Ask Andrew if he ever ends up PAYING any sales tax to any type of “Tax Authority” when he sells merchandise to anybody here in the states. If I were you, I would inquire with that company and ask what law makes YOU (a foreign person to the US) liable to pay that tax. Also, find out if your customer was taxed on his/her end as well. Double taxation on one transaction (in a case such as this

Not many people here in the states know this, nor will ever believe it but the tax system here is extremely corrupt. I am assuming this is a sales tax. Who are you paying this tax to?

You may be right, and I would definitely agree with you if I parked up close to the entrance, but I didn’t, I parked as far out as I possibly could. And as far as taking that car, I park like that with my other car as well. But I think I’ve come up with a solution to this. Thank you for your input sir. Thank you all for your honest (as well as some brutal) opinions.

It MAY be illegal on a PUBLIC roadway. Published or posted rules would apply.

Not so. Public is considered to be anything along a “public” roadway in which the rules of the road are enforced by public officials. A city street which drivers would have to abide by the normal rules of the road is considered public. Private is anything owned by a private party or corporation which is not enforced by any public officials under normal circumstances. The exception being

There is no law here forbidding double parking in a private lot.

Terry, any court of law would determine that double parking in a private lot is NOT illegal so long as one does not park in or block a handicap space without a handicap placard or plates, but vandalism IS illegal. However, since no physical damage was done on either party’s part, there would be no reason to even attempt prosecution, or attempt to sue for damages. Thanks for your input on the su

Perhaps it was pointless to you Mr. Shaw, but it’s giving me information that I need to make a decision whether to change my parking behavior or not. Nobody forced you to read or make a comment on this thread, but thank you for your opinion.

Gill, you’re probably right about bringing more attention to my car, but my experience has been that cars that I own get damaged more often accidentally when parking normally than they ever get damaged maliciously when parking in two spots at the outer edge of the parking lot. And if someone has some “not nice” thoughts about how I usually park, in over two years, they’ve never brought

Garyt, if you mean that I became one of those people that carelessly open their car doors into the sides of other cars next to me, I would have to respectfully disagree. On the contrary, I am always extremely careful to NOT do that, as I wouldn’t want the same thing done to mine. I’ve been parking this way for a few years now ever since someone put a dent in the side of my other car when i

Thinny, I never said that my car was nicer than anyone else’s car. I just purchased it recently and simply don’t want careless people to damage it accidentally. Had I parked as close to the store entrance AND double parked, I could understand their anger. I parked way far out in order to avoid that.

So Mr. Slutty, am I correct in assuming that you would do the same thing (or worse) to somebody else’s vehicle in the same situation?

Fortunately, there was no physical damage to my car (this time). I’m just wanting to know if I was in the wrong or if they were in the wrong. This will help me determine if I want to continue parking out there in that manner. I’d kind of like to know what they were driving though. And there are CCTV cameras in place.

I understand this subject is way off topic here, but since this is the only forum that I regularly take part in, I thought I’d pose the situation and get opinions from anyone here that may have one. So last night I parked my car in the parking lot of the local grocery store to purchase groceries. I have what I consider a very nice, newer model sports car. It was raining out and I parked as

I don’t think I’ve picked up more than three albums released this year within this genre, and nothing really stood out on any of them in my opinion. However, outside of this genre, Ariana Grande put out her Thank U, Next album which had two really great songs on it, “bloodline” and “bad idea”. Of which it’s very hard for me to choose between. If I had to pick only one though, it wou

Long, long, long, time “observer”? I think we call those CREEPERS on social media now. Just kidding of course. You’re not too far from me in Ohio. Welcome to the board. Just a couple words of advice: Don’t mention Captain Can Man or Tommy Denander. (whoops!)

Michael, I finally got to listen to it yesterday. I know you said you’re not trying to better the original, but it sounds like you didn’t have to try at all. You succeeded (in my own personal opinion, of course). It’s definitely NOT a carbon copy. Anybody missing out on this is doing themselves a disfavor.

Purchased my copy the other day. Haven’t been able to get a chance to listen to it yet, but knowing Michael’s work from the past, this should be a real treat. Can’t wait for the rest of the album to arrive.
