Pretty tough to near impossible. A good friend of mine used to be at a small/medium European label. Whenever I'd visit his office, he'd have a massive pile of demo's on his desk. I asked his about this and he said they get less than a minute to impress him, after that they go in the bin. Also these days you can get some pretty good pro software for not a lot of money (Logic Pro X) and check o

It's actually live on channel 9 HD channel 90 (GEM). England were great, Australia rubbish, a few changes are needed. Siddle and the Marsh brothers in.

I was a massive Dokken fan back in the day, owned all the records. These days I only have the self titled Japan CD. So with the thread below, I opened the CD to find a DVDR inside, had no idea what was on it, so I played it. On the disc in a pro shot gig from 1987 supporting Aerosmith. Transferred from VHS, I have no idea when/where I got it. So a short set, the band sound pretty good, apa

Absurd? The doom and heaviness of Sabbath, the atmospheric keyboard sounds of Rainbow, with folky acoustic female vocals? Did you actually listen to any music?

Avatarium Not usually my thing at all, but their album is really good, full of classic 1970's sounds. http://www1.wdr.de/fernsehen/kultur/rockpalast/videos/av/videorockhardfestivalavatarium100_size-L.html?autostart=true#banner

Nemo and Amaranth have been played on the current tour. The other 2 have been played to death over the past 2/3 tours and are welcomely (by me at least) rested for the time being. It's called freshening up the set.

She is not holding back anything. The vocals fit the music perfectly. The days of the Nightwish operatic vocals are long gone. Thoumas does not write that kind of material anymore.

Bloody awful to say the least. The compression is terrible, and as someone put it on another forum, 'it sounds like a midi track with guitars and vocals overdubbed'. Then we have those lyrics, oh dear...

Yeah I noticed the hike in prices of new releases. If you wait a couple of weeks, the price usually goes down around 20%. That said, living in Australia, shipping is pretty reasonable and I don't have to pay VAT. But the high price of new releases, it's almost as cheap to buy Japanese imports from CD Japan.

Nightwish are at a far greater level than Sabaton. If you look at the album sales and headlining tours (non festivals), Sabaton have a long way to go to match Nightwish. 'As for the 3 faceless replacements' in Sabaton, your being a little harsh here. The only problem I have with the new line up in no keyboard player. Seeing them live with the keyboard back tracking so prominent on many songs

Seeing Sabaton for $30 is a steal, no question. What exactly don't you like about Nightwish?

Floor horrible, really? How exactly? Bad singing, strong accent, bad pronunciation? Anette was a round peg in a square hole. Good decent voice, but totally wrong for Nightwish's style. She was decent enough on DPP, but live on that tour was totally out of her depth trying, unspectacularly trying to perform the older material. With Floor NW finally have a singer with range, style, and a

There are a couple of threads already, so not totally ignored here. Definitely a grower, I've had it for the last week or so and it's getting better with each play. Huge epic sound, I'm looking forward to checking out the instrumental and orchestral versions in the next couple of days. Floor leaves Anette for dead, she has a far great range and sings with a lot more passion and emotion.

Epica are great and the growls are the icing on the cake. The growls have nothing to do with their following not being bigger. Delain are not even in Epica's league, first album was great second not so good and downhill since. While Epica are going from strength to strength, getting better and are killer live.

Didn't Kiss have Derek Sherinian a few years ago, have him hidden on stage behind a curtain playing live keyboards with them?

Hang on a second champ, no one was pointing any fingers in your direction. My comment was about mp3 and how they can spoil an album, due to their poor compressed lossy quality. I'm a massive Nightwish fan, I have some 90 odd NW CD's in my collection, but in no way was I tempted to spoil the pleasure of the real CD. BTW you must have some very good contacts to get an advance CD. Given that

Yes it's been around for a couple of weeks on the net. Not sure what the source is/was, but I am not listening to a bunch of shit quality mp3's. It would spoil the massive sound and production that I know is coming with the real CD.

My username has nothing to do with anything really. It's just that, a username. I like all kinds of music, from classical to 1980's pop to opera and the most extreme metal you can imagine. Great music is just that regardless of genre or catagory. One of my fave artists is Mike Oldfield, who in the past has written and performed many lengthy epics. I just don't get the Neal Morse hype

No most long songs are worthy of the length and contenet. Even some of the extreme metal bands I listen to have epic 20 and 30 minute songs that even seem to finish too quickly. Not interested one bit in Neal Morse solo stuff, but he's okay in Transatlantic and they have some mighty epic songs.
