Hi all, Got a one hour Scorpions special on this week's show, chatting to Klaus about the new Unplugged album! 8 songs from the album, and Klaus made it very clear without me having to ask that he knows that UK fans are pissed off that they haven't played here on the farewell tour yet - he said they definitely want to do it, they want to bring their full show here and he said they have to p

Hi guys, Got an hour-long interview special with Michael Schenker on this week's show, complete with his choice of songs from the new "Temple of Rock Live in Europe" album. IMHO, he's playing at a career-high level at the moment, and is clearly loving playing live, great to see / hear him doing well! Also, Tony Niva of Oxygen drops in to chat about the band's "Final Warni

Martin Popoff and Ioannis (album cover artists) have a new book out called "Fade To Black", which is a collection of classic Hard Rock album art cover, superb stuff! Any of Martin's books, esp, the UFO, Rainbow, Dio and Thin Lizzy ones are excellent. And an Irish author called Alan Byrne has just written "Philip Lynott - Renegade of Thin Lizzy", which is an excellent look a

I'm a die-hard Dokken fan, but haven't liked everything they've done in the last 15 or so years (Dysfunctional and Shadowlife were good for what they were, but not my kind of thing). Don sticks to a mid-range vocally, but sounds fine to me at this range, his tone and vibrato are still there, and I'd say if Hell To Pay was a more modern sounding album and Lightning Strikes again was a more cla

Agree completely! I was doing some research before I interviewd Billy, and read that he co-wrote one of my favourite songs by Poco, "Call It Love", and he's written for a ton of other country artists. Great player, and a super-nice guy! The interview I did with him will be on the show on Thursday 18th Oct, I'll post the link! Billy chose a couple of songs from "Creole Shoe

I enjoyed this album, agree about the two tracks Andrew mentions in his review not being too great, but overall, as a long-time fan, I liked it. I've got used to Don sticking to his lower range, and his voice still sounds good to my ears within that range. I think they got the blend of old and new influences more accurately nailed on this one, than on say "Hell To Pay", which wasn't a b

Agree with the above! Don's voice sounded unusually raspy on "Lighning...", which was just before he had vocal surgery apparently. He sticks within his lower range, none of the 80s high notes, but having said that, his voice sounds good in the lower range. I liked this album quite a bit, I thought it blended the "classic" Dokken sound with more contemporary influences

1919 Eternal, The Blessed Hellride and Mafia are all good ones. Also, the acoustic album, Hangover Music, is a raelly good one, a bit different for an acoustic album, it has the full band playing and facemelting Zakk solos, but the songs are acoustic based. And his Book of Shadows acoustic solo album is excellent too.

I love the Michael Schenker era too, but I first got into UFO via the "Headstone" album, and this was in 1986 after the band had broken up and reformed with the Atomik Tommy line-up. I didn't k

Turns out Frank's cousin was a guitar roadie for UFO! Hadn't heard of him before, but this

I remember reading about them re-using early songs on later album. There was an interview with Ed around the time of 1984 in which he said "House of Pain" was from one of their original demos. Apparently he's always been a pretty prolific writer - having your own studio would certainly help with that!
