New VOYAGER album "Colours of the Sun" is out... Not much talk of this Aussie pop/prog metal/djent band in this forum. These guys (and girl) have appeared at ProgPower USA multiple times and totally killed it live with their energetic stage presence. Here are some videos to check out from the new album: Colours https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reFRCJzHN8I Waters Over The Brid

Eclipse official statement via Facebook: "As you may or may not heard bassplayer Magnus Ulfstedt is no longer a part of Eclipse. Magnus is a stellar musician and his departure leaves a big pair of shoes to fill. We would like to thank him for his years in the band and wish him the best of luck with all his future endeavors both on and off stage. However, the upcoming tour will run as

Don't recall how I stumbled on this band; I think someone mentioned it on one of those "best of 2019" discussions. However, I am pleasantly surprised by this latest 3rd effort from the UK based quintet. Kind of reminds me of the Striker/Praying Mantis sound or maybe White Widdow. It's like they want to be heavy NWOBHM style, but then kind of water it down to a much more melodic varie

This band ticks a lot of boxes for me except for one... studio album production. A lot of their recent albums seem to be lacking in bottom end. I understand that everyone hears something different, but it is a consistent sound (or lack thereof) that bugs the heck out of me. And, it's not a case of adjusting the knobs on my own system. The mixes have a tendency to sound very flat to my ears.

Adolfo, I love these posts. Thank you for your hard work in trying to stay on top of the new releases. Do you have a place online (besides here) that you have the full list for the year, not just the current month? I know I could search through the Noticeboard and find the old months, but just wondered if you already had the data somewhere else. I am always looking for stuff that I missed

As many have already pointed out, there are some definite different phases to Kansas due to lineup changes and such. I am a fan of the original "classic" lineup with Steve Walsh and Kerry Livgren, and would recommend the live album "Two For The Show" which captures the best of that lineup's output as a nice introduction.

Had the privilege of seeing them live twice at ProgPower USA XVI, on the main stage and then at a VIP acoustic set. Simply awesome, very powerful and emotional. The most recent album, The Optimist, did not click at all with me - pretty disappointed after the outstanding triple play of We're Here Because We're Here, Weather Systems and Distant Satellites. Perhaps I need to revisit...? I thin

After having been introduced to them at ProgPower USA back in 2009, they have been an outstanding consistent "live" band at the shows I have seen. I had a hard time liking their earlier studio efforts because the production had been sketchy to my ears. For the most part, each album is pretty much the same; I don't believe you're going to get any surprises from this band. What they do

While all the discussion here seems to be about the U.S. visa process...in my opinion, that's not really the issue here. According to festival insiders, the band "was not comfortable" with using a stateside drummer, even given the 2 months prep time. Really? You have no one to trust over in the USA that could handle this? I mean...this is Pretty Maids....it's not some highly tech

Check out http://www.playamericavisas.com/ or their FB page at https://www.facebook.com/PlayAmericaVisas/ . On the FB page, they post pictures of the mountain of paperwork it takes for the bands they help get approved. It is absolutely insane.

Just announced... this sucks. I can't believe PM wouldn't be able to use a stateside drummer. http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/threads/pretty-maids-cancel-progpower-usa-appearance.1509459/ "Pretty Maids Forced To Cancel ProgPower USA Appearance It is with severe disappointment we must announce Pretty Maids have been forced to cancel their appearance. Thanks for the reminder, I have been hearing about these guys for awhile now. I checked it out yesterday based on your recommendation and it's along the old-school NWOBHM style that I grew up on. If you haven't heard them already, definitely check out Night Demon, also from Ventura CA. Their latest live album, Live Darkeness, is an outstanding intro.

I was lucky to have seen them twice at ProgPower USA in Atlanta GA. The most recent time (2017), the lead vocalist Zaher Zorgati came out onto the main floor, had us all form a circle around him and either sit/kneel on the floor with him as he introduced the next song, and tell the story of the song like they would back in his native country. It was very, very cool. Here's just a small snippe

Die hard Blackhawks fan here...tough seeing them be so bad and missing playoffs 2 years in a row. I was rooting hard for VGK last year, not so much this year. I almost feel like cheering for the Blues, but the divisional hate won't let me. Would like to see a Canadian team win it, but just anybody except Pens or Caps...

Yes, Riot. ND would routinely play Riot's "Road Racin'" at their live shows.
