I love Virgil, but his drumming is way off here. It lacks any sort of groove and power that Pacey and Aldridge deliver.

It's Journey with the runs. Just horrid.

I totally get the sentiment behind his lyrics, but to my ears they sound a bit contrived these days. The 80's were a totally different time with a different spirit and his songs and lyrics reflected that time. I also assume that Jim was in a different state as well, forming a band and having to fight his way to the top. When I read his biography a few years ago, his music started to make sense to

I think WS are pretty much done. They might have some farewell shows, but I thought DC wanted to retire given the various health issues. Also, I think this is another Frontiers project that won't produce much live activity. Sweet and Hoekstra are probably too busy with their main gigs anyway.

But he sure can sing and with those two he finally gets at least some of the songwriting chops that were missing in Inglorious.

Am I the only one who hears some Joey Tempest here?! In terms of generic vs. unique. Sometimes it's hard to point a finger on it. I thought their first album was very generic Scandi AOR that Frontiers churns out in huge numbers. This is generic as well, but I do find the songs better and it has more muscles. Perhaps that's why I like it more. Bands like Creye, on the other hand, make me throw

Didn't care much for the first album, but this is much better, definitely more muscular. The guy sounds a lot like Joey Tempest at times. Still waiting for my copy as this and Landfall are on backorder.

Yeah, there were a couple of solid tracks. I really wish they could things patch up. I was surprised how good Jack still sounds on the new acoustic record. I put on Stick It this evening, what a belter of an album that was!

Funny story, I briefly met Jack in 1999. I knew Ty Longely's girlfriend at the time and one Saturday night, or early Sunday morning, we ended-up at Jack's house in the SF valley. I remember all the gold and platinum records on the wall above the stairway. Jack was asleep and they woke him up because I wanted to meet him. He stumbled out of his bedroom, grabbed a Corona and said hello.

I agree. In vocal ability he's up there with the very best of the genre.

Well, there's Denander the person and Denander the musician. The various Escape projects he's recently been involved in have all been superb. Looking forward to this one as well.

Rightfully so. The US postal service is a mess. I purchased a CD on Discogs from an US seller and it took three months to get to Europe.

Mandy Meyer's new band, some other ex-Krokus guys and Dino Jelusic. European-style hardrock with a strong Rainbow vibe. Orginial version was recorded with Unisonic. Souls Alive

Yes, they are recording a new album. I hope it's more than just a collection of songs they've released over the last few years.

Yeah, he's settled into these mid-tempo grooves. I think all of his releases are solid, well produced with great sonics, but I agree that something a bit more diverse, and a bit more uptempo would be nice.

To be fair, that's what the labels say. At least Lynch never promised a classic Dokken album until now. I doubt it will be that, but it might be closer to that. Funny, in that same article (blabbermouth), Robert Mason states that one of the conditions when he joined The End Machine was that they wouldn't be a Dokken copy.

Great to hear, it will be a bit more Dokken-centric, according to Lynch, as per Frontier's request. It features "Mild" Steve Brown on drums, Mick's brother!

I ordered a CD from Discogs a few weeks ago, what appeared to be an originally sealed ablum, but the disc was missing. Obviously the seller (with a 100% rating) claimed he didn't know.

Never quite got the fuss... But then again I never quite got Coverdale/Page either. Page after Zep has been patchy at best.
