I love both styles in Opeth. However, loads of fans do not care for the last 2, more prog oriented albums (which I love). Damnation, Heritage, Pale Communion and Sorceress are brilliant clean vocal Opeth records.

Bands are scrambling for ways to make money these days. If the music ends up essentially free, everything else goes up.

Yes appears to be a dynamic collective as opposed to a band.

That's certainly a possibility, but I see underground thrash, black and death metal with vinyl releases all the time. Surely the MR audience is at least that big.

I've noticed that, in general, vinyl seems to be more of an underground metal thing or a reissue thing. Any speculation as to why perhaps it's not catching on in the MR scene?

As far back as high school I found myself digging back into rock and roll history in addition to then-current music. Alongside Whitesnake and Bon Jovi, I was listening to The Beatles, CCR and this man...Chuck Berry. I only managed to copy my step-dad's couple of best-of cassettes, but I played them relentlessly. "Johnny B. Goode", "No Particular Place To Go", "My Ding-A-L

I have always been an albums guy. I listen to entire albums to this day. I never just load singles or select songs to my iPod, unless that's all a band has. When I take CDs in the car, I play them all the way through...sometimes more than once. It's just the way I am wired.

He was with Styx for Cyclorama AND Edge Of The Century...but that you probably knew. Cyclorama is good. It's a varied album, in terms of song styles and lead vocal delivery. I saw him at MRF3 and he was quite cool, IMO. Nice guy too. This song is on Cyclorama https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64hx-W4Fg-k
