Formulaic is a good word for it. The music is very good, but every "new" song I've heard makes me think, "I feel like I've heard that song before." I also wish them well.

I really had high hopes for this album and gave him a chance because some of his earlier stuff is so brilliant. But this track has to be one of the biggest pieces of garbage I've ever heard ... it's embarrassing, really.

Hats off to these guys for not just continuing to tour with the hits and going back to the studio. It sounds fresh and awesome - can't wait for the whole CD next month. Anything Billy Greer touches turns to gold!

Agreed ... I didn't have the patience to listen all the way through it ... awful song, sounds like it was recorded in someone's garage.

I don't mind a lengthy track once in awhile, but there's no way I would shell out 15 bucks for four songs, no matter how short or long they are.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but this song isn't being sung by "the new guy" (Ronnie) - this sounds like a classic Billy Greer vocal to me. It's a really strong track in the classic Kansas vibe, but it also feels like a Seventh Key song because of the writing and Billy's voice. At first, I thought it was an odd choice for a first single because it doesn't spotlight the new si

Tons of talent there but I don't see myself buying a CD with only 4 long songs on it - I don't have the attention span anymore!

This sounds *really* good ... has the old Kansas vibe. Definitely a heavy influence of Billy Greer in terms of feel and vocals. I'm so glad to see a classic rock band making new music instead of just continuing to tour with their old hits. Rock on, Kansas!

This song has the vibe of Queen's Dragon Attack, and just like that song it's not bad but really goes nowhere. As someone else already said, it's a fairly forgettable song, though I've heard worse.

I actually have the other bonus tracks from that album from previous releases but not the Scholz vocal track. If you could send me the mp3 that would be awesome!!!!

I have been trying to find "Someday" from the last album with Tom Scholz on vocals. It was a bonus track on one of the releases but I was never able to buy it. Does anyone know where I can buy that version??

Wow, this is great news that I hadn't seen. I would love to hear some music with the two of them collaborating - two musical geniuses!

Terry, you said you like BOTH of these tracks ... which other new one are you talking about other than When I Was a Boy? I didn't know there was another one sampled yet. I love WIWaB - classic ELO vibe.

Same vibe as the first song ... a ton of talent and nicely produced but the style just isn't my cup of tea.

Good question ... I've been curious what's up with April Wine right now too. Also, there was supposed to be a new Starz album and tour this fall - has anyone heard an update on that one??

21. Keagy
I have listened to Kelly Keagy's "I'm Alive" solo album for the first time - I love it, just like anything he has done with Night Ranger. My question is: On the last song of the CD (Half a World Away), I would swear the backing vocals are being sung by Joe Vana of Mecca but I don't see any credits to Vana or anything online about it either. Am I just imagining that voice or is it Kea

Well, I grew up in the 70's so am into that era, but I'm not sure how much the Queen analogy works for this band ... huge Queen fan here since 1973 and I can hear the vocal analogy but their music was much more rock than pop. I wasn't a 10CC fan so maybe that's why it's not working for me as much as I had hoped.

You're splitting hairs, Terry ... if we couldn't hear how well they were produced, that doesn't change the fact that they just didn't sound very good, regardless of the front-end production. Songs I played on my 8-track back in the day "sounded" horrible, but if the songs themselves were good that's all that mattered. Many artists have commented that a strong album is basically imposs

I have mixed feelings after hearing Mr. Heartache many times. They have a TON of musical talent but the songs don't rock out enough for my taste - feels a little sugar coated. But I have a feeling it would grow on you after awhile.

I was one of the few when that CD came out who argued here that I really liked it and still do. There are some great songs on that album, catchy and get in your head. I enjoyed hearing a variety of voices singing the songs too. At these discussion boards, there is way too much emphasis on "sonic" this and "mix" that ... why can't we just enjoy a fun song with a good hook an

Yeah, I was really excited to see Cheap Trick as the opening act and was so surprised they were that flat - didn't even play a few of their big hits and seemed to just be filling the time. But that always makes you appreciate the main act so much more!

Agreed. I saw them last summer too and they were absolutely amazing. The disappointment of the night for me was seeing Cheap Trick as the opening act - flat and downright boring, I thought. Another band that was good in their heyday but that's about it. But Scholz still has it - awesome.
