Yeah, I always thought "Now" was a poor choice of lead-off single for 'X'...should have been "Four Letter Word" or "Everyday".

I agree...those 3 are better than solid, IMO. The only slightly "less than great" one, IMO, is 'Disciplined Breakdown' which to me sounds like them trying to recreate the s/t release (2nd album) for the label. Still has good tunes, but I'd rank it last.

There's probably scarce few ways to get OOP albums AND support the artist at the same time. If you're buying OOP, it's probably a used copy...a copy that label/artist has already seen payment for. Unless the band owns their recording, then presses it, then sells it themselves...but then it's not exactly OOP, is it?

>> Rick Rubin gets accolades too but his production is horrendous too....<< Rick Rubin (basically) never touches any equipment. He basically just "guides" the band's writing process to a "sound" he hears in his head in terms of what kinds of songs he thinks they should be playing...he leaves the tech stuff to someone else. >>Pretty condecsending of the

I agree, both Mr. Big and Journey sound good and, IMO, are the farthest thing from "butchered"...that's hilarious. Like those two bands would want to work with him if he "butchered" anything...completely laughable.

A lot of that lies in the mastering, I believe...I don't pay enough attention to the credits to know if he masters these albums as well...but if he doesn't, then that's not exactly on him. But dialing in some high end, muddying up the low end, etc, can be cleared up when mastered. I've heard things that sounded buried that, once mastered, came right out...it can also do the opposite.

Hey guys...this is a BRAND NEW song by my good friend Anthony Gravley (literally not even 1 hour old on Bandcamp at time of posting this). It's a truly fantastic piece of Pop/Rock music and I was blessed enough to be asked to provide some harmony vocals on it. Please check it out and consider purchasing it to help support a truly deserving artist! http://anthonygravley.bandcamp.com/track/t

I can definitely see a few new tracks on a soundtrack for The Dirt...or maybe a couple if they do (yet another) box set/hits release...but I don't think they will ever do another complete album.

This is likely to ruffle some feathers, but here goes: I have seen many, many instances of people railing on Kevin Shirley's production/sonics saying they're "bad", "horrendous", whatever. My honest opinion, he makes new records that sound like old records...dry, "in the room" as much as possible, and having a live feel. But I like that. I think his records sou

All the expensive gear in the world means nothing if you don't have the ears to make it work for you... I've seen guys w/ great ears make cheap computers & plug-in's sound amazing. Then I've seen guys with huge mixers, tons of outboard gear AND computers struggle to get a decent drum tone.
