My initial impression was not so positive, but after a few spins I kinda dig it. Nothing new, a perfect stadium anthem if there ever was one.

Yeah, I totally agree with that. All these bands and that sound stems from college radio in the late 80's and early 90's, something that never existed over here in the Europe. I watched a short clip the other day where Brian Fallon of Gaslight Anthem discusses working with an English producer on their new record. Early on during the recording, the producer said "You guys sound so...Americ

Yes, the label has many heavier rock and metal bands. And Nickelback certainly are a heavier rock band.

Certainly a talented band, but this whole sub genre desperately needs some fresh ideas. All these bands sound the same down to the t.

Anybody know why they left Roadrunner? For me it's still the best label for heavy rock bands. Although I could imagine that Republic have deeper pockets.

Nothing really grabbed me since "Faceless". The single "1000hp" does nothing for me either, it's the sort of generic, sing-along-anthem that bores me to tears. I guess metal and hardrock bands keep doing these songs hoping to sell them to ESPN or some other sports network. I did check out the other soundbytes from the new album and wasn't too impressed. Will probably check out

I disagree. These songs didn't make the record for good reason because they're not that great, at least to my ears. And this is exactly the problem with most albums today where everything written gets thrown on the record and the overall quality suffers because of that.

Yeah, love the fact that Deen is singing. I have very, very high expectations for this.

Interesting read. In a nutshell: Target a mature, older audience because they have the money. Don't dumb everything down, improve the content and technical quality and then people are willing to pay for it. Five Lessons

As much as I dig Chad, but Jason would be awesome in Chickenfoot.

Not to disrespect Glenn Hughes, but I don't think there's much of a live audience out there for these guys, especially in the US. Also, I'm sure Jason doesn't have to worry about money ever, so he just chooses fun projects, like the Hagar gig.

I know that you started out as a heavy metal singer, but I also remember reading interviews from way back where you had stated that you actually prefer writing and singing more of the funky side of rock. Sure, at the end of the day it's all rock (although you forgot to list hip hop, the Redlist project ;-)), but I think it can help a career when an artist really focuses on one direction rather th

Fair enough, Jeff, although I remember the first clip you had posted a couple of months ago from another song that one sounded pretty heavy as well. But perhaps you'll surprise us with something more groovy as well. ;-)

It's not about pink and fluffy. I like heavy, but I like heavy with a groove and more of an organic sound. There are a gazillion bands like this one with the ultra fast guitar solos and double bass drum attacks, all chops but no feeling.

Leaves me completely cold, I'm afraid. I just don't think this heavy stuff suits his voice that well. Not to mention the constant changing of styles. Over the past 5-10 years Jeff's been all over place. What happened to his love for anything funky and groovy?

Sonically it still is one of the best sounding albums from the 80's. Same applies to CLAK.

Great news but bad timing. With Nikki on tour with MC for like another year, it seems they won't be able to support this one much either.

Didn't we have this before? DLR recording a solo record and pissing off the brothers? I think it's great as I loved his first two solo records in particular and I also understand that he doesn't just want to sit around and wait, but I hope he cleared that with Ed and Al. ;-)

Great news, can't wait. Will Dishwalla ever going to release another record? The guy who replaced JR sounds quite a bit like him. I remember seeing some clips where they did an acoustic radio show.
