Yep,absolutely Diver Down!! Songs like Hang em high, Secrets(imo their best song EVER),Cathedral(I remember as a kid thinking that must be keyboards!),Little Guitars.....Also the album with Eddies best playing....and the production is immense As for the covers, they are all great, which is why I thik this album gets such a bad rap from people who should know better. Seriously, especially if you h

I never really got the hate for Shirleys production techniques....Iwould rate the bcc albums as being really sonically pleasing. Ron Nevison,on the hand is a different kettle of fish altogether.....shocking producer, who I doubt would be fit to tell a good bass sound from a Barbie doll!!

I seen him in 1996 at the point depot in Dublin and his 3 hour show was stunning.......utterly irreplaceable musician. I remember buying the purple rain soundtrack the week it came out and playing it to death!!

I don't believe the "1987" Sykes story for a second!!....Dan Huff, good as he is,hasnt got the individuality of John sykes,a man who's trademark sound can be identified within a few seconds of listening...avery rare commodity!.......Huff has always sounded like a session man, albeit a very good one.

Geoff tate getting involved in a fistfight?.....surely not!! Your brother should probably be thankful he didn't spit on him,get his wife to join in,and then demand rights to the whole altercation which only he had the right to reproduce as a theatrical experience!

I would be quite confident in saying that "War of kings"is better than anything they put out in the 80s.....seen them live in Belfast and Dublin earlier in the year and they were staggering....especially with the newer material in their set.

I was in 3rd year in 1984 when the Ryche supported Dio at the Antrim forum on the latters "Last in line"tour. I had only heard the 4 track EP and realised that this was indeed a special band.......I wouldn't say that Dio got their ass kicked that night, but it was certainly spanked!!....Deffo one of the top dozen gigs that I have ever seen!

A shocking, shocking loss for the entire world!.....The first single I ever heard was "Life on mars/The man who sold the world......and for the next 40 years I made a point of at least listening to all the stuff he released, sometimes disappointed, but never bored!.....a genius of a man,who has left this earth a much richer place. Now,wheres that copy of Aladdin sane to crank up! RIP,Sir!!

Im not surprised his voice went at his Newcastle gig,as the night before in Belfast he was screaming like a man possessed! There was a good turnout in Belfast as well, and some folk I know who aint even fans of the man found it hard to believe that a man in his mid 60's can maintain such a high level of performance...and as for Aldrich,he was stunning, foregoing his les paul and playing a strat al

Best news of the year for me,so far.........Ive NEVER seen a sub-par Hughes show EVER,and with so many singers of his vintage sounding like a bleating sheep, these shows are unmissable!! And as for Doug Aldrich,he's the foil Hughes has needed since Pat Thrall,a great mix of Sykes and Blackmore. Newcastle,Glasgow and Belfast for me, then.
