Shrewsbury is where I live, Telford is where I work! Telford's honestly not as bad as its reputation but Shrews is definitely the better place to live!

Two brilliant albums. I slightly favour Long Hard Look, just an album I have a huge amount of affection for a host of reasons/happy memories. I never understood why Shadow King divided people so much - what's not to love? The whole album is a stunning vocal performance by Lou, especially Russia. My favourite songs though are Once Upon A Time and the immense Danger In The Dance Of Love. I think

Hi folks, not posted here for a good while... I'm off to see Avantasia in Berlin and Hamburg next week and was just wondering if anyone has seen either of the Pratteln gigs this weekend. I've found the following set on Tobias' forum - just wonder what the correct order is and if its missing anything? Any help will be appreciated. Spectres Invoke The Machine Black Orchid Reach Out F

I've forgotten how much fun it can be. Not really been here for ages but I came back to do some research on Kip Winger's solo stuff because I'm not very familiar about what's good and what isn't. But I've been posting on here and looking at random stuff for a while without going near anything by KW!!!!

I was fortunate last Saturday to see the FM/Vega/Serpentine show. I thought all three bands were utterly fantastic and, while I've not yet got Rockville, I got the new Vega this week and it's a fantastic album. I do like It Bites and I saw them live in December at the same venue as last Saturday's gig (Slade Rooms in Wolves) but I am glad I saw the Serpentine version of the FM tour because it

The new album Mystery Of Time - about to be released - is getting rave reviews. But really you need everything! Both Metal Operas, Lost In Space I and II, Angel Of Babylon...they are simply unbelievable - the quality of songwriting is just awesome. I am off to Germany (am in England) to see them at the end of April in Berlin and Hamburg, 30 days to go!!!

I will agree with most here that Out Of The Silence is the best. But I will disagree with most and say that there is nothing boring about the more Celtic tinged albums, particularly Belief. Just because its slower, atmospheric and evocative doesn't mean for a moment that they aren't very good albums. Belief has some awesome songs on it and Arc of the Dawn isn't half bad either. I never got on muc

For whatever reason they started 15 minutes late and so their set felt quite short. That said they were well impressive and I stand corrected on John West v DC Cooper issue - DC totally rocks. Royal Hunt also had a couple of rather palatable female backing vocalists! Highlight of the set was either The Mission or Message To God. Royal Hunt were up their in terms of band of the festival that I saw

Agree with most of that, although I loved Blood Red Laughter straight away and still do! From Within is definitely a grower. I knew from Facebook there was going to be a choir on it so I suppose I was sort of expecting a monster ballad to close the album so I was surprised that it was mid tempo, but I really like it now. The point you've made about Bob's voice is absolutely bang on for me a

Another fantastic album, the last three have all been phenomenal quality and their consistency is amazing considering its all from the same songwriter. Faves on the new album are All The Dreamers (works as an album opener for me although I do agree Dance Of The Black Tattoo would have been a storming start), Blood Red Laughter, So Let It Rain (this has really grown on me), the simply amazing P

Ok if you haven't tried them before do listen to Avantasia's The Wicked Symphony and Angel Of Babylon. The new John Parr album "Letter To America" is on seriously heavy rotation at Chateau Russ at the moment. Not for everyone here but if you want to step outside melodic rock then the Jane's Addiction album "Great Escape Artist" is seriously good, specially the first half

I want Tarja back. I know it won't happen but her voice was the perfect drama and theatre to the Nightwish sound. I like Anette's voice but it just doesn't suit Nightwish. Sorry.

We are doing ok in the UK and Europe. I don't think we will do any better than this but it does feel like some kind of resurgence. I do feel for you in the US. Best come to a Firefest or a Sweden Rock....
