This I a very one-sided, biased documentary made with an agenda. Viewers beware.

Many people get their panties in a wad over his drum sound. While I'm not in love with the sound, I can't imagine getting so worked up over it. Two songs in, so far so good. The shear length of this release is going to be a challenge. The older I get, the less time I have to immerse myself.

This reminds me of something funny. A few months ago, this topic was being discussed on a local radio station (news/talk format) call-in show. Some guy called in and suggested Rush as the best American rock band. I had a good chuckle over that one.

Acoustic or not, Sail away is a wonderful album. Pure class.

This is probably my favorite as well, I like it more and more with each listen. I think it is DL at its best. I love the album overall and have been listening consistently since the release. In addition to Wings, my faves are Dangerous, All Time High, Blind Faith and Last Dance. But there isn't a single song that I don't care for.

Without the Night, for similar reasons as nickknight explained above. WTN has more depth, at least to me.

I'm glad to hear some people in EU, like you Shade, starting to talk common sense. Pacifism and capitulation will not defeat this enemy.

Love Slang. Always have. It was a breath of fresh air. Different in style, but still full of good songs. Ironically, Ken, the only song I would have had them leave off is "Breathe a Sigh". Lol. I would've opted for "Move With Me Slowly" instead. And I concur with Irwin, I saw them play "Gift of Flesh" live on that tour. They may have opened with it.

I agree, the ending comes and goes and leaves me wanting more.

No, I like it from beginning to end although I will admit that the ending does have a certain climactic feel to it that sets it apart from the rest of the song. ;)

I had decided I was going to wait until Friday. But with the bad day I'm having, I decided to give this song a listen to see if it could lift my spirits. Definitely different. Musically, I can kind of get into it. Lyrically, I don't get the chorus. At all. Man enough to be my girl? What?

That was part of the problem with Portnoy, it seems. Always trying to reinvent themselves. They've gotten "back to basics" more or less with the last two releases, which has been music to these ears. Although I'm not opposed to stretching the boundaries a bit.
