of Love. I think

Hi folks, not posted here for a good while... I'm off to see Avantasia in Berlin and Hamburg next week and was just wondering if anyone has seen either of the Pratteln gigs this weekend. I've found the following set on Tobias' forum - just wonder what the correct order is and if its missing anything? Any help will be appreciated. Spectres Invoke The Machine Black Orchid Reach Out F

I've forgotten how much fun it can be. Not really been here for ages but I came back to do some research on Kip Winger's solo stuff because I'm not very familiar about what's good and what isn't. But I've been posting on here and looking at random stuff for a while without going near anything by KW!!!!

I was fortunate last Saturday to see the FM/Vega/Serpentine show. I thought all three bands were utterly fantastic and, while I've not yet got Rockville, I got the new Vega this week and it's a fantastic album. I do like It Bites and I saw them live in December at the same venue as last Saturday's gig (Slade Rooms in Wolves) but I am glad I saw the Serpentine version of the FM tour because it

The new album Mystery Of Time - about to be released - is getting rave reviews. But really you need everything! Both Metal Operas, Lost In Space I and II, Angel Of Babylon...they are simply unbelievable - the quality of songwriting is just awesome. I am off to Germany (am in England) to see them at the end of April in Berlin and Hamburg, 30 days to go!!!

I will agree with most here that Out Of The Silence is the best. But I will disagree with most and say that there is nothing boring about the more Celtic tinged albums, particularly Belief. Just because its slower, atmospheric and evocative doesn't mean for a moment that they aren't very good albums. Belief has some awesome songs on it and Arc of the Dawn isn't half bad either. I never got on muc

For whatever reason they started 15 minutes late and so their set felt quite short. That said they were well impressive and I stand corrected on John West v DC Cooper issue - DC totally rocks. Royal Hunt also had a couple of rather palatable female backing vocalists! Highlight of the set was either The Mission or Message To God. Royal Hunt were up their in terms of band of the festival that I saw

Agree with most of that, although I loved Blood Red Laughter straight away and still do! From Within is definitely a grower. I knew from Facebook there was going to be a choir on it so I suppose I was sort of expecting a monster ballad to close the album so I was surprised that it was mid tempo, but I really like it now. The point you've made about Bob's voice is absolutely bang on for me a

Another fantastic album, the last three have all been phenomenal quality and their consistency is amazing considering its all from the same songwriter. Faves on the new album are All The Dreamers (works as an album opener for me although I do agree Dance Of The Black Tattoo would have been a storming start), Blood Red Laughter, So Let It Rain (this has really grown on me), the simply amazing P
