Was there as well this past Saturday... My opinion for what its worth??? Well... Let me first just say that when it comes to Vocalists, Michael Sweet is in that elite group of Hard Rock/Metal Vocalists, always near the top of my list for sure. Now, while he didn't exactly have a BAD night, THE WAY sounded a little TOO good as compared to the rest of the set; the give away was putting down his gui

Saw him with the free radicals back in November 2000 at a small Blues Club in Phoenix called THE RHYTHM ROOM... very intimate setting... The band was on fire but between songs, Walter was such a personable guy that you couldn't help but feel like he was a houseguest in your living room... a Great Show... praying for him...

Was very skeptical being a hard core fan of DC Cooper, but it's turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Along with the latest from Primal Fear and Adrenaline Mob, the bar has been set pretty high for Melodic Metal release of the year!!!

Wow!!! Has anyone heard DANGEROUS from WILD ROSE??? Gotta be the most retro sounding AOR I've ever heard!!! I literally thought I was back in the summer of '88!!! I know Andrew didn't rate it highly but It's definitely going to make my own Top 10 this year, I also thought the RAGE OF ANGELS album had a pretty good retro feel as well. And to take it a step further; SOS by MORITZ at times goes back

I believe they made a couple of albums available about 2 years ago; namely REGGIE KNIGHTON BAND S/T, RECKLESS S/T AND MELIDIAN, LOST IN THE WILD... but if you ask me, digital downloads of their catalogue are not worth the money... the beauty of ROCK CANDY is the whole package you get when you buy the physical CD; liner note, interviews, and the remastered sound quality you wont get with a downloa

Picked both up today at VINTAGE VINYL in NEW JERSEY USA... Free Fall was as I expected, an enjoyable hybrid of Power Metal and Melodic Hard Rock that should appeal to fans of both styles, with each of the guest vocalists delivering the goods. To my ears it's a winner! Traveller, while not totally sold on it, sounds like Jorn changing things up a bit. Some of the songs seem to me to have a b

Can't say enough about Fifth Angel, great band. Heavy, Melodic Rock with hints of neo-classical and even AOR at times. Excellent musicianship and a world class vocalist in Ted Pilot. In fact DC Cooper always reminded me of Pilot, a naturally, High Baritone who a could soar into some great, full voiced High Notes at times

Checked Out U.D.O. last night at the Gramercy Theater, not sure when the last time Udo was here in the states with his solo band but I'm sure its been years ... I've always been a HUGE Accept Fan, and the solo years are largely unknown here in the states, but it was nice to hear him stick mainly to the solo material throughout the set... Thought it was funny that he threw in SCREAMING FOR A LOVE

Hands down for me is the Barden era, with MSG being one of my desert island discs with BUILT TO DESTROY being a close second, but I also have a lot of love for the MC AULEY era as well... even ASSAULT ATTACK has seen quite a bit playing time over the years...

You might want to give these guys a shot, they seem to specialize in Jazz and Blues but I have gotten some decent AOR, Metal and Classic Rock there on occasion!! http://www.academy-records.com/

I actually quite like EQUATOR and think it's just about on par with HEAD FIRST, although both are definitely not in the same league as ABOMINOG.ABOMINOG to me was a successful hybrid of the BYRON-ERA and the early '80's AMERICAN AOR sound... I would also throw in the first two SHAW-ERA albums,RAGING SILENCE and DIFFERENT WORLD, to round out the very best Heep AOR moments...

Just picked up THE REVOLUTION BY NIGHT used... Never the biggest BOC fan but what a surprise... The songs TAKE ME AWAY(co-written by ALDO NOVA), EYES ON FIRE,SHOOTING SHARK in particular... and imagine the song VEINS without the typically off-beat BOC lyrics and a more accomplished Vocalist, kind of reminds me of RUNAWAY-era DAKOTA... Production is typical of that era (1984) but I'm really enjoyi

Great Band although I think this one is a real contender... without a doubt their best release so far... Gonna be a great year for Hard Rock/AOR etc. and this one should be one of the leaders of the pack IMO... Absolutely Love it... expecting a High Score upon review Andrew LOL!!!

Read Ace's book earlier this year and loved it. At times, it was absolutely hysterically funny although he's certainly lucky to be alive... read Gene's book years ago and it was certainly classic Gene; oozing with ego... Now I'm about halfway through Peter's book at the moment and let me tell you, regarding Paul and especially Gene; the gloves are certainly off!!! Can't imagine either of them wil

Without a doubt; Steve Plunkett: My Attitude (1991) What a pleasant surprise, a cool mix of Hysteria era Def Leppard style Big Choruses, AOR, Power Pop and Y&T style Hard Rock; so much more enjoyable than anything Autograph ever recorded... Can't get enough of this one, Highly Recommended!!!

As is my tradition every year at this time, I head out to the NYC Area's mecca for HARD ROCK/METAL/AOR, VINTAGE VINYL in FORDS, NEW JERSEY... This Year's purchases??? JIMI JAMISON-NEVER TOO LATE: I have slavishly purchased all of Andrew's 100% ratings for the past few years, not sure yet if I think this one is deserving; it may take a few more listens but I can tell you this, Jimi, as usual s

I'm here in Brooklyn N.Y. My neighborhood dodged a bullet, the neighborhood I grew up in, Gerritsen Beach, however is beyond devastated... The media is focusing on The Jersey Shore, but in Queens and Staten Island there is devastation that defies description; there is a general consensus that the Death Toll is going to rise significantly once we are well underway into the clean-up process...
