Solid disc, Sammy sounds a bit rough at times, but the rest of the band is great, although overall the VH live album has quite a bit more punch.

Winkler has not the greatest but a unique voice that made them instantly recognizable. The new guy sounds like a million other modern rock singers. And the songs don't really deliver. Sad indeed.

After a couple of days I must say this is a monster of a record! Definitely Shinedown-like and there are at least 4-5 potential singles on this thing. I'm baffled why this wasn't released. I've been pretty disappointed with most modern rock relases this and last year, but this is just awesome.

Yeah, they were with one of the majors and for some reason this album was never released. I saw the opening for Rival Sons a few years ago and they were an excellent live band as well. Now they're called Southern Gentlemen and have a new song out. It's more acoustic based. If You Just Believe

Wow, this has finally been released after being shelved for a couple of years. Great modern rock, super catchy and commercial. Produced by Brian Howes. The Crazy Ones Saving Grace

Thought the same thing! Perhaps the band doesn't want another Tarja whose voice becomes too dominant.

Not a huge fan of the band, mainly because of the vocals, but I really like this album. Very consistent from top to bottom. Top notch sound quality as well.

Yes, probably my favorite of their albums as well. And "Fallen From Grace" is my favorite Heart tune. "Wild Child" ia great too, although I prefer Romeo's Daugther's version.

Funny, I doubt this interview would have happened with an album of new songs. Shows you that it's all about nostalgia in rock theses days.

Thanks for the link! And it's time to come clean for me. I was very critical of this live album, then I listened to the whole thing on spotify 3-4 times and decided to buy the CD after all. Once you get past Dave's vocals it's a tremendeous album. The band's just on fire. Two things that stand out for me: One, Alex Van Halen is the best drummer in rock. Period. Such a powerhouse, yet still lig

Well, Santana still is quite a big name, even in commercial terms. All these collaborations raised his profile with a younger audience. I'm really curious to hear and hope it's close to Abraxas Pool, which I absolutely loved!

Yeah. 5-6 solid tunes, some fillers too. I get the feeling they're a bit confused as to which direction to take. My guess is they wanted to go heavier with a rawer sound, but then they have 3-4 sappy love songs which to me is what Atlantic wanted and at times she sounds a lot like P!nk. So it's a bit of everything, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Promising band, still lots of room to improve, but I like them. Also, I really like the logo and cover art. It has a distinct retro/80's feel without looking cheesy. Frontiers et al take note!

LOL, Tom! I'm sure the entire city of Chicago breathed a great sigh of release that the Kings didn't quality for the playoffs. They would have been the team that nobody wants to play. It's weird, they never come alive until the playoffs. They had a few close calls sneaking in at the last minute, this year it didn't work out. Good luck to you guys!

I totally agree. RS certainly has all the trademarks that people around here love about this kind of music, but it's totally generic, which is a shame when you consider the talent involved. Given Deen's voice, I guess it was written to sound like Journey and it does. And Toto is a grower indeed! It's also an example that sometimes a bit more subtle hooks and choruses work better in the lifesp

As much as I love Sammy, but he should really give the VH bashing a rest. He's usually such a fun and postivie person, but you can tell he's still pissed off about the brothers. Let it go already.

Good but not as good as Dark Passion Play, which is my favorite Nightwish album. I'm somewhat suprised how restrained Floor Jansen sings through most of the record.

Blackmore, along with Robert Plant, is one of the few geezers with some dignity left out there. Frankly, I'd be very surprised to see him come back. Nor do I think would a reformed Rainbow drum-up a lot of business. A comeback With DP would be a different story. I'm sure he doesn't need the money and he seems really happy with Blackmore's Night.

"Amen" and "I Am The Fire" are the two most commercial songs and more in line with the previous album.

Funny, to me it sounds not very produced. I think they went for a rawer, more aggressive sound this time around. But I agree that the songs lack instant appeal and hooks. Perhaps that was also done on purpose as "The Strange..." was a very commercial album. As I mentioned in a previous post, there are 2-3 songs that I like, the rest is a bit mehh...

I'd very surprised if they record a studio record as Sammy stated there won't even be a new Chickenfoot record because it doesn't make any economic sense.

Mike, I totally agree. Other than "I Am The Fire" and "Amen" there's nothing that sticks. And that super thin and underproduced sound doesn't help. The drums sound like they were recorded in a cardboard box. Major disappointment.
