The 80's rock era really was ALL about image. That is not to suggest that there weren't some great bands out there but looking the part was probably more important than actually being any good! Gav

Whitesnake were hardly huge in the 70's. I remember an interview with Coverdale where he clearly stated that Whitesnake never made a penny until they broke America.......... which was obviously with 1987. Gav

Really?!!!!! There are thousands of photos from the 87 / Slip of the Tongue era that suggest otherwise. Whether YOU personally like the "label" or not Andrew, "hair metal/rock" was a genre that Whitesnake deliberately pandered to............was probably the most lucrative part of their career too. Certainly in terms of album sales. Gav

He certainly seems to have celebrity status on the MOR Cruise! Then again, I imagine he does get paid to attend that event..........even if he doesn't, I am sure he doesn't have to pay for a ticket which means he gets a free cruise and can strut around like fat, scruffy bell end in front of a large audience who seem happy to pander to his celebrity status! Always divides opinion this album. I never understood the hype to be honest. One or two songs aside, I thought it was very average. Gav

Whenever anything like this happens in the USA, there is worldwide media saturation for days and even weeks after the event and yet barely an eyelid is batted at the daily atrocities and tragedies in the rest of the world........... especially those which occur in what are deemed to be "less developed" nations. Furthermore, when airstrikes take out civilians in Afghanistan for example,

Not sure about Sydney but Rocking Horse in Brisbane is pretty good. For live events www.pollstar.com is probably the best site. In March, the Journey / Deep Purple, Kiss / Crüe /Lizzy and Guns n' Roses / ZZ Top tours are all happening but that's about it I think. U will find reasonable local bands playing the pubs / local venues though....... pick up a copy of "Time Off" for the local

The vocals are crap. As for the song, sounds like the typical "cock rock by numbers" fayre that helped kill the genre in the first place. Gav

To automatically assume that someone who takes their own life "had something wrong already" is a little naive especially when we don't know the full story of what went on after the event. The point I was making with my original post is simply that people really should stop and think about the potential consequences of a practical joke. Gav

I agree that the British media need to share the blame here but the radio station and DJs should be held accountable too. Whatever their intent, playing practical jokes on people u do not know is irresponsible and cruel. U have no idea how they will react. To do it in the name of entertainment is just plain wrong. Whether the woman had underlying issues or not is completely irrelevant. Further

I wonder how those two Australian DJs who made the prank call to the hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge is currently staying will feel now that the nurse who took the call has topped herself? Gav

I'll step forward on that one Brent............. NEVER got what the fuss was about with this album. The Unruly Child debut blows it out of the water 100 times over in my opinion. I even think the solo album, "Long Way From Love" is better too. Each to their own I guess :) Gav

Their first album was massive in Australia via Triple J. They even got the coveted #1 spot in the 2010 (I think) Hottest 100. Certainly not my cup of tea but they are undeniably popular. Gav
