WOW ! BBC Radio 2 (Drive time show) played Toto's 'Spanish Sea' last night. Toto on prime time radio at 6:45pm !! Kind of a big deal don't you think?? After playing it, the host Simon Mayo said "Everytime we play Toto, people call in to say how much they like Toto" it's featured on their playlist too: Link

Not quite the same but once went to a gig a day earlier than the actual date. Richie Sambora I think... Couple of years back. Went to the trouble of rearranging my shift at work...legged it home in a panic...stuffed a sandwich down my mouth in a hurry ...got changed, then grabbed the tickets and jumped in the car and drove off quickly as I was a bit late. At the lights, about half way there,

You're welcome Ozz. Agree though, would be sad to not hear his drumming again...but like Geddy says, to play what he does, the way he does, at the level he does, and for over 40 years, would take it's toll. Although, it seems (for now) the media may be making something from nothing...we'll see.

Yup, pretty much agree all round. There's deff some cool tracks spread across the last few studio albums e.g Room Service, open road, thought I seen everything, she's a little too good, etc - wonder who got co writing credit on those?? Maybe he's a little too prolific in terms of album releases, and should just hang on until he's got a decent number of rockers and bundle them up?? The two ne

Just caught footage of the Bryan Adams at Hyde Park - brilliant! Saw him at Wembley Arena back in Dec 14 - one of the most rocking gigs I've seen. BA and band were on fire, especially during the first half (entire Reckless album + extras)....great chemistry within the band and it was so obvious they were having a blast on stage. Felt the same about the Hyde park show too But on hearing the ne

yup, pretty much sums up my experience of them at Hammersmith too. played 2 hours, great songs, great lighting, great extended versions. Particular highlights were 'Look at Miss Ohio/Long December' and 'Round Here'. Mick - Funnily enough, I also had a great week of the same two bands too, MB20 & CCrows - but in London. Both Top draw live bands on peak form. by the way, CCrows were film

Really Superb show from MB20 the other night. Playing as well as ever, and great selection of songs. Sound was as clear as crystal and Lighting was top notch too. Crowd were really up for it as well. Perhaps one or two songs too many off the new album - e.g How Long, I Will - would've happily taken more off the back catalogue instead. I hear Dublin got to hear two of the North bonus tr

Great Show ! yeah, pretty much as others have already called it about the previous nights on the tour.... FM - just Excellent! still sounding/playing great. I personally thought the set list was fine...could've happily heard more from Metropolis and Rockville I & II...but all songs played were cool. Even threw in 'Heard it through the grapevine' for the 1st time on this tour (I believe?).

With the new Goo Goo Dolls album due, it's almost inevitable that Robby Takac (bassist) will do vocals on a couple of songs. Just wondering which of the other big name rock bands follow this practice - of another band member regulary singing lead on albums?? Matchbox Twenty's last effort had a track (or two?) by Kyle, instead of Rob. Journey had a song or two by all members on Generation

yeah Niv, I'd really be up for a Reunion too. FYI, Richard was actually touring with Steve Lukather early in 2012 - albeit in Ringo Starr's All star band tour. There's some photos & reviews on Richard's web site: Link Also, there was some chatter about a reunion a while back - just after Richard Page released his last solo album and the Misters last album PULL got the official release.

totally agree Paul and Froggy. never been to a gig before where the support bands had better sound than the Main act ?!?!?! Weird huh?? I even thought the lighting was better for both support acts ?!?! Back in the Ole Days of concerts, the support acts were usually given crappy lights, crappy sound, a short set, and a small part of the stage....i suspect so as to not to steal any thunder from

If new songs aren't possible for the moment, then does anyone know if the Guys have retained rights to their back catalogue? or, are they able to release any live, unreleased, demos, etc from the TOTO vaults at all?? Does anyone know if there's any end in sight soon for the legal conflicts with Frontiers...seems to have been going on for a while now.

GREAT GREAT gig last night. Terrific value for money 3 superb bands for around £25.... why can't more promoters be willing to do this??? Little Angels....smokin' and on fire. Amazing how their songs still sound great and easily stand the test of time. Toby Jepson was, is, and possibly will always be, a great frontman, with a fantastic set of pipes on him too! only played 1hr 25 mins I think -

Yeah, agree with most on here - richie was fired up yesterday- loved his vocals, banter, and general stage pressence- every bit as good a front man as JBJ imho. Comes across as a VERY genuine guy , funny too - e.g. While takin a break between songs..."us lead singers need to take a break every now and then, we haven't all got a F***kin Richie Sambora to throw a song at" - bit of a dig?

Just finished watching the gig. For the most part i agree with what's been said already. Great set really, nice mix of plenty old and a few new. Parade and Overjoyed were great, other newbies probably still being ironed out live - it's only their 2nd live show. Older material was STORMING though - the guys can still cut it live and Rob was a good as i've ever heard him. The encore was blinding

A question for Andrew I suppose, unless anyone else knows?? What's the selection process for the CDs that are reviewed under the Reviews section of the site? You obviously are not going to review every melodic rock/ rock cd that comes out, so i guess there must be conditions or criteria you apply to determine what gets reviewed? I do enjoy the reviews by the way - it may not influence my

There are three bonus tracks on the international cd version: 1. Waiting on a train 2. Straight for this life 3. I believe in everything However, the German CD single for She's so mean, also included the following tracks Help Me through this. & I Don't Wanna Be Loved. Anyone know how to get hold of these? Not sure if they're on the german version of itunes, and if it's even poss

I believe Matt produced this one too. I read an interview with rob the other day, ib which he said they wanted to work with some "top name" producers for the new tracks on the greatest hits record- and Steve Lilywight was top of their list. However, they felt Matt just fit them better, so got him back in this time - also got Paul to play drums on the record again- as the 2007 new tr

I agree with what you say that the songwriting split should not affect the songs. So maybe it's down to the delivery and execution then? I don't think the song writing is weaker by any means - just different to before. In fact, there are some great songs on North. Rob once said (on the storytellers DVD) that he'd only write a song when he'd have something on his mind and would want to get it

Same here. They have changed - some might even say Evolved. Still their output is great - just different to before. It has been 10 years between full albums , and bands/singers/songwriters/sounds/musicians change - heck, WE change too. The more i think about it the more i seem to think Adam Gaynor had an influence on the sound. Without that 2nd guitar and with Paul on acoustic guitar, the &quo

Talk about renewed energy, i saw them at Hammersmith last year (1st night of the Tour??) and they were absolutely on FIRE!!! Seen them 3 times over the years, and that was the best of the lot -plus the crowd were going freakin' NUTS all night long. personally, I'd happily pays my monies to watch them come to town every year and put on a great show of classic and not heard in a while Toto, wh

Once again i agree with you Chazz. The songs just need some Ummphh. It's a bit noticeable how Rob seems to have lost some of that angst and fire that was clear on earlier albums. Not sure why that might be, maybe he's just mellowed a bit with age (he's 40 now). Compare the end of Back 2 Good, Mad Season, or even Cold, or Feel - man, there was fire in his vocals right there!!! Just doesn't seem to

Absolutely agree Chazz. Rob Thomas has got to be one of the premier singer/songwriters in rock (pop?) and has been for some years. The fact that other credible musicians are gagging to work with him speaks volumes. Like I said before, I don't think I'm exagerating when I say I always finding something new when listening to MB20 and his solo stuff. His lyrics are incredible - almost describing

Interestingly, I found the following North song credits on Wikipedia. IMHO, MB20 seem to be going though what Take That have over the last few years (yeah, sorry to use Take That as a example - only one I can think of off the top of my head !) Both bands have had a Great primary songwriter taking care of song duty for the first few albums. Then, slowly the other members start to develop their
