Agreed ... this is a fantastic album that I have listened to dozens of times. The new vocalist has the same vibe and phrasing as Gary West always had and it sounds much more vintage than others. I'm surprised it hasn't been reviewed here yet - it's better than 90% of the CDs reviewed at this site, but I'm sure it's coming soon. I look forward to buying the hard copy and DVD. Rock on SS!!

2. Singer
Okay, lifetime Shooting Star fan here. I am blown away by the singing of Todd Pettygrove on this new album. I honestly think he's the closest to the sound of Gary West they've had since the 5th album. It's not that his voice sounds just like Gary's but that he has the same phrasing and it's almost uncanny. I actually listened to songs like "Eye of the Needle" and "She Gives Me

This week?! Wow, that's amazing ... I wonder why there was no hype or advance publicity on this release! I'm excited to get my hands on it!

First couple listens were okay but after 3 or 4 times, it really grew on me. I really have missed these guys - wish the song had a prominent violin signature sound but still a good song.

thanks for your advice everyone! I just discovered that all five Angel albums, as well as Anthology and the live album, are available for download at iTunes for $5.99 apiece! You have to dig a little because a simple search of "Angel" doesn't turn all of them up but they're there!

6. Angel?
So, after listening to the new Dimino track, I decided to pull out an old recording of a few random Angel songs I had on my computer. I had forgotten how amazingly good those guys were back in the day! I remember seeing them in concert in the mid-70's and have missed that sound. So, I decided to buy up the CDs for my collection and was amazed to discover how hard to find their music is! It lo

Got my copy from the library and read it last fall. It's definitely a really well thought out book. I enjoyed Joey Kramer's book too, but I think Perry's is even better. You can really "see" him growing up and making sense of his life as the book progresses. Great stuff.

Funny you say that ... I played the song for my son the other day and had him guess who it was ... he said, "It sounds like Pride of Lions but with a different voice"! Peterik has his own style for sure and I LOVE this song.

Thanks, Terry, I would have missed that. I believe he is one of the best musicians there is these days - constantly writing and recording and simply never misses the mark. Amazing stuff.

Oh, I see it ... didn't realize the $25 version was different. It says there are 3 CDs - is that correct??

Where did you find the deluxe edition, Terry? I just searched at Amazon and they only have the standard CD.

Yep I'm also one of the few and proud that loved the latest album. I found the songs to be catchy and with enough variety that it held my interest over and over. Their concert last summer was a killer - so good. Was the album as strong as the first couple? Of course not. But I think he took way too much abuse over this album ... got frustrated with technophiles saying "the mix" thi

I completely agree with you CCM. I've been a huge Queen fan for 40 years now and really never thought they would ever be able to replace Freddie. But having seen Adam with them last summer, I was blown away. I saw them back in the day several times with Freddie, saw Brian solo, saw them with Paul Rodgers, but Adam has the voice and the stage presence that really bring them back to life. JSS h

I saw them back in the States in July and thought the show was stunning. Sold out crowd here too and Lambert has amazing pipes. They definitely still have it, and I'm really looking forward to the new album this fall (though it'll all be Freddie tracks without Adam singing). I do hope the album sells well and they tour again soon!

So cool that he's a teacher and had to return to school ... As to why Victor is out, I'm not sure I really care enough to worry about it.

Agreed, Terry. Both are great bands. Styx and REO have done that too, alternating who headlines every other show. It really doesn't matter to me as long as both 38 Special and NR get equal playing time - I'll be really disappointed if NR is relegated to 30 minutes or something.

Same here ... saw Victor with them last month. But I remember reading somewhere before the tour began that the players in the band would change on and off throughout the tour. For example, Neal was the drummer when we saw them in June, but Curly Smith is going to take over later in the tour. I'd be willing to bet that Victor was never intended to do the whole tour in the first place ... amazin

What amazes me is that Night Ranger and 38 Special are playing together near me next month but 38 Special is headlining with NR as the opening act. I was in shock ... I originally just assumed 38 Special was opening and that NR would be the headline. Does that surprise anyone else???

I saw them about four weeks ago. I was surprised they didn't play Heaven On Earth as well, particularly after telling us they had a new album and would be featuring "a few songs" from it tonight but then only played two in a row. But the show was fantastic, and Tommy's voice was spot on. My sons went with me and said they could close their eyes and swear it was Brad singing those son

My concern here is that when Platt joined Shooting Star, in an interview with Van M., he said that Platt had issues with any type of extensive touring so it wasn't really realistic to perform with him. If he had issues playing with Shooting Star, why should I believe he'll have time and energy to do the type of extensive touring Kansas does? I like his voice and all, but I really question this

Hmm ... I love most of what Marx has done but have to admit that this song does nothing for me. His voice sounds great as usual, but I find the song to be fairly boring - doesn't go anywhere. Maybe I'll warm up to it.

I went to buy the CD last night at their site and just before I clicked "submit", it said "This item may be backordered." I cancelled my order ... last thing I want is to have to wait an extra month for an album I've been waiting for since last year! I guess I'll just get it at Best Buy next week.

Great news, thanks Corey! The only bummer is that the signed version will be missing the bonus Best Buy track, but hopefully I can pick that up later. I'll order mine now ... thanks again.
