It's struck me recently that with all the modern apps, you tube..face book, twitter etc etc, that most gigs are practically posted, praised, criticised , practically instantly on line. Take for example recent comments about Ozzy, or Dave Lee Roth to name just a couple, but here's a thought for you. Back in the day when I started going to gigs (1980 Ready & Willing tour with Whitesnake o

Good luck to him.....Guys been a legend over the years and deserves to enjoy his retirement (while maybe writing some solo more bluesy albums or doing acoustic shows). He sounded great last year on the Purple tour, and I'm guessing he wants to say farewell properly with just a Whitesnake set. Regardless of what you think of his vocals nowadays, he remains possibly the finest front man I've

Both excellent..Both very different...My personal preference is Jorn, but that's more because I love the Coverdalesque Richness in his tone, and the more Classic Rock style material. But both these guys are World class imho.....

Over the last couple of years have really got into Avantasia. The new albums excellent, and yesterday received THE FLYING OPERA which I had to source from Germany-What an absolutely fantastic package-2 CD'S, 2 DVD'S, and the presentation is fabulous. In my view, Tobias Sammet must be one of the greatest modern songwriters of recent times-The guys a total genius!... SCARECROW for example is

DC's already said that himself and Joel Hoekstra have been working on some stuff..Whether that's been some additional acoustic style tracks for the forthcoming dvd of the Purple tour OR SOLELY PRE-IDEAS FOR ANEW ALBUM, I'm not sure. Also, reading between the lines have a feeling DC may be announcing that the 2016 tour (most still to be announced) will be his last as a big Rock performer before

Maybe I'm just showing my age, but I used to love the old original Donnington festivals...one day...6 top band....rather than todays 3 day bandfest with literally a hundred bands playing at various stages. My question is..if you could pick 6 bands( and 6 bands only) to play a one day festival today which bands would you pick? ( You can pick current bands, old bands back in the day maybe not pe

Haven't listened to the remaster to be honest as it's the only Whitesnake album I have serious issues with. First time round I HATED the production on the original..To me.it had no depth or richness (imo) and I just couldn't enjoy it...Having been a Whitesnake fan since the Ready & Willing tour...I enjoy all their albums..from the early bluesy style (which I prefer) right through to Foreve

9. Re: :(
To me, he needs to record an album in the style of early Whitesnake....When he sings in that Coverdaleesque tone ( eg House of Cards), he sounds amazing.Much prefer that style to the Dio style he's adopted last few solo albums. I remember when he played live with Moody/Marsden in THE SNAKES and he was excellent, and something like that song wise style would be far better, and have more variety

Addyeddy....It's 100% a vocal effect that was coming through on DC's vocals.....Seen this myself when gigging many times....I tried it once a few years ago..Pretty cool ( but only used it once)..He defo wasn't MIMING..I was a few feet away from him in Glasgow and could hear that it was totally live. Interesting comments about the sound for DL though..as these were the SAME problems they had in

Wow...Reading the reviews of Glasgow and shocked at some of the comments about Coverdale. I've criticised him in the past but in Glasgow he was on fire...To me and all the people who were with me , it was the best he's sounded since the early 80's. And that was the opinion on most other forums ( apart from this one it seems). And I'm also a singer so my first point at a gig is to focus on the

It WON'T happen unless Michael Anthony is involved....and there's no way EVH is going to remove Wolfgang from the fold. Not gonna happen.

Enjoyable.....No doubt there will be the usual internet criticism but I still think the Purple albums pretty good. And with Old Cov sounding great on the live videos from the current tour, really looking forward to seeing them in Glasgow in a couple of weeks.

It's typical of how low sales need to be these days to make the charts in comparison to years gone by. However, the reason I believe that bands like Leppard and Whitesnake WILL continue to produce albums is that all the recording is done in their own home studios now..cutting the costs rights back..All they then need is a distribution deal, which they'll comfortably obtain ( and have done).

Had the pleasure of seeing Bernie Marsden ( with the amazing Jim Kirkpatrick recently) on their acoustic tour, and Bernie was asked about the success of 'Here I go again' Bernie told us that from the start of the concert to the point of the question ( around one and a half hours), the song will have been played on US radio over 500 times alone!!...8000 times a day!!!..an incredible statistic f

Saw JSS in Glasgow with Journey, and having seen the band several times before that with Augeri( who was excellent), was blown away. I remember leaving the gig and saying to my wife that what a great decision they'd made by having him in the band because he'd given them a kick in the balls..they had more edge, and as a frontman Jeff was amazing. PLUS he sang the songs superbly..not in a sou

Can't wait to see them in Glasgow in December..All the reviews of the tour so far have been great. And got to agree with Phils' earlier comments, DC's a legend and will be missed when he stops touring....He may be older, and in the twilight of his career, but always gives 100%. Time to stop knocking, and appreciating these great artists as they come to the tail end of their careers.

Toto Bob...& Nik,,,,You guys make excellent points.... Occasionally on n other sites like Blabbermouth, Classic Rock etc etc....there's a line that people just tend to cross...that can border on the ridiculous and downright venemous. Nik made the point about DLR and DC,,I remember reading an article last month on line about Coverdale,(not on this site I may add) and while most posts were

I'm with Terry K here guys..It does sound like in ear monitor issues ...and trust me..having used them myself..if their not spot on..can cause HUGE pitching issues with the vocals......I've seen this with MANY bands over the years.... I actually ended up going back to on stage vocal monitors which I prefer (call me old school!)..Maybe that would be BK's best bet for future gigs....

I'm not so keen on extended solos myself to be honest..but they're always done this since I first saw them back in 1980 Would prefer more songs but some people enjoy them more than others I guess Can tolerate them if they're kept pretty short....

Again....DC seems to be in tremendous form (backed up by the many many videos I've seen from the tour) No doubt you'll get the usual suspects slagging his vocals off, but FFS when he's singing great let's embrace it and give him kudos. From what I've heard from people who've been to the shows he's sounding as good as he ever did.... Can't wait till Glasgow in December.....
