Just recently "rediscovered" the band Big Wreck and lead vocalist Ian Thornley. I knew I was a fan of a few songs, but had no idea about his "Solo" band Thornley and that he has an almost 20 year musical history. It was super exciting to have seven albums worth of "newly" discovered material to bounce back and forth between over the past few weeks. I would recomme

I believe Klett is out of the band, both recording and touring.(Lotus Crush) Scott Mercado is also out. (Touring w/Geoff Tate Band) The current touring band is Kevin Martin, Adam Kury, Mike Leslie, Brian Quinn, and Dave Krusen. I'm pretty sure these five are on the new album, with the possible addition of Sean "Memphis" Hennesy on some guitars.(Maybe) We won't really know f

Yes, I've heard the Le Projet stuff. I think the singles are on iTunes, and through their website. I'm not sure if a full album is on the way or not. The Gracious Few? I wish Kevin Martin would front them for another album...

Thanks so much for the information. I was a casual fan of Big Wreck, but was unaware of his somewhat "solo" project "Thornley"and the 2015 acoustic album "Secrets". I knew the Big Wreck material I heard was great, but I had no idea of the depth, power and skill in both his musicianship and songwriting. I've purchased six of his albums in the past two days.

I have not been able to make it all the way through a DT album in one sitting since "Train Of Thought". I always compared and contrasted each album to "Images And Words" and "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory" which to these ears are their two greatest musical achievements. Well, "The Astonishing" is a worthy follow up to both of those and perhaps

Rabin had been working on a vocal album, a follow up to 2012's instrumental "Jacaranda". He also mentioned working with both Wakeman and Anderson on things over the past few years. My guess would be that the death of Chris Squire pulled them together with the decision that the time was now or never. Looking forward to this very much, although I do hope he finishes that solo albu

Bruce John Dickinson from Little Angels is their guitarist. That's what brought them to my attention. Found it on iTunes, don't think it was there yesterday.

Jeff Watson mentioned on a podcast months ago that he found a cassette that had 5 or 6 songs from what would have been the fourth Mother's Army album. He had contacted everyone in the band and was planning on releasing the songs very soon. Does anyone have any more information? Was looking forward to hearing these...

There's a great podcast on iTunes called "The Double Stop". Episode #69 has an interview with Dave Jerden who produced the album. He actually talks about the masters being in storage that he no longer has access to, and if he could gain access the album could possibly be released. (I don't think he knows it was released a few years ago) He also talks about Rowan being one of his favorit

Which are the stunning tracks? I struggled to sit through it in one listen. Only one good song in my opinion. I was hoping for the best.

Listened through "Hot Streak" a few times, and while do doubt the musicianship is there, a few of the songs sound a little busy. However, "Fire" and "Spiral" are worth the price of the album. Two fantastic tracks that "elevate" the album.

I am a fan of the Dan Reed Network albums and thought "Heat" was an amazing collection of tunes. I however have struggled through the last couple of Dan Reed solo albums. I know quite a few years have passed since his time with the Network and his life experiences and philosophy have changed him, but how can his songwriting have changed so much? His acoustic tracks on the Network albums

Saw them a few weeks ago in Ohio, also disappointed only two newer songs. Thought maybe McNabb joining was the reason for the three Dokken tunes. (3 songs he already knew well) Anybody know why Oni is willing to sing Dokken songs, but doesn't cover any Mason songs from the 2nd Mob album? If I never heard Oni sing "Into The Fire" or "Tooth And Nail" again I would be fine.

Excellent combination of "Number Of The Beast" era with "Final Frontier". Retro and contemporary at the same time. I think whatever "stress" people are hearing in the vocals is intended.

I think the sound issue occurred during the import to itunes. I deleted it and reloaded it and haven't noticed it since. Two other notes: track 1. "Vulture" is listed as "Vulture Culture" on car disc player. 2. disc 2 tracks are sequenced alphabetically.

Listened through a few times now, I think the first disc is the stronger of the two. I read online the first disc was more recently recorded, with disc two around three years old. "Vulture" has a definite Souls feel along with "Ghost". Fantastic solo on "Power And Resistance". "World On Fire" on the second disc is a monster, KXMish. Overall it's a lot to di

On the Candlebox front, guitarist Peter Klett and drummer Scott Mercado have left the band. Klett has two other bands Lotus Crush and Apollo Under Fire so I guess he sided with those. Mercado was also in Lotus Crush but has since left that band. Dave Krusen is the current touring drummer. Mike Leslie and Brian Quinn have also joined the band on guitar. I think Sean Hennesy is also still in

Got the cd's in the mail yesterday and think it might have a sound issue. Most of the tracks sound a little "muddy" or have a weird distortion, most noticeable on "Trail Of Tears" on the drum beats. I downloaded "Vulture" and "Trail..." From iTunes and didn't notice it on those tracks. Played it through several pairs of headphones, iPhone and stereo and the

Just finished listening to Schenker's Spirit On A Mission, and while some of the songs are more of the same, there are several standout tracks. I was really impressed with the production and vocals. I know Doogie White has been around for awhile, but I'm late to the party. I've missed the last couple Schenker albums. I'm just looking for some recommendations on other Doogie albums to check out.
