I'd like to see all the Unplugged shows on cd/dvd, including the Queensryche & Winger shows. Would also like to see the Winger-Live In Japan released into the US on digital. Supposedly one of Kip Winger's shows with the Alan Parsons Live Project was being recorded, but nothing since then. Oh well...

Kip Winger just did a couple of shows with Reb Beach and his brother Nate Winger along with the Colorado Symphony. Wish I could have seen it. Kip is getting a reputation for his classical style music so I'm sure we will see more of that kind of style.

My father built his stereo system from scratch or kits. Literally. In the later 1960's/early 1970's there was a company called Heathkit--a subsidiary of Radio Shack, I believe--and he bought his tuner and amplifier from them and built them. That system lasted over 20 years, I think. It was tube based; I remember watching the tubes warm up and glow when he would turn it on. Dad was an electronic

Exactly. Case in point: when the earthquake hit in Iran, the shockwave was felt as far as India. My company has associates in India, and they had to evacuate the building. We were worried about them--not just from a company standpoint, but because even though we've never met, we share a common bond. It was a relief to have them come back after the all-clear was given to them--again, not just b

I think kingnoony hit it on the head. I sat here just now and tried to figure out how Winger would do it with Reb Beach, John Roth, and Kip Winger's setups, running through the Marshall Amps, and just figuring out the cabling gave me flashbacks of wiring up a mainframe computer in the 1980's. :S Kip's acoustic setup would work nicely in a round, though. The Richmond Coliseum is oval-shaped,

I still look back to Mason William's Classical Gas as my benchmark for recorded guitar. Saying that...second place to Kip Winger on Free. Either from the Japanese double CD for ThisConversationSeemsLikeADream or from Songs From the Ocean Floor (But I lean more towards the first version...). Watching him play it live is amazing--even my husband, not really a Winger fan, loves it. +1 Rond

There was a guitar player, Rob Eberhard Young, who worked with Kip Winger several years ago--in fact, Kip _halted_ work on Songs From the Ocean Floor to work with him. Unfortunately for both of them, Rob's labed decided to not release the album, "Speak", and the last I'd heard it's still in limbo somewhere.

Interestingly enough, I saw Firehouse back before they were Firehouse. Back then they were known as "White Heat". They played J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College's May Fest 1984. I was on the crew for that as I was in the student government. I wasn't quite into their music then I considered them a Van Halen rip-off, and I'm not a VH fan.. I did pick up their first two albums aft

I liked 'Karma' a lot better than 'IV' - I think on the last album Kip had finally gotten out of that mental lock on trying to do fancy stuff and went back to the basics, and (to me) it worked. 'Pull' is one of my "desert island" disks, though. If you go by the first & second albums alone, yes, one could easily dismiss the band. That I blame on the producer, Beau Hill...but that

only a guess here...but Winger's live show in Japan was only for the Japanese market (it was on laser disk even - remember those?). Maybe the original intent was to sell over there first and then overseas if ever...

My best example is the Bee Gees. They actually broke up one time because Barry & Robin were fighting over who got to sing more lead vocals. And Maurice got a few lead vocals too. I suppose that The Alan Parsons Project wouldn't count too much as most of the people in the 'band' were actually hired musicians/singers, even though Lenny Zakatek & Chris Rainbow were on most of the albums

I know that Winger sometimes plays the bass line in a couple of their songs (Rainbow in the Rose, Heading For a Heartbreak) via an Apple laptop PC so that Kip can play the keyboards. That had been a question for me when they went on tour to support IV since they couldn't get Cenk Erglou to join the tour due to visa issues, and Paul Taylor has all but retired from touring. However, sometimes

nah...female point of view here... Sean Connery as 007 Russell Crowe in Gladiator Hugh Jackman as Wolverine Chris Hemmsworth as Thor I do have to give props to Chow Yun-Fat in The Killer and Hard Boiled. Also to Jackie Chan for doing his own stunts--even now as he's older now... Jet Li is 'up and coming' still, and it's been a while since I first saw him in one of the Lethal Weapon mov

I vaguely recall Kip Winger saying something about taking an ice pick to his face because most people focused on his looks rather than the music... And it did...I liked Richard Marx, but could not get into Winger at first because of the image. Not until "Heading For A Heartbreak" came out, at least. Not Rush either--I'd associated them with the boys in my class and just wasn't a fa
