Vega is album of year for me so far. WET Rage of Angels Bon Jovi The Band Perry -'Pioneer' is probably my favourite non rock album of the year although Dan Huff's production and input almost makes it a rock album!

Aside from the new James Christian Cd I'm at a complete loss to think of anything that's on it's way. Anyone help? Best of the year with WET, Vega and Bon Jovi seems to be behind me. Some quality modern country on the way with Lady A, Darius Rucker and Keith Urban all due but what rock / AOR is there?

It's one of the things holding Vega back for me, lack of an online presence. The other thing I think they need to do is try and secure an arena support slot with a Bon Jovi or Nickelback - but that's easier said than done.

I went down to London to see one of the comedy chat podcasts - one with Armando I. and Graham Linehan - was very funny but never made it to AIOTM (AIOTM). Seen him on all his recent tours but giving Talking Cock a miss. Fan since Fist of Fun. Love Stew too - so listen to Stew for intelligent, middle class 40+ humour and Rich for purile belly laugh stuff with an aside of cleverness. (Aside : n

However whilst the vid might be from the last tour they played Dry County for the first time on the tour in Denver last night. Personally I consider that to be their finest musical moment and am always frustrated that Jon can't see it could be the pivotal moment of any live set. Interesting that it gets brought back when Richie isn't around. The suspicion is always that Jon can't sing it anymo

I'm still surprised that people are surprised at what happens as I forget for some people this is either very new or tv only. Being a sci fi / fantasy fan I bought the first book when it first came out - what would that be 10/15 years ago now so I've lived with this story for all that time. Watching the tv is a weird experience for me as I tend to sit waiting for stuff to happen. Without go

Only ever seen Def Lepp and Shania in the round and enjoyed both. Did remember thinking that it was a better concept than end stage set ups.

I assume it is purely economics in that most stadiums and arenas are set up to accommodate end stage tours. It must cost more putting the stage in the middle, moving lighting rig, seats etc.

I agree - only saw them once at Firefest and I couldn't believe their choice of songs or how static Harry was and yet I love them on cd. Hoping for better this year!!!

One of those people who I knew nothing about, never saw a picture of but saw his name on a lot of albums over the past 27 years. Leaves a cool legacy and body of work.

If you ever want to know how you have affected our lives take my example: I'm sitting in a hotel at Universal Studios in Florida waiting to check out after a knackering week in the parks, before we head down to Sarasota. AND IM ON THIS NOTICEBOARD!!!! Contributing to a bizzarre discussion about somebody I've never met!!! If that's not enough to give you a boost I don't know what is! Kee

I'd easily take Steve's sarcasm over the constant use of meaningless analogies any day. At least there is intelligence in sarcasm!

I've seen BJ 27 times since 1987 and I can honestly say that if Richie wasn't in the band I wouldn't go see them again. The band may have Jon's name but its always been a partnership to me, blood brothers etc etc. In some ways it's amazing they have lasted this long without falling out (although I think they had by the end of the Jersey tour.) The problem is they have toured too much I the

To me as someone who follows the band I think there has been this chain of events : 1. Richie records solo album, master of his own destiny. 2. He goes out on tour happy, healthy and in control ( I can testify to that as I was at the Sheps Bush gig and he rocked!) 3. Jon writes and largely records the Bon Jovi album without him. 4. The tour starts and Richie is marginalised into the backgro

The problem is that if you try and micro manage all the pieces of the jigsaw that don't fit a picture out you end up with a very boring picture. How many regular, daily posters are there in this board? 20-30? It isnt many. Yes there are thousands that stop by to read but if we add up the regular hard core posters it ain't many and so whilst his views weren't compatible with most on here with t

I miss Tony Marshsall - maybe it's because I'm English and appreciated his ironic sarcasm more than some of our international members. Steve will be a big miss on here if he has been kicked off. Philthy Phil was a big sack of negativity but Steve isn't. He was one of those voices on here that didn't get swept up with hype and gloss but called it as it is. Sure, he can be abrasive sometimes but

When I met the band on the recent FM tour we stood and chatted for 10-15 mins and they were adamant that they want to try and break out of the AOR genre and appeal to a wider audience, hence the slightly different , less obvious Frontiers style sound. Fair play to them but not sure how they can do it without something a slot as support on the Bon Jovi tour or a song in a film.

Because there's no money to be made. Which to me makes it all the more admirable that there are people out there trying to keep the genre alive. I like a lot of the current crop of rock - AOR bands because I have a need to find new music, can't keep listening to classics. Will I still be listening to them in 25 years? Probably not but its scratching an itch for right now.

How are bands like Work of Art, HEAT, Vega, Serpentine and all those modern bands that are being derided in this thread ever going to produce a 'classic' album if we close the borders of AOR and say they can never make another album again because they are not as good as some old guys from the 80's (of which I am one so don't start.) Seems like cutting your nose off to spite your face to me.
