What's interesting is that people seem to be scandalized by a song that takes on a social issue like abortion. Yet Extreme addressed the same issue "blatantly" on their first album in 1989 with the song "Rock A Bye Bye" yet it went basically unnoticed. John (and bands like Extreme) certainly take a risk with these kinds of songs, but you have to write from the heart and know

If you contributed to the project, I would contact John directly and complain if you don't think you were treated appropriately with his lyrics. I'm 100% sure he'll refund your money. If you didn't contribute to it, why should you be concerned? Those of us who did knew exactly what kind of album he was making and are thrilled with the result. No need to post back ... I'm done with this thread

Okay, I have a question here ... I own that album and have never heard the song "California Isn't Big Enough" until your post here and I looked it up on Youtube. It's not on my tracklisting for my CD ... was that a Europe-only track? A bonus track? That song rocks and I never knew it existed until just now!!!!

Ha, unless I have totally missed something as a Queen fan, there is no official release of anything with Extravaganza. Sounds like a boot to me.

I saw the interview with them where they said they tried to generate new songs that had the vibe of several periods in their career. That's exactly how the album feels to me - a little of the old and a little of the new. A song like "Street Jesus" just feels so much like "Toys in the Attic" that it makes me smile. If you listen closely to the lyrics of the songs, you hear f

The first track on the CD is an 11-minute epic prog song that could have come right off a Kansas album. Rich Williams and David Ragsdale play on the song and it's stunning ... worth the entire price of the CD as far as I'm concerned. His voice has never sounded better. It's a lot like Revolution of Mind but rocks a little harder and does have more prog moments. I played it constantly yesterda

It'll be interesting to see ... heck, I thought the band was having their last hurrah in the early '80s and here we are 30 years later! But I know they can't do this forever. I sure do love the latest CD though ... vintage Aerosmith for sure!

I got my John Elefante CD in the mail a couple hours ago ... autographed and ready for the CD player. Definitely worth the wait ... GREAT stuff!

They have not made a CD/DVD of Extravaganza yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see that in the future but nothing exists at this point. What a great show that was!!!

I have listened all the way through it about 5 or 6 times via Kickstarter. Absolutely love it ... he has outdone himself on these 10 tracks. The first song is epic and could have come right off a Kansas album. His voice has never sounded better and the songs are rock solid ... maybe a little more hard rock than we've heard from him before. Great stuff and am looking forward to the official re

I just listened to both versions and agree with Jack that I actually like the older one better. Good song though, either way.

Yes, that was exactly my point. When the Original Asia reunited, Wetton and Downes went far out of their way to make the point that "Asia isn't Asia unless it's the four of us." Howe leaves, and suddenly it's okay to just grab a new guitarist and move on. Definitely hypocritical, but with the egos of those guys, I'm not surprised.

Well, something smaller than Asia now ... how about Europe? Oops, that name's already taken.

I'm wondering what the "Original Asia" will change their name to now that Howe has left them and they're not "original" anymore either. Too much drama and not enough music!

Did you contribute to Kickstarter? If so, then I can understand your frustration. If not, I'm not sure why you're concerned. I did contribute and have no problem with the delay ... that's the music business and I'm a patient guy :)

I agree, Andrew ... I also thought the last one was superb and actually like this one even better. If I have any "complaint" at all, it's that there are only 10 songs on it ... after the last song, it left me wanting more. Great stuff.

Not last night but he recently talked about it ... Of course, they're way behind schedule (who isn't?) but he doesn't want to rush delivery until he's totally satisfied. Everything is done, from artwork to mastering, so I have to believe it will be on the shelves within a month.

I listened through it twice last night ... a stunning album that I believe may be his best. The first song is epic, running over 10 minutes, and feels very much like a Kansas song with violin and the whole nine yards. Lyrical themes are Christian and deep and the songs are a little more "hard rock" than we sometimes hear from him. This album was well worth the wait and I'm anxious to

I like this album a lot, but I have a hard time listening to it all at once. To me, many of the songs sound alike. If I put a couple of them on a playlist with other music, I love 'em. But I can't get myself to listen to it all the way through ... too much of the same thing that just needs a ballad or something to break it up. That's probably my age coming through though :)
