I have the Dokken T&N and ULAK albums. While the T&N one sounds good, the ULAK is fantastic. Found myself listening to it a bunch of times after I bought it, even though I've had the original album for 20 years. Definitely worth the investment. Kent Bates

Two places for me: 1) I was shopping at Shoprite, getting the essentials for my home, and they were playing Survivor - Across The Miles. I've heard Survivor played a bunch of times in different areas, but never anything from the album Too Hot To Sleep. 2) At Meadowlands Arena in NJ, my family was there to see a motorcross stunt show called the Nuclear Cowboys. While the crowd was settling

I go to the gym and I've got a few hundred songs on my iPhone under a playlist called "Adrenaline". I can't list them all here and I constantly rotate them for freshness, but one song that I can think of that has never left the list is "Rise" by The Cult. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cjlwsyXyos Kent Bates

I used this site recently and love it. Very simple and free. You can also fade tracks in and out as well as edit them down. www.audio-joiner.com Kent Bates

It's more than just the chorus, ALL of the lyrics are from the Journey song. The music is completely different, so different in fact that I don't think you notice that the lyrics are word from word from the original. It's a great version, but for the guitarist to claim he wrote the lyrics is 100% false. Kent Bates

I probably picked up the other copy they had at NEH records at the same time. I was quite shocked at the Chain Reaction song. I really dig the way they did it, but for the guitarist to credit himself as the writer has really set himself up for a major lawsuit. The album didn't go anywhere sales wise (perhaps they should have considered a better band name) but if it did then would have to pay t

I own The Best of Dokken Japanese compilation (1994). I bought it back in the day because it was the only CD copy at the time that had the song "Back For The Attack". The Dream Warriors track is the same one featured on BFTA. Kent Bates

Agree. I was really looking forward to Sabaton as I'd never seen them before. The NYC crowd went crazy for them. They should really consider headlining on their own. Nightwish were good in concert, but their setlist could have been better. Only one song from Dark Passion Play. While I admired that they played a bunch of tunes off the new album, they really should have avoided playing that l

I'm glad Boston is outselling Alanis Morisette. I remember hearing in the 90s that Alanis outsold Boston to become the best selling debut album ever, and that pissed me off. In time, Boston reclaimed the throne. Kent Bates

The only original members are the guitarist and the bassist. It's a little shameful that they are putting down keyboards because their old keyboard player passed away a few years ago. Seems disrespectful. Kent Bates

An album that always stood out as having a strong bass presence, while not compromising the guitar, is Slaughter's Fear No Evil. One of the few albums that I've heard where you can hear both instruments equally, at least to my ears. Kent Bates

I read about two chapters of his autobiography and had to get rid of it. I determined the less I knew about him the more I'd be able to enjoy his music. He had an obsession with dogs that I found disturbing. Kent Bates

Regarding his tombstone, Jewish cemeteries are usually like this, very low key. You can't even bring flowers, just rocks every time you come by to visit. I'm sure it's what his mother wanted for him. Kent Bates

So I watched the Quiet Riot documentary and thought it was really good. I admired that it didn't seem to hold anything back, showing the struggles Frankie Banali has gone through, or so I thought. There was one part of it that kind of ruined it for me. I did a quick wikipedia search to try and find out what happened to the last singer they let go, the one before Jizzy Pearl, and noticed a gla

I really dig the Survivor - Vital Signs Rock Candy release. Some other ones that I thought were worth the money is the recent Whitesnake '87 Deluxe Edition (the drummer's high hat is so crisp and sharp it adds to the whole dynamic of the album) and the Japan Remaster of Dokken - Back For The Attack. There's a few sellers I buy from on Ebay who sell new stuff at reasonable rates. I also try NEH records as well. I occasionally pick up new releases from major artists at Best Buy and whenever I can make my way out to New Jersey, I hit Vintage Vinyl, the best independent music store in my area. Kent Bates

I forgot about the Hammerfall/Edguy concert I saw a few years back. Also saw Lordi years ago and have to catch Sabaton when they come by on their next tour. All these European bands play here regularly but most of the melodic acts do not. You think they would find a way to make it work. Kent Bates

So I went to see Within Temptation and Amaranthe last night in NYC. For those outside America, Within Temptation get ZERO airplay here in the States, except perhaps Satellite radio. Yet they filled a 2,000 capacity club. I went to see Crashdiet last year in NYC. Again, ZERO airplay in America. While the theater wasn't sold out, it was quite filled for a Thursday night. Both these bands do

Absolutely get "Tearing Down The Walls", my album of the year. Next you should purchase "Address The Nation". Their two other albums have a different singer, but I think most would agree the "S/T" has a better production than their second album "Freedom Rock". All are available on iTunes. On a side note, check YouTube for a Japan release only track, &

Yeah, their stage setup was incredible. Lights like an arena show. Also thought Grand Design and Adriangale were great. I was not here last year so it's my first time at HOME bar and the place is incredible. The best bar/club I've ever been in. Getting ready for day 2. Kent Bates
