Considering their status during the 80's I think they were fairly square in terms of partying and rock star stunts. At the same time it seems their camaraderie was fairly special and quite rare.

In all fairness, there are not that many guys out there with the songwriting chops of a Neal Schon or Jack Blades. That's why all these Frontier projects sound so bland and generic. Del Vecchio is a good songwriter but his writing lacks personality, some element that he brings to the table. My guess is Frontiers just tell him what they want him to write. One day it's Journey they want, the next i

Funny, I only discovered this very much later, never heard of them back in the day. Great stuff indeed!

Great cover indeed! Don't think I would have recognized Chad's voice right away.

It's funny how music sometimes works. I don't like most of these super genric albums that Frontiers has been pumping out as of late, but for some reason I really dig the first three songs that have been released from this album. Not sure what it is. Perhaps the guy's voice that doesn't sound like all the other Scandi singers out there. And it has that pomp element that I love, so it reminds me a

Went a bit crazy on etsy and bought a few old tour t-shirts: Loverboy - Get Luck Tour from '82 Sammy Hagar - Three Lock Box tour from '83 Night Ranger - Midnight Madness Tour ' 83 I had forgotten how soft these old Hanes shirts were. Just awesome quality and super comfortable to wear. The designs were so much cooler as well. I think starting in the late 80's, tour designs got worse, just

Nice! I've been wanting the mini LP shm versions for quite some time, but they're quite price on ebay as the previous pressing sold out rather quickly. I absolutely love this format and the Japanese, as always, do a really nice job with the packaging.

It's certainily hooky and catchy, but it does indeed sound like a mash-up of singles from the previous 2-3 albums (Have A Nice Day, We Weren't Born To Follow etc). Also, I think the instrumentation is part of the problem. If they would beef-up the guitars a bit, it would make a huge difference.

This reminded me of "Last Days Of Thunder", another Cruise flic with that fabulous "Last Note Of Freedom" sung by Coverdale.

I did not expect this album to be this good! The clips sounded promising, but I was blown away by the quality of the songs and production when listening to the full record. Not a single filler on this thing! The singer reminds me of Goran Edman and whereas so many other current Scandi bands go for a Toto-esque sound (Work of Art, Wigelius etc.) they sound more like Foreigner, in particular "

I thought there were 2-3 good tracks on Burning Bridges. Will be interesting to see what the tunes are going to sound like without Sambora's involvement. It could also have a positive impact. If anything, he was part of their sound drifting away.

Speaking of Frankie. I ran into him in the streets of Zurich a couple of days ago. Two days after I finally watched the QR documentary, it was almost surreal! With his wife Regina (who directed the movie). He was super nice, even left a comment on my FB page. His wife is really nice as well. I was huge fan of him growing up, always loved his playing. Nothing groundbreaking for sure, but the level of performance, production quality etc. is as good as anything release back in the day. In other words, I can't think of any other new(er) band that plays this brand of rock on this level.

The new The Dead Daisies is huuuge and groovy! Major Aerosmith vibe going here. Last Time I Saw The Sun Join Together Sonically top notch as well. What a drum sound!

Great read, thank you! I just love stories about the recording of these classic albums. The whole process is just fascinating and makes these records even more special.

It will never be in the same league without Schon. Period. Other than for PR reasons, I really don't see why they should call this Hardline. Call it something else and you won't fall short of expectations. And as mentioned by others, give Del Vecchio a bit of a rest. He's certainly a very capable songwriter but all these projects sounds generic beyond belief.

Yeah, I picked up her EP about a year ago. Really good singer songwriter type stuff. It always blows me away to these guys with their grown up kids, in particular if they pursue a career in music as well. Nice!

Was just yesterday blasting The Police's "Regatta de Blanc", one of my all time favorite pop albums. Could never really get into his solo stuff, just too mushy for me.

Yes, Wings is an awesome song! One of my faves on the new DL as well. Has that sort of dark and moody vibe that I loved about Gods Of War as well.
