I have everything he's ever done and I highly recommend Mike + The Mechanics' Beggar on a Beach of Gold album. It's Carrack at his absolute peak and the production and songwriting is incredible. Pure class AOR.

This is a universal message that everyone can appreciate regardless of religious beliefs. Good stuff.

You should be very careful when you refer to Jesus as "our" lord and savior. If he's yours, good for you. But as for me he's just a man. I like my music to be free of any overtly religious themes, no latter what the religion is. That is why the lyrics of Kansas from '79-'83 disgust me. Believe whatever you want, but don't preach to me. And as for you Captain Can Man, as pretty much a lu

Thanks Andrew. That's great news. Yeah Brent, that's a good way of putting it. I thought Keith Slack was really good. And call me crazy, but I found his tone to be like a deeper version of Brad Delp. Nowhere near Delp's range but their tones are very similar. The depth of the writing on The Raging Fire is far more thoughtful than your typical "by-numbers" melodic rock. - Ryan

Does anyone know what the status is regarding new material? I thought The Raging Fire was one of the best albums in the genre - ever. I'm probably in the minority but I felt it blew the Steelhouse Lane stuff away. It's been close to a decade and I hope a new album is on the horizon. - Ryan

I fully agree in principle with Kansas. However, the album they did with the symphony in 1998 was almost unlistenable because of the vocals. I would consider that his worst performance on record. With that said, the live DVD from a few years back is a must-have. A very good night for Walsh and great to see Livgren and Morse. It's a shame that Always Never The Same and Freaks of Nature were re

What do you chalk up to the immensely improved vocals by J.J. from Reach to Crossroads Moment? Was it Peterik pushing him really hard? Was J.J. simply more inspired? Or do you think some studio enhancement is responsible? I think it's possibly a combination of all 3, but hopefully very little of the latter. - Ryan

Not repeatable. I figured it was something along those lines. From a certain vantage point I can't blame the guy. He wrote an exceptional album for Jimi in Crossroads Moment. Even the stuff they didn't use which was on the Extra Moments album you put out was classy. He probably didn't see Jamison returning to Survivor as being in the cards. And now with Bickler in there it sort of lends mor

I think some of his best work was the artwork for In The Spirit of Things by Kansas. And the cover of Floyd's Momentary Lapse... was genius.

Nobody said otherwise. You can take the piss about whatever you want. Having everything in the catalogue and dozens of bootlegs I can tell you there are some things they've done that I strongly dislike -- be it songs, albums, certain personnel, etc. Everyone has a right to voice a critical opinion just like I have a right to be critical of your vantage point. Toto had huge success in America and aside from a few shows last year, have not played here in many years. I don't take it as a slap in the face. It's called a business decision. They feel they can draw more in other markets. They have no obligation to play anywhere. You're getting what you want in 2014. I'd be pretty happy about that. They went out of their way to even post their displeas

For a guy that is supposed to be "blue collar" and stuff, I'll never forget what he said in the VH1 Behind The Music. He said "I'll never drag this band down to the level where we're playing state fairs." Well, let me tell you, there are bands such as KANSAS that play state fairs, and they have more talent in their little fingers than Bon Jovi has in their entire band collec

Didn't see Streets live. Just have the King Biscuit and BBC Rock Hour shows. He was in great form vocally then. I personally felt he peaked with POWER, though many would say considerably earlier. I can understand why he didn't want to do any KANSAS. It's similar to how Delp really never wanted to do any Boston cuts (even though they did two) when he was with RTZ. He felt pressured. Walsh w

What it means EXACTLY, is that the Streets/Walsh demos were previously shared in extremely small trading circles. I posted them in uncompressed lossless format to the DIME sharing community for the masses to enjoy. Over 45 tracks, including the original demo for "All I Wanted" with different lyrics and Slamer doing an epic solo. Yes, POWER is my favorite album. You look down on m

I can appreciate the nostalgic value of having the entire original lineup present and I'm sure (and rightfully so) a DVD will be filmed for such a milestone. I do tire of this obvious attempt to cash in on past laurels. This is a band with no new material since 2000 who has continuously put out live DVDs (and a most excellent one a few years ago) that featured the return of Livgren as well as S

I love the fact that even though Jamison flubbed some notes that night, they didn't fix anything. That's extremely rare for an official release and I really appreciate that they kept the integrity of the performance intact.

I pretty much agree with most of this. I don't hear much of a change in his voice when compared to Crossroads Moment where he also sounded excellent. The songs were more melodic on that record and the vocals were right up front where they should be. Also, very good use of "Man Against The World" as an example of spectacular lyrics. There are so many lines from that song that are p

What ruins this very good album is the way the vocals are mixed, especially on the first song. You can't even make out some of the verse lyrics, Jimi's voice is buried. A voice like his should be right out front, not in the middle of a mix where it can't shine. What were they thinking????
