A new (country) take on a Bongiovi song: Lena Haarberg audition I kinda liked it, but then again, I kinda didn't – not really sure what to make of it. Whaddya think?

Lee's voice is only surpassed by his personality – nicest person I've ever met. Should've made it bigger, but life's never fair.

Very nice guys, but the vocalist used to come up with some, err, alternative pronunciations of English words. A Norwegian comedian addressed these issues here: Bye, bye Johnny

Sounds like they dropped it a full note … but Sammy sounds good still, in my opinion.

Really liked this one! Intro sounded a bit too close to Queensryche of the old, but the rest was cool. Btw, Andrew: the frontpage is in an eternal loop (the splash page points back to the splash, instead of the regular homepage).

This is not meant as a defense of the man in any way, but I remember seeing a video interview where he refers to himself as being a Ritalin kid, growing up. People with ADD/ADHD have a tendency to self-medicate (some people with this diagnosis abuse drugs and alcohol because medical drugs make them drowsy, feel zombie-like, lose a lot emotions/mimics, etc.), and it sounds like this is a big part

Wow – stunning performance. Wouldn't have guessed who the vocalist was in a 100 years, but who cares – I'm impressed by this (middle-)aging man!

Checked this on a set of (cheapish) studio monitors. 4/6 and the 320s for the remaining two (Jay Z and Neil Young). I don't listen to the sound quality per see (what is quality?), but the way I imagine the mix should sound like (which is why I missed the Jay Z one, I guess – I have no idea what stuff like that should sound like anyhow).

I'd do anything (but I won't do that) to get to see Van Halen in one incarnation or the other :-). I wouldn't want to buy any live CDs, but attending a show is something else entirely. Someone said that it's hard to tell if Eddie is smiling because he's enjoying himself, or if it's the kind of smile that says: " I swear I'll strangle DLR soon" – I think it's the latter :-).

A friend of mine dug out this one: Van Halen live in Oslo – what a band & performance! I remember clearly not having the money to go there. Supposedly, there were only approx. 4000 at the show (9K capacity venue) from what I was told, but that's the one gig I really regret not having attended (even though it wasn't an option at the time). Btw, never knew they played Unchained w/ Hagar!

Mean Streak, Earthshaker and Black Tiger are the classic hard rock albums, but for melodic rock fans, Down for the Count, Ten and Contagious would be the best choices, IMO. Down for the Count is actually my favourite – there, I said it :-).

Lighthouse was their take on a song written by someone else. It was a TV-show concept, where well-known artists (Glam in this case, I guess, not the band) have to choose a song written by someone unknown, and then perform their version of the song. I guess the TV company holds the rights to the song in question. A shame, really, as I enjoyed that song.

I only have MS on vinyl, so I haven't heard it in ages, but it's the definite instrumental album for me. Castronovo played on King's Cup, didn't he?

It probably looks like I'm the world's biggest Glam fan here now :-), but in conjunction with this thread, Ammunition appeared on the Norwegian TV-show, the Hit, this Friday, playing a song written by one of the contestants of the show: http://tv.nrk.no/serie/the-hit/MUHU14000514/sesong-1/episode-5#t=30m3s. The song is available on iTunes, according to the TV show host. I'm not the biggest WigW

I agree, the band is not new, but it seems that Mårtensson has become a member of the band, in addition to producing.

I guess Mark/Marcie Free did the demo of this one before FM recorded it, even though Long Way From Love was released a few years later? Does anyone know the story?

Not sure if this has been mentioned/discussed here earlier, but I just read a piece on a Norwegian website about a new band called Ammunition, that contains Åge "Glam" Steen Nilsen and Erik Mårtensson: http://www.dagbladet.no/2014/10/03/kultur/age_sten_nilsen/wig_wam/musikk/ammunition/35538543/. I've heard about the band before, but the addition of Mårtensson must be pretty recent?

I think it's a pic of a dead person. I don't remember the story behind, but I'm pretty sure that he was photographed post mortem. Edit: Was he a magician of some sort?

....according to this Norwegian newspaper: http://www.dagbladet.no/2014/03/14/kultur/wig_wam/musikk/age_steen_nilsen/32302517/ A new CD was scheduled for 2014, but this is now scrapped. It's hard to be a rock'n'roller, I guess....
