I actually have the other bonus tracks from that album from previous releases but not the Scholz vocal track. If you could send me the mp3 that would be awesome!!!!

I have been trying to find "Someday" from the last album with Tom Scholz on vocals. It was a bonus track on one of the releases but I was never able to buy it. Does anyone know where I can buy that version??

Wow, this is great news that I hadn't seen. I would love to hear some music with the two of them collaborating - two musical geniuses!

Terry, you said you like BOTH of these tracks ... which other new one are you talking about other than When I Was a Boy? I didn't know there was another one sampled yet. I love WIWaB - classic ELO vibe.

Same vibe as the first song ... a ton of talent and nicely produced but the style just isn't my cup of tea.

Good question ... I've been curious what's up with April Wine right now too. Also, there was supposed to be a new Starz album and tour this fall - has anyone heard an update on that one??

10. Keagy
I have listened to Kelly Keagy's "I'm Alive" solo album for the first time - I love it, just like anything he has done with Night Ranger. My question is: On the last song of the CD (Half a World Away), I would swear the backing vocals are being sung by Joe Vana of Mecca but I don't see any credits to Vana or anything online about it either. Am I just imagining that voice or is it Kea

Well, I grew up in the 70's so am into that era, but I'm not sure how much the Queen analogy works for this band ... huge Queen fan here since 1973 and I can hear the vocal analogy but their music was much more rock than pop. I wasn't a 10CC fan so maybe that's why it's not working for me as much as I had hoped.

You're splitting hairs, Terry ... if we couldn't hear how well they were produced, that doesn't change the fact that they just didn't sound very good, regardless of the front-end production. Songs I played on my 8-track back in the day "sounded" horrible, but if the songs themselves were good that's all that mattered. Many artists have commented that a strong album is basically imposs

I have mixed feelings after hearing Mr. Heartache many times. They have a TON of musical talent but the songs don't rock out enough for my taste - feels a little sugar coated. But I have a feeling it would grow on you after awhile.

I was one of the few when that CD came out who argued here that I really liked it and still do. There are some great songs on that album, catchy and get in your head. I enjoyed hearing a variety of voices singing the songs too. At these discussion boards, there is way too much emphasis on "sonic" this and "mix" that ... why can't we just enjoy a fun song with a good hook an

Yeah, I was really excited to see Cheap Trick as the opening act and was so surprised they were that flat - didn't even play a few of their big hits and seemed to just be filling the time. But that always makes you appreciate the main act so much more!

Agreed. I saw them last summer too and they were absolutely amazing. The disappointment of the night for me was seeing Cheap Trick as the opening act - flat and downright boring, I thought. Another band that was good in their heyday but that's about it. But Scholz still has it - awesome.

Me too ... sounds really fresh, not like anything "paint by the numbers" we often hear. Love it!

Agreed ... this is a fantastic album that I have listened to dozens of times. The new vocalist has the same vibe and phrasing as Gary West always had and it sounds much more vintage than others. I'm surprised it hasn't been reviewed here yet - it's better than 90% of the CDs reviewed at this site, but I'm sure it's coming soon. I look forward to buying the hard copy and DVD. Rock on SS!!

21. Singer
Okay, lifetime Shooting Star fan here. I am blown away by the singing of Todd Pettygrove on this new album. I honestly think he's the closest to the sound of Gary West they've had since the 5th album. It's not that his voice sounds just like Gary's but that he has the same phrasing and it's almost uncanny. I actually listened to songs like "Eye of the Needle" and "She Gives Me

First couple listens were okay but after 3 or 4 times, it really grew on me. I really have missed these guys - wish the song had a prominent violin signature sound but still a good song.

thanks for your advice everyone! I just discovered that all five Angel albums, as well as Anthology and the live album, are available for download at iTunes for $5.99 apiece! You have to dig a little because a simple search of "Angel" doesn't turn all of them up but they're there!

25. Angel?
So, after listening to the new Dimino track, I decided to pull out an old recording of a few random Angel songs I had on my computer. I had forgotten how amazingly good those guys were back in the day! I remember seeing them in concert in the mid-70's and have missed that sound. So, I decided to buy up the CDs for my collection and was amazed to discover how hard to find their music is! It lo

Got my copy from the library and read it last fall. It's definitely a really well thought out book. I enjoyed Joey Kramer's book too, but I think Perry's is even better. You can really "see" him growing up and making sense of his life as the book progresses. Great stuff.

Funny you say that ... I played the song for my son the other day and had him guess who it was ... he said, "It sounds like Pride of Lions but with a different voice"! Peterik has his own style for sure and I LOVE this song.

Thanks, Terry, I would have missed that. I believe he is one of the best musicians there is these days - constantly writing and recording and simply never misses the mark. Amazing stuff.
