Very excited about this, it's not out here until Friday.

Holy fuck, I always thought they're a progressive Death Metal band, but on this they sound like a heavy 70's prog band. Just wait until that riff kicks in after a minute! Sorceress

Very underrated drummer. Obviously not the most technical guy, but the heavy swing is a huge part of their sound. Not someone who can be replaced easily. I take him over most of those very technical and stiff hardrock/metal drummers. Too bad they're still engaging in that childish stuff this late in their career. They should enjoy the few years they have left on stage.

Yes, it certainly isn't surprising. Hopefully Sharon eases the grip a bit and lets him get the proper help and rest.

Haha... I liked the first one from the very first spin. Still listen to it a lot. I'm not saying the new one isn't melodic, it is, I'm just not connecting the same way. And at times it's just too busy and relentlessly overpowering, in particular Sherinian. But I can't wait to see them on March 10.

I guess I'm the only one who prefers the first album. It's been only two spins so far, but overall I find it less immediate, less hooky. And at times there's a bit too much Sherinian, almost overpowering.

There were certainly some very good acts, like Steelhouse Lane and others, but there some really poor releases as well. The thing that has definitely changed (for the worse) is the impact of the annual Eurovision Cheese Contest and the audience it caters to. The amount of processed and recycled cheese that Frontiers in particular releases every month has got to stop.

Well, he was friends with Neil's assistant, or so he claims, which is not quite the same thing. And the first time he mentions "friends", it's in quotes, so the question is how close they actually were, but this is really beside the point. I also think there was no reason to describe Neil's condition in the end. If the Peart and Rush family didn't want to disclose that, why should he?

It's a bit of an odd mix. I don't think Olzen has the pipes to complement his voice. I think the Allen / Lande thing worked because they have both very powerful voices. Allen and somone like Floor Jansen would have worked much better. Not bad but rather generic indeed. The first Allen / Lande album is still the benchmark for me and they seem to fall way short.

You might wanna check out the Grand Prixx albums, especially Samurai. It's a great slice of melodic hardrock. Rock Candy have remastered versions.

It's really a lose-lose situation: Once it becomes a very broad "Music Hall of Fame", expect even fewer heavier rock acts to be nominated. On the other hand, the RocknRoll Hall of Fame probably had to widen the appeal in order to stay afloat in the long run. Let's face it, there are not too many new/current rock bands that have potential to be future hall of famers...

Sublime tone. One of the more unique players for sure.

I doubt the demand would be huge. VH never had the kind of mainstream appeal in Europe that they had in the US. Roth solo even less.

Very nice! Love the groove and killer solo by Reb! This pisses all over the generic turd that is Revoultion Saints. You get the feeling they actually wrote the songs themselves. Big Disaster

Deen needs to stop singing that processed cheese fluff, at least it's not another embarrassing duo with Gioeli or that chick singer. All that was missing there was them frolicking in turtlenecks on a bear rug in front of a fire place.

Their 80's stuff, everthing from Permanent Waves up to Hold Your Fire.I also like Counterparts and Roll The Bones, in particular Ghost Of A Chance off the latter is one of my absolute fave songs.

It's the first Maeder-era song I like. It's got a different vibe, not classic Gotthard, obviously, but classic doesn't work him him.

Metallica for sure! I think Coverdale, Don Dokken and Vince Neil sound a lot worse than Dave. Not sure if would pay a lot of money to see Roth with basically a cover band, but he's still a good entertainer and I can understand that he wants to perform.

I like the occasional acoustic songs on electric records, but entire acoustic albums bore me to tears.

Simple Minds - New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84) For some reasons this song stands for new beginnings for me. Just a cracking tune.
