I was in Virginia Beach a few years back (2005) for Journey with Steve Augeri and they played on the actual beach with Vertical Horizon opening. Needless to say being on the beach with the sun going down, beer in hand this really has to be one of my all-time best gig memories. Toto played that weekend in one of the smaller tents on the Boardwalk. More cool memories.

This is pretty cool. Listening to the Open Skyz as I type and it really does sound a million bucks (which is probably what it cost). It does though remind me why I struggle with so much of what is considered AOR these days. The sound is just not there which is partly financial I'd guess but still...

I was impressed with all three acts last night. First time I'd seen The Treatment and the new singer seems a really good fit. The Dead Daisies have actually reinvigorated my interest in old-school classic rock. The new album really is superb and if anyone deserves their five minutes of fame it has to be John Corabi. A great night and the sound was fantastic for all the bands which always

I was lucky enough to catch Praying Mantis last night at a small pub The Cavern in London's Raynes Park. The band have quite a few shows coming up including the Frontiers Festival in Italy. Nice relaxed show as they shook off a little ring rust and even aired a few songs from the upcoming Gravity album. I was massively impressed with singer John Cuijpers who claimed he couldn't really hear

Great stuff. The likes of 'Lifeline' and 'Carrie's Gone' are pretty much perfect early 80's AOR. Shame Fergie could never actually stay in a band for more than one album.

Really surprised by the lack of mentions for the new Satin album on the board. A really top quality indie AOR / Melodic Rock album. KISS fans will need no introduction to Satin i'm sure. The RGM review. Satin

I know we've a few country fans on the board. Randy Houser was incredible last night at Bush Hall. Any fans? Lots of great shows in London this week during Country Music Week from the likes of Kip Moore and Drake White.

Great band. They opened for 3 Doors Down in London back in 2006. Great to see them still putting stuff out. Especially of this quality.

The RGM team were lucky enough to get along to Bush Hall in London on Monday night for the first night of the Sierra Hull UK tour. WOW Sierra Hull is considered a bluegrass artist but her set included Wayne Shorter, Bach and Prince tunes alongside her own material. The quality of playing from Sierra and bassist Ethan Jodziewicz was just stunning. The single 'Black River' https://www.y

XYZ were amazing but that was the shortest show I've ever seen from a headline act. I seem to remember the bassist had a broken foot or something like that. A cast maybe? My memory might be playing tricks on me.

Director James Mangold has done some good stuff in the past including the '3.10 To Yuma' remake, 'Walk The Line' and 'Cop Land' the Stallone film. I'd pretty much given up on the X-Men but this was really good and very violent.

Rush - Roll The Bones tour. Large top hats either side of the stage which had inflatable rabbits inside. Very funny, from my vantage point, watching the roadies try to get them to deflate by jumping into the hats. Red Guitar Music

Not strictly AOR / Melodic Rock but i've seen mention of both Stone Broken and The Amorettes in recent times on the board. New 1 day festival promoted by Cambridge Live. A revolving 3 stage set-up. Date is Sept 23rd in Cambridge only £15 which seems like a bargain. It might be worth the trip for some or a good day out if you're local. RGM Feature: Subterranean Fest

I've not heard the album as yet but at 33 mins it should sound amazing on vinyl which would seem to fit in with the audiophile idea. None of that grooves too close together issue. I wonder if Joe had that in the back of his mind?

I don't think of myself as a huge Kansas fan but the album is terrific.I really don't think any fan of the band will be disappointed it really is very impressive. Fav track at the moment 'Rhythm In The Spirit' is just immense.

This brings back a few memories. Axe Attack was the one for me.I was still at school and heard 'Sweet Emotion' and I was sold. The problem then was that Aerosmith were dead in the water at this time and all the albums seemed to be out of print. so I spent the next few months hitting all the local record fairs to track down the back catalogue. Needless to say I got there in the end. Those we
