Joel really is one of the coolest, if not THE COOLEST guy in rock! He can play practically anything; he always seems to be in in best bands; and he is beyond cool with the fans (be it on Twitter, e-mail, etc.) This project seems really intriguing, and the style of music, he says it is, makes me even more excited. I WILL be checking it out.

What happened to the Styx: Live At The Orleans? The press release said May 26th, but all of the websites have no mention of it (Some had it listed, and removed the listing.)

Many people here probably know me by my many posts regarding lip syncing/backing tracks/tapes/etc. With that said, I've investigated this, for Foreigner, and they are a totally live band. Jeff Pilson & Chris Frazier have flat out said, "NO tapes & NO samples." The "trickiest" thing I know of in their shows, if you wanna call it that, is a doubling/delay effect on Mi

He confirmed on Twitter that he was just speaking hypothetically. He is NOT actually planning on doing anything. It is funny, though. Overall, I think his voice is still pretty damn good.

Am I the only one, here, who actually likes Make Love Like A Man? HAHAHA! I get a kick out of the corny lyrics and dig the classic, catchy Def Lep melody.

Unfortunately, I think Tom Scholz said Nick will only be with the band for the start of the tour, then Jeff Neal will take over. Jeff Neal is a high school teacher, and Nick is taking over drumming duties until school lets out for Jeff.

If what you're saying is correct, about him getting tired of the "big rock machine", than maybe it is a good time for him to rock out again. We all know that classic bands, since they are no longer en vogue, often get to control things more-so themselves, these days.

NO DOUBT Tony has the pipes for the gig. I have seen him, up close, multiple times and can vouch for the fact that he is the powerhouse people say he is. However, I too worry that he can pull of the grittiness that some of the songs require. In particular, how will he pull of the much harder Slave To The Grind stuff? Regardless, I happily check the band out, if they come to my area. Also, I

With the recent announcement of the Toto/Yes tour, I've been watching videos from the more recent tours, as well as 10-15 years ago. They really seem re-energized now! Now, I can't help but wonder, why did they rely so much more on backing tracks, etc during the 2003-2007 period, than they do these days (such as with Africa)? Sure I know Bobby was a bit of a weak link, but they had Tony Spinne

I really don't get the issue with Roth's performance on this one. When he stays in his lower register, like the original records and THIS performance, he sounds a LOT better. Other than a few off-the-handle moments, this is the best I've heard from Roth since 2008.

While it certainly wasn't his best, I didn't think it was that bad. (Maybe it's because I saw the 2012 tour, and have gotten in sync with what Dave likes to do these days.) I thought Panama was pretty good, actually, when he stayed in his lower register. I firmly believe that Dave's voice is not as shot as people say it is. He keeps deviating from the classic melodies, so he can hit (or try t

What inspired me to ask was a recent interview with Gene Simmons. While I know he is often FOS, he was talking about bands that use tapes/samples/people with synthesizers on stage, and called out U2 & the Stones for that stuff. While it's entirely possible, I can see them using tapes (Charlie only wears headphones for Sympathy), so I figured off stage musicians. Perhaps, Gene was just r

I keep hearing this rumor that The Rolling Stones have extra, off stage musicians for their shows? Has anyone else heard this? I know they have many visible, supplementary musicians on stage. I'm talking hidden ones. I assume they use very little, if any, backing tracks, with the whole slew of seen musicians who accompany them (perhaps a "Sympathy" drum loop or some "Angie&q

Honestly, the song doesn't do much for me. It's very dark & just seems to maintain the same level of intensity, the whole time. Orphan did not excite me at first, but has grown on me a little.(The driving vibe of it makes it more enjoyable to me.) Holy War is the best of the 3 songs they've released so far, in my opinion.

I'm quite let down, too. I mean the songs sound killer & certainly Snake-like, but we were all expecting a new album...not what is basically a cover's album.

Interesting comments. I personally like Holy War a lot more than Orphan. While Orphan is certainly well written/done, it's more somber tone & feel did not draw me in as much as Holy War. I have only heard Holy War 3 or 4 times, at this point, and it has already gotten stuck in my head. As I see it, the chorus is classic Toto.

YES, for the most part, I agree. BUT, I think one thing needs to accounted for: AGE! Sure, no one compares to Lou, singing Foreigner songs. But, in 2014, does Lou even compare to the Lou we know and love? These songs are well documented, from a particular period of time; one that can be copied closely, but not fully, even by those who created the music.

For those interested, there are 90 sec samples. for ALL of the songs, on the iTunes JAPAN store. (To get to that, go ALL THE WAY down to the bottom of the screen, once you're in iTunes. You'll see a circular "flag", which represents the country who's store you're CURRENTLY in. Click that, and select Japan's flag from the list. Then search as normal.)

I have it. Will I get kicked off/banned from this site, Andrew, if I post a private link, for everyone? HAHAHA! Ultimately, the song is solid. Not as good as some of the recent others, but the chorus is what really sells it (reminds me of Call Me from the recent Nelson album.)
