Manowar - "Hail to England"......Their finest hour, and also that of real metal. "Powerslave "by Maiden would get the consolation prize, probably because everthing afterwards has,on the whole been cack!

I think you mean the "Slip of the tongue" record from 89....Coverdale contacted Glenn to sing the high bits and ended up only using him on a handful of songs. Im still waiting for the album to be remixed so you can actually hear him ,though!!.....It might as well be Emlyn Hughes singing on it for all you can hear!!

Im really looking forward to this album as it not just my favourite era of Purple, but of all music full stop......For all the naysayers (Dave ling in particular....he hates it!!) I could never get the real adoration for Mark2 Purple,in fact my favourite album by them is Perfect Strangers from 84, but barely a day goes by without Burn, Stormbringer and the superlative Come taste the band getting

I caught them on their Dublin and Belfast shows, and as a live band they are beyond reproach....The 5 songs from the new album are killers to boot! And as for Norum.....The guy is utterly phenomenal!!

Tommy Bolin's playing on their debut is as good ,if not better than anything else he recorded.......Great album, very riffy and Zeppelin like.

From the first time I heard it I wondered how long it would be until the lawyers got involved......and to think poor old George Harrison got well and truly shafted with a song that sounded bugger all like "My sweet lord"!!.....Funny old world!

I think Watt is an amazing player with great feel and a marvellous love of rock music for his age. For the record I liked California Breeds album better than the first and last BCC albums.....the production has just the right balance between a jagged modern edge and a traditional Rock n Roll behemoth, I haven't been able to stop listening to it Jake E Lee....mmmmm....maybe, if he could get back

If The Beatles hadn't existed, then this form of music which we love so much would still be somewhere out there in the ether. In the space of eight years, particularly the final four, their strike rate was unbelievably high with the music filled to the brim with invention and unsurpassed production technique. Did they write some shit songs??...too right they did,but not many!!

Don't leave me this way,Absolution blues and Wwhisper a prayer for the dying....Blues rock really does not get better than this, and Coverdale has always pissed over Plant,Vocally.

One of my top 10 desert island discs......The songs are magnificent,Coverdale never sounded as powerful again, and as for Page....his playing was absolutely god-like with particulary the last three songs being better than anything he ever produced in Zeppelin.

I got this the day it came out, having attended the show.....which was utterly mindblowing, def one of those "I was there" moments Get the dvd, you will not regret it. Best moments are Miller Anderson's tear jerking rendition of "Pictured within"....get through this without tears and you are a better man than me.Glenn hughes, with a superlative version of this time around.

I reckon he should ask Pat Mc Manus again.....Pat turned down 'ol Cov in the early 80S to play with his brothers in Mamas Boys, apparently the only player to ever do so. I saw him play in a pokey Portrush pub with his solo band the other week, and he is beyond shit-hot...an amazing guitarist.

Without doubt the finest blues-rock singer to come out of the eighties scene, a man with an exceptional talent, posessed by so few. So, should he be honoured?? what a stupid question!

I would probably agree with that, with Blackbird edging it over the debut........having said that,Fortress just keeps getting better and better with every listen. Way too many poor songs on AB3,in my opinion.

Great guitar sound and solo.....but I love his voice more in a blues based scenario like the slash band.

Putting ol Cov on a stage beside Hughes is the aural equivalent of putting Simon Weston beside George Clooney in a beauty contest.....a ridiculous notion,if ever I heard one! I'd still go see'em though!

I reckon the band handled this all wrong.......she would definitely have preferred Todd to grab her smartphone and throw it to the back of the hall!! Seriously though, a classy move that would have brought a tear to a glass eye.....looking forward to their Dublin show all the more now.

I blame government cuts to the "care in the community" bill. Funny as hell, nonetheless, but you have to remember that we used to lock people like this up for their own good........now we put the on BGT or The X Factor!! She must have been the inspiration for the Viz character "Aldridge Prior...He's a hopeless liar".
