I'm really impressed with the Sweet & Lynch disc. My initial response to the soundclips wasn't that positive, but after 2-3 spins of the entire album I must say I like it a lot. The first four tracks a pure gold, in particular "Dying Rose" is absolute Dokken bliss! Then the quality dips just a bit until it pick up speed again with the last four tracks. My favorite song, next to DR,

Are Vince's vocals for real? Don't think I've ever heard him sing this well (well, for his standards anyway). Girls, Girls, Girls

I've read a ton of biographies. Just finished Billy Idol's one, which I really liked and I'm almost done with Jim Peterik's book as well. Peterik's biography is probably the most unusual one so far. It's amazing how normal and level-headed the guy is. In fact, it's great to see that you can be a totally normally person, Joe Average if you will, and still be such a great songwriter. Really ins

But whose reviews do you trust more? The guy who writes enthusiastically about a pre-ordered album he received before the genral public or the guy who writes for a publication that relies on avertising revenues from the very label he reviews? People need to realize that all this is fundamentally changing, perhaps not in this genre that cateres primarily to the 40+ crowd, but the young kids do

Bruce, the same is happening right now, so I guess some people in the press are leaking albums as well.

Althoug one could argue that why do we still need reviews in this day and age? With soundclips posted weeks and even months in advance, consumers can make up their mind without having to rely on somebody else's opinion like in the old days. I read reviews because I like to hear other people's opinion, but it's not going to change my decision either way. And from a marketing point of view, it

I think many of these bands, such as Cinderella, were never really in it for the music. They wanted the rockstar lifestyle, the fame and fortune. Music was the means that got them there. Now that the commercial factor has been taken out of the equation, there's no desire to record new music. Others, such as (Kip) Winger, keep putting out music because they want/need to create new music even if th

Bonham is to blame in this as well. Don't think the guy was ever longer in a band than five minutes. I'm surprised he hasn't moved on from the Sammy gig.

Yeah, although I wish he'd go back to his more melodic voice of Rainbow and Cornestone days. He sings like a metal singer now and I'm not really digging that.

There's a difference between not liking something or saying it's overrated. I'm not much of a fan either, but you can't deny the impact they had on pop music.

I agree. Nothing really grabbed me until LM's Smoke & Mirrors CD a couple of years ago, at least from a songs point of view. Some of the solo albums he released over the years simply lack good tunes. He seems to have really good writing chemistry with both Logan and Pinnick.

Not bad, but it's a pretty safe song. It seems he's been on cruise control ever since "All Summer Long". I don't mind a couple of tunes like that on an album, but his previous 2-3 albums had no edge, no balls. Devil is one of my all time favorite records because of its diverse style. Now it's just a Seger/Skynyrd combo.

KXM is probably my favorite sounding record in years. The new Lynch Mob has the same monster sound. Stuff recorded on analog equipment definitely has a better sonic quality, which includes he latest Slash record as well as the Rival Sons albums and most blues artists such as Joe Bonamassa and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. All these albums have a warm sound where you can clearly distinguish every instrume

One can always count on Sons Of Anarchy to produce some music gems. This artist is no different. Great 70's style blues with a bit of alternative thrown in and delivered with a punkish attitude. Say A Prayer Last One Leaving House On Fire

If I like the entire album, definitely CD. I get about 90% of my music from cede.ch, a great Swiss online store that carries just about everything released these days. I'm sure they will carry your new album as well.

They might not be your thing, fair enough, but they certainly aren't "terrible" and "awful". There aren't many bands around that do the 70's retro sound as good as they do not to mention that they're a great live band.

I dug out Maximum Security last night, still a great album and one of my favorite shredder records. Forgot that Deen Castronovo played on a few tracks and Lynch plays a solo on Tears.

One of my fave Sammy tunes, but this cover is just plain terrible. No energy, no drive, not to mention that it makes you realize how good a vocalist Hagar is!

It pretty much is a Journey record, isn't it? I too was hoping for something a bit more original, sort of like Damn Yankees where all members bring a bit of their own style into the mix. Still, great performances by all guys and I'll get this just because of Deen's vocals.

Loving Sun Red Sun big time, every track! Monster groove, dark and moody stuff. And Oni never sounded more epic. Sweet/Lynch on the other hand, at least the tracks I've heard so far, leaves me rather cold. Generic, done-by-the-numbers stuff. And I've never really liked Michael Sweet's voice, but that's just my personal opinion. Give me LM and KXM over anything else that he's doing right now!

How much does Blades actually sing on this thing? I listened to all the samples on iTunes and couldn't really hear him that often. I really think these songs were written with Deen in mind and then Jack and Doug were brought in to give this project more exposure. Still, cracking release and I'll be buying it for sure.

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I take their recent stuff, including this one, over their 90's albums. True, they had a few cracking tunes back then but also lots of fillers on those first two albums.

Not doubt great stuff, but a bit too Journey-esque for my taste. It seems Blades and Aldrich are just hired guns to play on Deen's solo record. ;-)
